    I’ve played many instruments for many years, I have played in many bands and have written many songs for bands to play, I was always a bit scared of music terminology and found it hard to take in, I recognised that I was using certain patterns and chords but did not understand why they worked well together. I have watched your lesson today and it seems so simple and intuitive, you are an incredible relater of information, you must be a very,very popular music teacher and deserve all the success I undoubtably believe you must have. Thank you so much for being the first you tuber to teach me so much.👍

    why we have to use the F# and not the F on G scale??

    • @andrewsilver7048
      @andrewsilver7048 7 лет назад

      joe madden
      Major scales work from the root note and go up in this pattern
      *R (root note) W (whole step) H (half step)*
      R W W H W W W H
      G A B C D E F# G
      To put it one way, if you play chords in order keeping the F natural and not sharp, the third chord you would get would be B diminished and not B minor. Try it out and you’ll kinda get an idea.. Gmaj, Am, (B D F) vs (B D F#), Cmaj, (Dm) vs (Dmaj) and so on..
      Also, the 7th note in a major scale is always a half step down from the note you started on. In C maj it’s B, B maj it’s A#
      E it’s D# and so on
      I really don’t know why, but my guess is the 7th note of the scale adds tension and has to be close to the tonic for that distinct resolution.

    • @NormalChannel95
      @NormalChannel95 6 лет назад +1

      @@andrewsilver7048 So If It were A Scale, would it be like
      A B C# D F G A A#
      C D E F G A B C
      or B Scale?
      B C# D# E F# G# A# B?
      C D E F G A B C
      let me know..

    In G Major, the A, B and E chords are called Aminor Bminor and Eminor correct? why do you label them as secondary. Its the same thing yes?

    • @PianoVideoLessons
      @PianoVideoLessons  7 лет назад

      Yes, they are minor chords.
      In musical harmony we refer to the I, IV and V chords as the primary chords, as they are primarily used for harmonization of melodies. The ii, iv and vi chords are the secondary chords (and also the 3 minor chords in the key) they are referred to as the secondary chords since they are used for harmonization, but less frequently than the primary chords. Hope that helps.
      In major keys it happens that the primaries are all major and the secondaries are all minor. In a minor key this is not the case.

    • @talibhassan652
      @talibhassan652 7 лет назад

      In that case can you do a video on chords in any minor key? That would be really helpful. Btw you're doing a great job. You don't rush in your teaching methods and that helps learners.

  • @cjlocke14

    • @PianoVideoLessons
      @PianoVideoLessons  6 лет назад

      The C note in the key of G is any C on the keyboard! Just like the G note in the key of G is any G on the keyboard. ...and the F# in the key of G is every F# on the keyboard. Good question, though. Thanks for asking.
