I love the mirror Sonic and Shadow have with their first stage but in their respective ways. They both have to get away from the military but Sonic's says "Escape the military" while Shadow's tells you to break through it.
Well shadow is an experiment so it says break through the military while sonic becomes a criminal of accused of something (i don't know it yet) so it shows to escape the military

Actually, I don't think there's one single Sonic game that reaches the deepness of this story and the amount of things you can do after SA2B. This is easily one of the best Sonic games out there and I'm sure kids of today would enjoy this game almost as much as we did

1:44- 1:49 This is something that cannot be repeated in any "modern" game with a boost gameplay. This is pure skill, no scripts. The main difference between Adventure games and all the others is that if you want move fast, you have to learn how to control this game. Not hold down one button. You must deserve speed. This is practically a DMC from the world of platformers. The game give you tools, your task is to figure out what to do with them.
This is the kind of thing that puts SA2 above any other Sonic games for me. Everything feels mroe organic, more rewarding, more immersive. Work up and keep up your momentum and you'll feel the speed while going through the stage, play poorly and you'll feel as if you're going through a Mario 3D game stage. It actually feels GOOD to be playing well, modern Sonic games reward you from little to nothing since the boost button is literally a "automatically play the stage" button, even if you lose all your momentum you go back to top speed with a single button press. Same with the homing attack, you would actually need to aim it in this game, but also use it for building up speed or gain a little burst of movement. Modern homing attack just feels bland, it feels so still and... fake. Modern sonic stages feel like they could play themselves as you only need to press A in the homing attack sections since it targets on it's own, and the boost literally carries you through the level. Played through the entirety of Sonic Forces and no level made me feel like City Escape makes me feel. It didn't matter if I did well or poorly, it felt like just boosting completed the level.

"boost to win" is just forces and colors, the rest all have their own style of skill and memorization . i love sa1 and 2 but the "boost to win" mentality needs to die off. Edit:some of colors actually. It's more of a puzzle platformer if anything
As a kid, I loved this game, and still do. As kids the things we think are awesome, are because as kids they amuse us. We as adults need to stop being so judegmental. Think of that kid you once were, and know that on the end, there is a kid out there enjoying these games too. Except for Sonic Boom, that was baaaaad
There is not enough love in the world for that scoring system. SA2 had a lot of love put into it. This wasn't just a Sonic game you just play, this was a Sonic game created for you to master! The levels don't get enough love.

Nah, city escape got a better level design and is more memorable, but this level as the First Shadow stage IS perfect and IS a perfect contrast between the Two hedgehogs and their goals/personality.
When they remastered this game in HD, they should’ve had an achievement/trophy to destroy at least two jets on this level. You can take 4 out in one go but two seems challenging enough.
I'll never forget being so hyped for this game and then finally getting it for my 7th birthday. As soon as I got home with it, I started it up and immediately jumped into the Dark Story because I was most excited for playing as Shadow. It's still one of my favorites from childhood and one of the games I've played the most. Nowadays, anytime I'm looking forward to a game coming out, so much so that I'm pumped for any advertisement I see of it, I connect it back to SA2's release and call it "that SA2 hype."
I forgot if this was his first stage where you play as him, but talk about an intro!! What better way to get you invested in an evil Sonic than thrust you into a stage where you have to keep moving at high speed. This game was my jam in high school. Good old days when I was 18, early 2000, just about to graduate & spend my summer overseas, and playing Dreamcast.
Sonic adventure 2 is so aesthetically pleasing I love it. no over detailed graphics, just a simple night city. (i know the gameplay wasn't the best still it's really nice to play this game.)
Fun fact, there are actually tunnels just past the golden gate bridge in SF with fans in the sealing, and another fun fact, one of the couple of islands on the SF bay is called Angel Island.

Did You Know This Detail In Sonic Adventure 2: In Sonic And Tails’s Stages (Metal Harbor, Mission Street), And Shadow And Eggman’s Stages (Radical Highway, Weapons Bed). In some sections of those stages there a few or even a lot of moment where FIGHTER JETS are flying in the background or even nearly right to you, some people say that "They cannot be destroyed." but in reality you can. For exemple in the stage of the video (Radical Highway) 1:22 in this section when fighter jets arrives they will be one where it’s passing by one of those G.U.N Bots if you’ve got a good timing and concentration you can destroyed it. Just like what Sonic GJB did. These type of things that means destroying Fighter Jets aren’t that important for the 100% of those stages that I mention in the beginning but if you are a score attack master or even trying to get the perfect score of these stages destroying those jets will be useful for you, cause they can bring a lot of points especialy when you have a combo.
I played this level again because I wanted to, actually. Also, because I don't have Sonic X Shadow Generations(but I did watch a walkthrough of Shadow Gens)
For some reason this is the only shadow stage where i can’t get an A rank. White jungle? Managed to get that on second try. Sky rail? Took a while. Final chase? Got it at the cost of my sanity. Radical highway, my favorite stage in this entire game? B rank.
I remember everytime me and my brother would play this together we would always go to the bridge part where the little robot baby was and we would pick it up and escape with it or we would just throw it off the bridge and we would think it was the funniest thing every, good times

0:54 There’s a really cool but complicated trick you can pull off. If you cancel out of the Spin Dash before overshooting the ramp, more often than not, you will go over the bar and hit the spring concealed within the wooden container. If you pull this off right, not only will you get the Nice! and Cool! score bonuses, but you will avoid hitting the following spring from the one in the container, which can shave a little time off the clock.
I mean you grind down the suspension cables like fwshhhh. And then the fighter jets come in and drop bombs like boom boom boom-. But you dodge them, and then you go in that building with the springs and it's like bwong bwong bwong bwong
Why couldn't this game play design work on Shadow the hedgehog spin off version, or at least give two separate ending choices out of all the stages with a straight forward narrative without having to go through over 10 endings? to me it feels that they're so much creativity that could be explored but who am i to question sega's business practices, i might get to experience their advertising and marketing field.(SIGH)

This song was legendary back in the day def. one of the coolest experiences playing this game but sheesh this gameplay was damn near perfect 💀

If you cancel out of the Spin Dash before overshooting the ramp, more often than not, you will go over the bar and hit the spring concealed within the wooden container. If you pull this off right, not only will you get the Nice! and Cool! score bonuses, but you will avoid hitting the following spring from the one in the container, which can shave a little time off the clock.

Why couldn't this game play design work on Shadow the hedgehog spin off version, or at least give two separate ending choices out of all the stages with a straight forward narrative without having to go through over 10 endings? to me it feels that they're so much creativity that could be explored but who am i to question sega's business practices, i might get to experience their advertising and marketing field.(SIGH)

If SA2 released only 21 years ago and you were 13 when it released, how on earth are you 40? You'd be closer to 30 than 40.
