I think it's interesting how Jin and Hwoarang seemed to have switched roles, where Jin is the one who is outwardly eager to fight while Hwoarang just shrugs and stays laid back.
I feel Jin is trying to be more open and nice to others to make up for all he's done, and hwoarang has developed to a more relaxed and cautious person since Baek's 'disappearance' and Jin ignoring him for a few years, even after saving Jin
It seems like Hwoarang is getting a more consistent identity this time around. This dude's a street punk turned veteran who deserted the military just for a chance to fight Jin again. Not to mention Baek is incredibly badass and Hwoarang is his student, it's awesome to see him getting some of Baek's moves and swagger as well. I'm seriously loving everything they're putting out
@@PraiseThaDonI do too but let’s be honest it’s not happening hwoarang got a lot of his moves in 7 and now he’s got them enhanced almost he’s just better than him at this point

One thing I love about his interaction with Jin is the serious face into the little smirk then the kick. No words needed, the rivalry will always be there and it's so good!

For anyone curious: Hiroaki, one of SNK's known artists and the man behind Juri and Hakan's creation in SSF4, made his design. It's also why he looks like a Buriki One character.
Makes me wonder if the Yakuza series is inspired by Buriki One, considering I alongside a lot of other people have noted Hwo now looks like an RGG character.
Hiroaki's design aesthetic always seem like the best fits for Tekken, and even more for Korean's vibes and audience: cool, confident and stylish character design that's grounded and versatile 😃
Hwoarang is one of my favorite characters, and I gotta say, I think he looks the best he's ever looked by far. I really like the older, more mature look they gave him. Also, I think I'm one of the only people who liked his Tekken 7 biker outfit (that and his alt Tekken 6 outfits being my favorites), but I like the blend of the Gi and biker styles. Overall, he looks DOPE! The King of Iron Kicks is BACK! And that rage art is SICK!
Hwoarang is cool because everything about his design matched with his personality. It’s not just his biker theme outfit that displays his delinquent side, it’s also his taekwondo dobok. He has an interesting personality, Hwoarang lives for the thrill and doesn’t let any rules stop him from doing what he thinks is fun. Despite what his rough personality would suggest, Hwoarang has an honorable side. He respects his master Baek and prefers to have a fair fight with his opponents. He rejects any form of supernatural power so he can rely on his own fighting skills. While Hwoarang is a jerk most of the time, he’s actually a fairly decent guy when you get to know him. His rivalry with Jin is interesting due to how it developed throughout the series. It evolved from a bitter rivalry to a friendly one. Jin and Hwoarang are now basically just the friends who prefer to beat each other up rather than hug. No matter how much they fight, they have each other’s back. It’s a typical example of vitriolic best buds. Hwoarang was even willing to sacrifice his eye for Jin in T7 even if it was just an temporary injury and he didn't lost the eye for real, it shows how Hwoarang was more moral than Jin at that particular point. Lastly but not least, I consider Hwoarang to be one of Tekken's strongest designs. I personally think that he’s the best representation of TKD in a fighting game. Hwoarang is awesome and I can’t imagine the franchise without him. 🤷🏻♂️☯️👌✌️
@@sean_image The dojo from Tekken 3 was well kept and even had occupants sweeping around the place in Tag 1. The stage in this trailer is actually some ruin or underground sanctuary.
Anyone else notice that Hwoarang now out ranks his master, Baek?!! Look closely at his belt. If I'm not lying, I counted 9 white stripes which means that he ranks 9th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. Whilst Baek had 6 the last time he in the game. Could this kid really have outgrown his master in such a short period of time
I normally don't care for Hwoarang but, his trailer looked really good. Like REALLY good. His character model, his new design and his moves really look like they got some serious thought and revamping. His move animations also look a tad slower which I think is good for balancing him out better. I may actually play with him this time around.

