My goodness, Helen Joyce is certainly well-informed on this topic and surrounding issues. I'm in awe of her capacity to go straight to the heart of things. She is on the ball.
What is wrong with people these days? This guy is just pushing against HJ when she is giving him facts. It’s not ok to talk about inappropriate things to Kids! Wake up!
I might be biased because I adore Helen, but she was outstanding here. He was rude from the start and kept interruping her and really not listening. But every time he threw a curve ball at her (or he thought he did), she gave him a clear, solid and logical argument. All this while being really charming and finding common ground (praising his comment on teaching children good values). By the end I think he couldn't ignore it as much anymore. Perhaps he might even think about what she said afterwards. It is great to finally see some semblance of real debate on this "no debate" issue.
Wow what a patronising tone from the interviewer. But great points well made as ever from Helen, who showed up his complete lack of knowledge and the fact he had not even looked Helen up prior to the interview. So lame! Getting paid to interview people and not bothering to even google them? 🤦🏼♀️
He cares about people’s “lived experiences”, unless they are parents talking about their experiences with inappropriate material being taught to their kids in school huh 🤔 He was scoffing and instantly took the stance that it wasn’t really happening when Helen gave him examples. Interesting who gets believed. When it aligns with his politics, he can believe the person’s lived experience and gets angry when he thinks it is being challenged. When it seems to him to go against his politics, he scoffs and downplays the account of the person.
Helen Joyce, once again, concisely, eloquently and gently nudges another BBC employee out of their lazy complacent slumber. I really hope reason is on the way to defeating gender identity theory but fear there is a long way to go and lots of kids still need protection from the ideologues.
Come on everybody...give this woman a Bell's already! Helen, you're savage. Keep strong Helen... I'm posting from South Africa and don't know when or if we'll escape the capture. Folks here still trust the BBC
It sounds like the guy has warmed to you a bit towards the end . . . as if he went into this interview with with no knowledge of you apart from malicious lies told about you and instead started to notice you sound pretty reasonable and disapprove of the same things he as a parent doesn't want his own children exposed to. Good job, Helen, keeping your cool and hopefully providing this individual an opportunity to re-think his assumptions.
No idea how that man has this job, lazy and ill informed. @bbc refusal to educate on this stuff demonstrated by his lack of research and arrogant questioning. Helen on the other hand clear and concise as always, and extra brownie points for keeping her cool. 👌🏻
Yeah the person booking the guests probably had no idea what they were doing. Imagine the hostility had they known they were allowing the truth to get out.
Well it was certainly rude and incompetent and stupid but he could have been worse. She pretty much got to say her piece and he hadn't done enough research to slander her. He seemed to hope he could pick a fight over Andrew Tate or claim she had no real world experience but when all those things failed he was only a bit grumpy.
I'd say you have a 20% chance of picking someone that cantankerous at random of the street. On the other hand your chance of picking someone worse of reddit is about 90%
He didn't realise who he was talking too, thought he could do a quick hatchet job, but rolled it back when he realised Helen could have intellectually eviscerated him 😂
8mins in and despite delighting in Helen's demolishing of this guy's ego, I have heard enough. I hesitated to leave a comment for fear of encouraging this unfortunate beknighted man.
This man is incredibly rude, uninformed and also disingenuous: "This is not happening- oh, it is?- then it must be great because it's done by teachers". Helen has the patience of a saint.
The interviewer got off on a bad footing, not even knowing the name of Sex Matters and what its mission is, and it put him in an ill temper that everything started with him looking uninformed and needing to be corrected. Toward the end, he seemed finally to realize that he is out of her league, and he stopped being tetchy and trying to trip her up - maybe he realized he was embarrassing himself.
Yeah, maybe I'm being more forgiving of him to say that, I think he realised too late that he might have had a really enjoyable conversation with her, had he not been a knobhead from the get go!
Unfortunately, this is where we are in 2024. In America we have few safeguards. Schools are often captured and controlling of oversight. Helen Joyce is on point. We should have stats on the status of all of the issues in this new movement.
The interviewer was so poorly informed. I found his interview style incredibly unhelpful, listening to Helen, who is very knowledgeable, would have been a much better approach for him & his listeners.
