- This video began as a short that just couldn't be trimmed down. About a meme. And some unwanted relationship advice. So now it's a discussion on living fossils! What is a living fossil?
According to Merriam-Webster:
living fossil
noun
: an organism (such as a horseshoe crab or a ginkgo tree) that has remained essentially unchanged from earlier geologic times and whose close relatives are usually extinct.
The coelacanth is a very famous example of an extinct species suddenly gaining "living fossil" status.

Before anybody misunderstands: Obviously you want things in common in a relationship. You need commonality. The point though is that it's also important to have things you can enjoy on your own. You are two different people. That's OKAY! But it is important that even if it's not "their thing" that they're supportive of your excitement. Obviously what a partner can give any given day will be different, from day to day. They won't do it perfectly. Sometimes they may be un-enthused. But the point is that they try, and that they appreciate your excitement :D. Anyway, unsolicited advice from the rock guy, but the meme was hilarious to me. And it's a good opportunity to talk about LIVING FOSSILS!
I'm also an oversharing date when it comes to my interests. If a date doesn't appreciate my enthusiasm for something I love, they likely won't appreciate my enthusiasm for them in a full-blown relationship. Better to find out before you get to that stage.
P.S. I always want to know about their passions and hobbies and general interests. It has to be a two-way street or it won't work.
MAYBE NOT TELL THEM RIGHT AWAY, BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE IS A ROCK, FOSSIL, AND CRYSTAL NUT LIKE US. I NEVER SHARE SUCH INFO WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC UNLESS I SEE THAT THE ARE WEARING A BUNCH OF GEMSTONES. I WILL THEN TEST THE WATERS VERY SLOWLY. I HAVE SEVERE SOCIAL ANIEXTY AND A TERRIBLE FEAR OF REJECTION.