I think the reason you see a lot of nerfs to hwo is because the T8 system buffs him naturally (aggression, pokes, chip damage on block). I think no matter how many nerfs he gets he will be fine as long as he keeps his identity
One of, if not my favorite redesign so far, I'm very surprised that they completely ditched the dumb anime pirate k-pop singer design in favor of something that looks like the next evolution of his Tekken 4 design, seriously, he looks tanned and his hair is darker and redder, that was only a thing in T4, in the rest of the series, he'd usually be pretty pale and his hair was light orange, also I'm liking the integration of Baek moves in in his moveset, both the T4 look and the Baek moves make him look older and more mature.
Even if i am kinda sad that Baek wont return due to so much moves Hwo inherited from him, i also kinda like it. Fighting games cant recycle same characters every game. It also gives Hwoarang development. Hwoarang´s master now lives through him.
Hwoarang now has stable, easy to execute ws launcher, an approach tool that's as badass as it should be and is what he always lacked, and a tracking sweep.
Cheers MMS, I must say I am falling in love even more with Hwoa afterseeing his combos in slo-mo. Check how his attacks are animated, they are just incredible. So smooth, so detailed. very well done.
Also I have been bitching about Jin's sudden change in style and that the bromance between him and Jin is lacking. But if Hwoa knows something about something happening to Beak and has taken up the mantle of his master, then that might explain the sudden and drastic change in attitude.
Not sure if TMM mentioned this, but I like the fact that Hwoarang's rageart is not locked into flamingo. He can finally do a panic rage-art. Also, I think they nerfed the hellsweep. He's doing a d+4 after d+3,4 there, so he might have a more pressure (but safer) low option from his d+3,4. Low risk, mid rewards with super oppressive frames, and being able to get in with a homing mid into RFF (He now has access to ez JFSRs, another d+3,4, or maybe d+4, etc). RFS b+3 is a nerf I'll take anyday if it means he has a good neutral engager now, not to mention a seemingly good WS punisher in WS+2, 3 that also came from Baek. Trading well deserved nerfs for really good buffs IMO The sparks might be similar to starburst. His KND hellsweep might only be accessible when he's in heatmode, but as a trade, itll be a plus on hit pressure low that might no longer be launch punishable. Yur not trading your lifebar for a low, lmao
I think the look change with him appearing older is more to do with his own character growth. Ever since Hwaorang came into tekken he's been presented as the hot headed kid always looking for a fight with anybody just to beat them and show he's the best fighter. You can see that in basically all his tekken endings (except maybe 6). I think for tekken 8, Hwaorang has now matured enough to no longer go chasing after fights and has greatly improved his skill (the belt on his outfit is a higher dan than those before, must be 8th if I'm not mistaken). Him smirking jin off was just to show he's past his rivalry and knows he can beat him because he did it in T5(I think the canon events of the tournament were that hwaorang beat Jin. But devil Jin interfered and beat him nearly to death and hospitalised him making jin proceed by default) since recovering he's been training and is now carrying on the lagacy of Baek. He's the strongest he's ever been and doesn't need to run his mouth as much. He just looks at Jin and smiles with no fearof the devil jin whatsoever
His face is pointier with his chin in a more acute angle, probably to contrast with jin who now has a more round face, maybe they could make the transition less jarring if they also accentuated his cheek bone, giving him a skinnier look overall, alluding either training or some rough times.
The attack that wallsplated nina into the explosion is not like a new inherited baek move, it's an attack he already had, we just didnt see it often, it's also is 10-hit-combo ender

as a Maven main i'm not expecting to see her in tekken8, i'm seriously considering to learn either Lars or Hwoarang cause their strings look dope af and their models hella fresh and renewed, despite the nerfs i think this dude will be a fine fitting for my playstyle, can't wait for tekken8 to come out
I still have hope, raven it's there since t5, my fear is that kuni will take her place in this one. I will play steve if raven isn't available.
@@baldbishop1667 if Raven or Maven are coming in tk8 imma spam them again
That Baek bit dying from KFC lmao
Came in with the iconic Akira slide 😳😳😳
20:51 Hwo's foot plants on the air like it was the ground but its just air. Small bug
I so hope they bring GIGAS. i want him in tekken 8 because i believe his introduction as a beginner friendly character helps people introduce to tekken as a player. his gamestyle is just so simple to grasp when viewed against other characters.
i still kinda wish they just gave baek's air grab to hwoarang, looks much cooler
He looks more serious and focused. Great trailer👏👏
It’s crazy how fast the trailer looks after mainman goes back to normal speed.
It’s like it’s at x2😂
14:28 bold of you to assume that they didn't prefer an anime doll women.
Hwo looks cool as hell. I wonder if he and jin changed personalities. Like hwo is more emo/anti hero now
Absolutely love everything they did with hworang I just imagined his hunting Hawk would be a heat smash with animations like Lars or the rage version in T7
my boy hwoarang is a man now
He went from uwu to yakuza
Nice to see Anakin Skywalker made it in. Can't wait to play as him.
Awesome video man 😎
That hop kick looks like beak forward up 3
The akira intro for hwoarang is sick