What kind of parents does this guy know? My kids aren't out of my company until they are able to speak to me and toilet on their own. As soon as they are aware they have private parts we use correct language for them and start an age appropriate mantra about how no one touches anyone else's private parts and how to tell mum or dad about anyone who does. How to keep your own privacy and how to respect other's privacy. Who is leaving their kids alone at 2 to be abused in 2024?!
That sounds like identity politics to me. We should listen to women and men who are right and ignore those who are wrong. Nicola Sturgeon has no special right to be listened to over Andrew Doyle to take an absurd example.
a child doesn't need to know about s ex to realize they are being Abuxed. Just teach the no-no squares. These are the spots that no one should ever touch you. If anyone ever tries, tell Daddy or Mommy.
My goodness, Helen Joyce is certainly well-informed on this topic and surrounding issues. I'm in awe of her capacity to go straight to the heart of things. She is on the ball.
Thank you to Helen Joyce once again!
Really shows how out of touch the BBC have been. The national broadcaster has failed so badly.
Helen was unbelievable patient.
Helen Joyce is so articulate and on top of her brief; a true example of proper debate, which is so often stifled. She is amazing!
Helen Joyce is such a good communicator
Yep. Brave and diligent too. Good luck to her
Thank God for HJ. This guy really just didn't want to know.
Excellent responses, Helen. I think by the end, you’d given Eddie some things to reflect on…
What an arrogant interviewer - didn’t even introduce Helen correctly - shame on him
Yeah, I'm not familiar with him, but he comes across quite hostile & snooty, & an all around knob.
Well done, Helen!
Go Helen
This bloke really is uninformed and rude
That's what I thought.
HE KEEPS INTERRUPTING HER. Grrr...
This interviewer is so disrespectful and patronising. Very rude.
Wow that guy is rude, so rude.
What is wrong with people these days? This guy is just pushing against HJ when she is giving him facts. It’s not ok to talk about inappropriate things to Kids! Wake up!
Makes me question people’s motives.
Oh Helen. How do you keep your patience? What a rude interviewer! He is so dismissive and ignorant.
Interesting how a BBC presenter got it wrong immediately. Whatever happened to shows researching their guests?
So you're saying he should have done a Cathy Newman?
Well done, Helen. You are a wonderful example to us all 🙏
If you were going to interview Helen Joyce you’d really need to be well prepared.
Another medal due for Helen I think.
Helen is speaking ❤
I might be biased because I adore Helen, but she was outstanding here. He was rude from the start and kept interruping her and really not listening. I don't know who this interviewer is but he wasn't very impressive. Helen was, as always, clear and informative.
Wow what a patronising tone from the interviewer. But great points well made as ever from Helen, who showed up his complete lack of knowledge and the fact he had not even looked Helen up prior to the interview. So lame! Getting paid to interview people and not bothering to even google them? 🤦🏼♀️
Imagine if he had done that. Would he have done a Cathy Newman?
Helen is fantastic 👏
This bloke is desperately trying not to treat Helen with the respect 😢
I could hear Helen’s eye rolls.
Don't fxxk with the Joyce, dude!
Haha, right on!
Helen was great as always but this interviewer was terrible.
I hope UK listeners who pay taxes to fund the BBC will write to the Beeb and complain about this guy!
The interviewer is doggedly unshakeable in his belief that there are no inappropriate materials being taught to under 9yr olds.
To think that the BBC used to be the gold standard for ethics and impartiality. How far it has fallen.
Eloquently put Helen ...
Eddie made a bit of a tit of himself.
Imagine having to spend time with that w⚓ .....
Helen Joyce, once again, concisely, eloquently and gently nudges another BBC employee out of their lazy complacent slumber. I really hope reason is on the way to defeating gender identity theory but fear there is a long way to go and lots of kids still need protection from the ideologues.
Helen as always is fantastic. This interviewer is awful.
Why is this interviewer arguing with Helen Joyce? My, my -- he's so out of his depth. It's embarrassing to listen to.
Typical BBC !
Thank you Helen x
What a shame the interviewer was so poorly informed.
