    I am totally in love with this song! I am so glad that Annette Olzon in her element, and people are finally appreciating how great her vocals are, and the band in total is amazing. They are also pretty great live.

    I've always loved Anette. I thought she was a great singer and vocalist for Nightwish. Some of my favorite songs from them is with her.
    I'm glad people are finally appreciating her, especially since The Dark Element fits music to her style. They are doing a great job.

    Annete was and still is great in studio recordings. Dont know how they do live but studio track is superb. Annete has that original "flow" which makes you want her to pronounce as many words as it is possible, because has that storytelling quality in her singing.

    Hey Annette in the "Daisy Dukes" looks great especially since she is closing in on the big 50!!!! Good for her, she looks healthy and happy with her new band and her vocals are a perfect match for their style. Looking forward to the new album and I guess we will see if there is any touring after that. Likely they will do the touring in Europe, not sure how much they want to go on the "long" tour schedule that many of the metal bands undertake. Hey I am so glad for Annette as this band is really allowing her to shine with the vocals and the song still has excellent musicianship backing her up, but it doesn't overwhelm her at any point. Great reaction and even better analysis by you guys!!

      Anette just summarized all the complaints that she is not Tarja, so she decide to become Tarja:D in later video with *not your monster* she is almost 99% Tarja (not taking to note voice, night and day ofcourse, and this is not bad, i used to be huge annete hater, but grew up over this, and actualy like many songs with her in Nightwish, and ofcourse Dark element is another portion of her voice, which i grew to even like, with great symphonic music Jani writes, it another dose for Nightwishholic like me:0

  • @Aurinkohirvi

    This is like new metal Abba, with the high energy and dancability. It's like impossible not to move your head and body when listening this! I have the very same tennis court -phenomena (head swinging side to side) as you guys did listening this. When Jani started to think this project, he told he wanted to do poppy metal. In Anette's wiki-page it says she wanted to do that too. So heck, Jani got the best possible singer for the genre! I always said Anette isn't a pop singer, because in Nightwish she really did so many sort of songs.. and in her past too. She sings all kind of music, mostly metal and rock last 20 years though. Bbut in the Dark Element, yeah it is poppy. And the bright vocals are very good in it. I always thought in Nightwish too, that her vocals are very good for intense songs (not only to ballads and jazz), like Bye Bye Beautifu for example.
    I have one issue with this song. I don't get the transition in the middle of the song, the one before quitar solo. To me it doesn't fit.
    People say they hear "Escapist" in this song. And very true, there's much similarity to it. Maybe inspiration? It's not hard to think that Jani would listen Anette's Nightwish songs and takes liking in Escapist. Or that Anette says she wants to do something like Escapist. Antonio is spot on.
    I do love Escapist more, but it is a helluva good song and this one is helluva good too.

    Great video guys, greeting from Chile! Can you react to some of the old sonata arctica vids with Jani? There is a concert called “For the Sake of Revenge”, pick randomly any song there are all good. Anyways keep it up guys
    Ps: Jani is the composer of the entire songs of the dark element and he was also the music composer in the old sonata arctica albums

    • @Athaya88
      @Athaya88 5 лет назад +4

      Jani didn't compose those old albums, just a song, My Selene on Reckoning Night. I think people misunderstand this. For example Silence, Winterheart's and Unia all have the text "all music and lyrics by Tony Kakko". That doesn't mean Jani didnt have any part and that he couldn't write songs well. For Sake of Revenge is great stuff!

    • @josegodoysantacruz7586

    • @Athaya88

      @@josegodoysantacruz7586 everybody has the right to an opinion, but again, "all music and lyrics". "Besides playing, he also contributed to the band's songwriting with "My Selene" on 2004's Reckoning Night and "Prelude for Reckoning", their introduction tape in "For the Sake of Revenge". He has also co-written three songs for the band's first album, Ecliptica, "8th Commandment", "Replica" and "Picturing the Past"." Maybe this is what you mean?

    • @MadnessTW
      @MadnessTW 5 лет назад +1

      @@Athaya88 Yup. I wonder why people struggle to accept this. Reading the booklet if you have it should be easy enough. Sometimes a songwriter just doesn't want to keep making the same music forever and that's fine. Doesn't take away from Jani since he obviously knows how to write.

    I think the problems with some of the songs Anette was tasked to sing had to do with not only range, but also the style. When Anette had to sing Tarja songs, she wasn't just having to sing an arrangement for a different range. The songs written for Tarja had a different cadence for her singing style. Songs written for Anette demonstrate this. Her style was more visible and she was more comfortable. Here, it gets even better. Partially this may be due to the songwriters. Tuomas is a brilliant songwriter, however he writes around what he wants the band to create. He takes into consideration what he has to work with and then composes everything. The Dark Element likely has songwriters who allow the singer to input alterations where optimizations can better be made. A difference in style.

    • @Aurinkohirvi
      @Aurinkohirvi 5 лет назад +3

      Tarja and Anette are both sopranos, according to singer vocal range videos and Wikipedia, Anette has the widest range of Nightwish singers, but all 3 are almost identical: Anette gets a note lower than Floor, Floor gets note lower than Tarja and Tarja gets a note higher than Anette and Floor. So it's a non-issue.
      Edit: Anette did sing some Tarja's classical style songs, but she sang them, as Floor does too, in contemporary style. I think the "issue" with Anette is, that there is Tarja's version to compare. Anette is a very good singer, not just in studio, but also live. Both she and Tarja suffered on too many gigs in a row health and vocal problems, Anette probably more than Tarja: they both talked about that issue, Tarja thought this was the main issue with the tours, and that forced her to fight he band to cut the amount of gigs.
      Dark Passion Play songs weren't even compsed to Anette's vocals, for that album Tuomas had free hands to compose what ever.

      This might come as a shock to you Frank so you should sit down. Seated? Good. Ok, demonic grubs have crawled in to your brain, probably through your ears and are making you see and hear things that are not there. They are implanting false memories and messing with reality. Suggest immediate medical (or spiritual) attention is required. Quick, before it's too late

    She was good in the studio with Nightwish. Not so much live.
    I hope she can pull off what I heard on this video live. If so they've got a winner!

    This is the kind of song I would enjoy hearing on the radio, but wouldn't go out of my way to listen to. The chorus was pleasant and catchy.
    Her voice definitely works better here than most of her stuff with Nightwish, not that it was particularly bad though.

    With a singer who had some "oomph" to her voice, this could have been a terrific song. Instead, they got Ms. Olzon in. And there's an annoying keyboard sound in the chorus that is really nagging. Other than that, I liked it: 7/10.
