In my mind I think that Jin finally recognizes Hwoarang as a proper rival and can now return his feelings. Hwoarang has been working and growing and is serious hence the symbolic eye patch removal.
Hworang is headed down the master path after Baek got a forced retirement by Azazel in T6 ending.
I can’t lie they nailed with the trailer
I always thought the eyepatch was a nuance to the 1989 film Best Of The Best because there was a Korean Team (Taekwondo) in which one of the guys had an eyepatch.
T7 story made it to where Hwoarang lost sight in his right eye due to a grenade blast, so maybe his vision was temporarily fractured and needed time to heal. In some shots in the trailer, his eye looks lazy,but I could be wrong.
Surely there will be a customizable option for the eyepatch
So many baek's moves transitioned to hwoarang good stuff 👍🏽

l love how he's got special intros dialogues against jin and they're starting up with kicks during round 1, it's sooo edgiest asf. fun fact: hwoarang is in jin kazama's rival in tekken series for some reason. still, we're getting new character trailers at combo breaker in next 2 weeks, which character is going to be revealed next in T8? bryan fury, lee chaolan, bruce irvin or other tekken america characters deserves come back.

In my eyes, Harada used Baek's Template file, add in Hwoarangs move and made him younger 😅 look at those eye brows for example.
There is no Baek template file, this game is their first time with the new engine

In the t7 storyline a grenade exploded in his face after trying to reach jin. Idk why alot of you are saying you dont know why he had an eyepatch.
Yeah but Harada said that nothing actually happened to his eye, apparently he wore the eyepatch to look edgy and cool 💀

In cannon he never lost his eye,in the main storyline devil jin never had an appearance,then again maybe somewhat in the helicopter scene?but never the less hwo and dvj never had an encounter. Cause the cannon lore is lars saved jin on souq..
Okay so King Jae the thing is the Eye patch that was from the previous character art development team if I'm saying that right apologies or not but the whole Eye Patch thing was never Canon also also we knew back wasn't coming back because they killed him off and tekken six that at least one Cannon a lot of the old heads was killed off in six