Come on everybody...give this woman a Bell's already! Helen, you're savage. Keep strong Helen... I'm posting from South Africa and don't know when or if we'll escape the capture. Folks here still trust the BBC
Why was he so rude? Yikes
It sounds like the guy has warmed to you a bit towards the end . . . as if he went into this interview with with no knowledge of you apart from malicious lies told about you and instead started to notice you sound pretty reasonable and disapprove of the same things he as a parent doesn't want his own children exposed to. I don't know if he even knew that much.
Schooled him in the best possible way. I think she won him over to at least some of her ideas.
Joyce-1, BBC-0. That guy could have done with more coffee.
And a toe in the hole! 😂
Yeah, it's difficult to talk with coffee in your mouth I imagine.
As a CSA survivor I back what Helen has said. It’s not fair to put the responsibility onto children to prevent abuse!
No idea how that man has this job, lazy and ill informed. @bbc refusal to educate on this stuff demonstrated by his lack of research and arrogant questioning. Helen on the other hand clear and concise as always, and extra brownie points for keeping her cool. 👌🏻
Well done Helen. Shame the interviewer was a complete knob
LOL - someone mixed up organisations.
Yeah the person booking the guests probably had no idea what they were doing. Imagine the hostility had they known they were allowing the truth to get out.
At least the BBC is inviting her to speak. This is real progress.
His cocksure superiority at being the father of teenage boys got a little undermined there
He was so ready for the fight if she said it wasn't harder for him than her.
the bbc are sooo clueless, its a joke. Helen is a star!
This an is the worst interviewer I've ever heard.
This guy has the demeanour of a random man who has just been dragged in off the street, rather than a professional broadcaster.
I'd say you have a 20% chance of picking someone that cantankerous at random of the street.
On the other hand your chance of picking someone worse of reddit is about 90%
He didn't realise who he was talking too, thought he could do a quick hatchet job, but rolled it back when he realised Helen could have intellectually eviscerated him 😂
He's not interested in children's safety... Probably get a bonus for being so rude to Helen...
He is truly dreadful and quite rude to Helen. He is certainly not listening.
Woeful unpreparedness is a great companion to complete ignorance.
My take away is that Eddie Nestor is a total prat. Sorry not sorry.
Well done Helen. This interviewer not only showed his ignorance but was very rude
If an interviewer is going to speak to Helen Joyce they had better do some preparation beforehand.
8mins in and despite delighting in Helen's demolishing of this guy's ego, I have heard enough.
I hesitated to leave a comment for fear of encouraging this unfortunate beknighted man.

Tells you ALL you need to know LIVED EXPERIENCE when you hear this it is a means of denying someone who facts you.
The interviewer was so poorly informed. I found his interview style incredibly unhelpful, listening to Helen, who is very knowledgeable, would have been a much better approach for him & his listeners.
God the BBC is such a failure. They have a duty to inform people of all this and they're so gormless.
Who is leaving their kids alone at 2 to be abused in 2024?!
This guy probably. He has two teenage sons.
@@sahelichowdhury he sire doesn't talk like a parent, hope his kids are OK.
Take phone away from children
Agreed
The reason why we should question "lived experience" is so we don't end up ignorant, arrogant, and deluded like the interviewer.
Oh dear - such an uninformed interviewer. Clueless about even the basics of safeguarding.
What a lazy sounding and rude interviewer.
This man is not a good person
Why are they always pretending Andrew rate is the beginning and end of this??? It’s bizarre.
It’s a favourite Leftist talking point, maybe waning now he is speaking as a Muslim.
He’s rude because Helen is only a woman, not worth listening to, if only everyone had listened to women 10 years ago we wouldn’t be in this mess.
That sounds like identity politics to me. We should listen to women and men who are right and ignore those who are wrong. Nicola Sturgeon has no special right to be listened to over Andrew Doyle to take an absurd example.
Eddie from your semi conscious struggling demeanor, is your beard white naturally or has something dropped onto it?
❤🇬🇧
a child doesn't need to know about s ex to realize they are being Abuxed.
Just teach the no-no squares. These are the spots that no one should ever touch you. If anyone ever tries, tell Daddy or Mommy.
He is so rude and ill imformed
What an arrogant interviewer
Crikey, he was quite sinister. Glad hes not in the babysitting business 😱🤮
