Hey, Bradford has retained its special character I lived there for three years in the 1970s and I still visit every fortnight on business. I still love Bradford, it has been good to me and of course the curry houses are the best on planet earth.
Gosh, i remember the toy store called wileys or toy master. It was a bike shop downstairs and a toy store upstairs. It just opposite where manor grove used to be. Around 02:20 on this video
It was beautiful in 1980s , kirgate market, John Street market, festive spirit at Christmas, thankyou to the establishment with multiculturalism nobody wanted, we have destroyed many city's all over country 😢
City of economic ruin, alienation, rampant criminality, unfettered drug use, urban decay, delusional councillors,....the list is endless. Lived there from 45 years, and it has been utterly destroyed. Heartbreaking.
Between roughly 1850 to the early 1900s bradford was actually the 2nd richest city after london due to its massive textile industry with over 200 mills in the city, now its one of if not the poorest city in the uk. Mass immigration sadly is one of the main causes of this, its a common occurrence in many towns and cities across england. Interestingly leeds down the road is in boom time with over 25 cranes up in the city constructing endless new builds inc 40 floor skyscrapers. Leeds, mancs, Birmingham and london which are the 4 biggest english cities seem to be surviving the decline, although those cities have bad areas because there larger they can sustain this.
It was on the slide 30 years ago when i moved away. I had the misfortune to visit today the first time in probably 15 years and i can't believe how bad the city has become, sure John street James street are prity dire but the whole district has taken a dive. Cars parked where they shouldn't, weeds growing on every pavement and road junction its like no one cares or has any pride. I think the council is living in cloud cuckoo land the city doesn't need a live music venue it needs a load of triggers and some public enforcement on litter louts. Very sorry but i think i made the right choice to leave the minorities have become the status quo.
3:05 Main reasons to visit: Alhambra, Mamma Mia Italian, Sunbridge Wells. Not alot more after that. Even M and S dont wanna bother with the place anymore.
Braford born and bread. In the 70's and early 80's the place was buzzing. Plenty of good quality shops and pubs etc. The nightlife was great as well. People used to come from Leeds and the other surrounding areas for the nightlife. Then the crappy council ripped the heart out of the city by opening up the foster retail park which closed a lot of shops down in the city centre. Some people cant seem to get over what was known as the Bradford riots. The Bradford riots that were sparked off quite literally by a handful of the far rite holding a meeting. Thanks to the rioters investors were scared away. Well done.... If people could get past that and realise that the people in Bradford seem to be getting on pretty well these days then we might start getting some more investors coming in. That and getting the council to lower business rates for the town centre shops etc. All we are doing at the moment is polishing a turd trying show the country that we are a city of culture. Hopefully now that Labour are in government we might get some more money instead of having to fight tooth and nail to get money from a conservative government. We live in hope:)
I am born and bread in Bradford its really not as bad as people say, everywhere u go these days u get alot of bad people etc,if u keep ur self to ur self u will be ok ye it is a shame Bradford has gone down the hill but I love it Bradford is home Bradistan 😂😂😂😂❤❤🤣

City of nightmares Born there ran away years ago Can't stand the place.
Me too, I don’t even like driving near it
where council policy is to dig up roads all year round ...........just to annoy residents
‘City of Dreams’ - only if your dreams are nightmares!
I live in Bradford,City of nightmares.
It appears that the whole heritage of the past great city has been eradicated
The building on the corner of North Parade that is now Total Recruit was the original Blind Institute, great vlog btw.
What a shame! I used to shop in the Morrison on the corner and then go into the market!

All city's are dead 😂 councils have killed the UK
City of drugs and crime, and broken dreams, terrible place.
Sadly that is so very very true.
So you wouldn't recommend a 2 week holiday here then?
Just like the 1000 's of Towns and Cities in the UK
HOW MANY OTHER PLACES ARE THE F**KING SAME OR EVEN WORSE. FOR INSTANCE MANCHESTER IS A GOD DAMN SITE WORSE THAN BRADFORD.
