Great work again you 2. I just picked this amazing looking game up and you guys are the first ones I looked at on YT to help learn it. Thanks and I'd love to see you guys come back to your personal favorites you've made playthroughs for someday.
Thanks for this! I've explained this 3 times now and just realized I made a mistake with how to process goods. I didn't realize the basic goods need to first be processed to an advanced good AND THEN to a luxury good. We were just going straight from a basic to a luxury. It certainly makes more sense this way thematically, and if you look at the arrows! BTW that was a weird random distribution of markers on the emperor's track. All the luxury goods are already filled! I just discovered this channel in the past week. I'm loving your content and your videos are well-done and very helpful. Plus you have the same tastes as my partner and me. Keep up the great work!
At 35:10 you state that the sailor allows you to deliver to the guilds or the notables. You are actually allowed to deliver to the guilds and/or the notables.
Thank you for this video, highly enjoyable. Also, it's worth noting that when meditating, you are not restricted by your current meditation level - for example, if you were on level 2, you could still lay down 3 workers. Any excess workers are worth 1, so in that case you will generate 4 (2+1+1) meditation points.
Doug Herring Thanks Doug! We were in a silly mood for the intro. Who knows, we may do it again since it was so much fun doing something outside of the box...
Another great video! I've been waiting for your thoughts on Agra because a lot of my trusted sources have been split on this one. Also you touched on something in this video that i relate to immensely (and I think is underrepresented in large number of content that is lists and playthroughs) and that was finding the fun in the strategy as it pertains to replayability. I couldn't agree more that a lot of the fun (and replayability) is figuring out the game. No matter how variable a setup is or how random an event deck is usually there's a "best way" to play and one of the things I love most about games is figuring that out through multiple plays. Oh also liked the added flavor at the beginning of the video- really added to the theme ;)
Thanks for your spicey session & review! I'am glad you enjoy it that much and find the game easy to learn... I think it's def not a game for everybody, since it really needs some efford to wrap your head around it and have fun with it ;)
Hi I am a hugh fan of your work..... As the primary developer for all Vital Lacerda Games I can confirm your thought that Kanban is the most complex Lacerda game. It also IMHO is his best game. Once you get the rhythm of the general strategy it’s not too difficult to grasp the rules. Collect plans, pick up parts, assembly cars and the test/upgrade cars. This is the general blueprint of play to follow for new players... the order can vary as you are competing with opponents for locations. Also new players should be made aware of the doors between departments on the board. If there is a door this means the department interact. Once you get over the learning curve you will be rewarded. As a side note, let me know if I can hook you up with any Stronghold Games. There will be a new reprint of Kanban this year with custom shape wooden cars and an alternate side learning board.
Paul Incao Thanks Paul. We haven’t completely written the game off. I just think we need another go at it with a good teacher. I really like the concept, but we just couldn’t get the game running without constantly referring to the manual. Perhaps the next printing will change all that for us.
I had this game for a while as looked appealing and I'm a big fan of worker placement. Your's was the best tutorial and I've had a run through with it and really struggled to get my head round this one - think it probably needed 2 players playing for themselves rather than the one trying to play for 2. There are a couple of errors in the rule book and some poor explanation but I can get past that one. I got to the end and was really hoping to feel some reward but was left thinking - what was that all about? This I think will need another couple of goes at least before I make a decision and I can see why there aren't many play-throughs out there. The board I think will just take some getting used to as it's not well laid out - practicality was sacrificed for the artwork and the pinball effort was cumbersome when a flat board as you laid out there with regular discs would have sufficed for all the resources. I am sure there will be interesting combinations to be had and I will persist with this one. Thanks again guys for your very easy to watch tutorial.
There are A LOT of rules in the game, so I think that’s where the weight comes from. You two might just be super-good with learning rules. :) Granted, we demoed the game at a noisy convention, but even after 30 minutes of rules explanation, we had to ask questions on so many turns. Funny enough, I grasped Kanban pretty well! Agra still intrigues me, though my husband was not a fan of all the rules.
I would LOVE that! It’s a game I really want to play again, so if you go to Essen... :) Maybe I’ll ask my husband to watch this video and see if it clicks more for him.
At around 117:00, Francis’ take-back, led to multiple mistakes (Anthony picked up a coin he shouldn’t have, Francis forgot to pick up her processed good). For that reason, you guys shouldn’t do take-backs in these runthroughs.
Hey guys. Have you ever played any of the COIN games (Counter insurgency). Colonial Twilight is a two player only version...... just wondering, have you ever fancied this type of game?
Thanks for the great playthrough video. I agree that the complexity of this game is not as high as many say. There are lots of details in the rules, sure, but the brain-space used when playing is much less than several mid-level complexity games. I find Castles of Burgundy much more mentally taxing than this.
I'm new to boardgaming, granted, but....while the theme is *right* up my alley and the artwork is gorgeous, I think I'd prefer this as a video game. As a table-game it is sprawling and very dense. I'm sitting here watching this, imagining it as a Europa Universalis-style PC game and wishing it existed as such. It certainly is a beautiful game, though.
Hah! Loved the intro :) Love watching you guys evolve, try new things yet still provide amazing content.
You're awesome and funny, I love you both. Your playthrough are some of the best, good job. Thanks
Fab (from Paris)
Love the short introduction movie 🎥 😻

Dan McNabb Thanks Dan! Glad it was helpful!

Also, that rotating death star is soooo distracting...
You guys are awesome. The intro was fun and the play through was excellent!

Fantastic video as always. I really liked your intro. Keep up the fantastic work guys!!

Jeff Goggin Thanks! This is a critical characteristic for the replayability of a good euro.

what you did with the side board is much much better than it being set up, which makes it look like a gimmick. Much better!

Alicia Taft Find us at the next convention and we’d be happy to teach you the game...or any other that we know well.

Great intro. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the great playthrough video.

If you want to introduce mid gamers to the heavier game, Which one do you prefer Lisboa or Agra?
How long is it to set up?
Good fun game
Thank you, so nice gameplay.
I have to go to work I will have to watch this later😵
Love the Death Star!
looks good but due to the play time alone this will not be played much, so it's a no buy for us.

Like the intro :)
Grey Elephant? Is that a call out to another youtuber? Regardless, love the videos and always looking forward to the next one.
writerguy911 It’s a salute to a channel I was a long time fan of. Now we just need to play a board game with an Ant Lab meeple...
Fantastic! I really enjoy the board game community on RUclips.
Sounds like it's time for a Hive playthrough.
Nice intro!
you should link this video to bgg very good video thanks
He’s trying introduce the game and she keeps interrupting with nonsensical comments…. Get to the point.
