Pictures are great but a little caption in one corner just to tell me which part of Bradford I'm looking at and this video would have been much better!
As a young Kid back in the 60s I would hang out in Brown Muffs and Busbys toy dept and play with the demo toys they put out that my poor parents' could never afford to buy for me
I remember being a kid in the 80s in bradford. Used to love all the great toy stores at Christmas time. The arndale centre was a treat at xmas time. I think all that has gone now
Whats always interesting about these old clips is how clean and spacious the roads and pavements are, no clutter with endless road markings, signs, speed bumps and the like. Also no weeds and shite on the floor!
Destruction of the 10 platform Exchange station. It made York's look garbage. It was closer to London stations than anything that existed anywhere in the UK. Kirkgate was also better than Leeds Kirkgate. How about Busby's and the streets of hotels and theatres and shops that simply are not there any more, stretching all the way across town to the Alhambra. How about Foster Square? Bradford was grand and classy.
Awww..my home town and lovely memories....not a piece of litter in site, people wouldn't dream of dropping rubbish in the street back then, for someone else to pick up.
I like Bradford, pity the trolleybuses have gone. Is 0:18 Adolphus Street Station? I’ve never seen the outside of it but I have seen a picture of the inside and the shape seems to sort of match up. I can’t quite make out exactly where it was, but it would have been quite near to the Holiday Inn Express where I stay when I’m in Bradford.
Yes. It started out as a passenger station, but was out of the centre and became a goods station only after exchange station was built. I remember the outside but never went in.
When England ever English? , 1st to 4th century when it was governed from Rome?1066 to medieval period when French was the official language? When Irish built the infrastructure?
@@Chrisjude100 you could be right as it shows the Lister mill has smoke coming out of it. Possibly could have been the 20's or 30's as there are no signs of cars or buses or trams
I used to drink in there myself around 1970, after it had been refurbished. It was the "in" place to be at the time if you were young. I was a Mod and we used to park our scooters round the back on a Friday night, then ride home after a skinful The place soon tuned into a dump though, as I'm sure you know.
People who visit think that it's a dump, but if you live here you would love it, I'm serious the communities are awesome, also it's just some drug related issues around but it won't bother anyone that much because they have dedicated corners where they stay. Love it or hate it, just don't criticise it.

It is good to look back when the city was a good place to be, now it’s just a dump!
Monkey Monkey it really isn’t but okay.
It's the council's fault to be honest.
It’s the people, the council has nothing to do with it (although not the best council In the world),
Aqsa N ye it really is but 👍 ok

Love going Bradford everyone friendly and down to earth
Yeh during the 1900s maybe
The place had so much character in the old days. Those magnificent department stores like Busby's and Marshall and Snelgrove.

You probably didn't notice the litter, you'd be far too busy dodging the dog mess and the old men's phlegm.

I think 1966 as I recall mild butter stopped manufacturing from the 1970's onwards
