    What's sad is that some people (like myself) start making "good" money late in life, so when we do, all of this is new to us. But better late than not at all. Great info.✨

  • @Eloquentlyjay

    💯💯💯 I would definitely tell ALL of this to 18yr old me fresh out of High School.
    The one thing that I think I did right that set me up for success was taking my graduation money & opening up my first checking/savings account . I got my first job at 17 & that was the first time I learned about taxes 😅. I was so mad my mom made me apply to jobs but now 23 year old me is grateful bc it taught me the value of work . And it taught me what it takes to make it in the real world.
    As a college student who is about to graduate reality is starting to set in even more & now ik that there are more mature goals Ik I need to start working toward. I want to do it better than my “momma & nem “ did it. I made up in my mind earlier on that I don’t want to waste my 20s partying , getting drunk , having sex & following every trend. I have a future to build & legacy to leave for the next generation of kids in going to birth. I owe it to them , to give them better than what I had !
    This is some real advice right here ! 💯

  • @sharieedawn3595
    @sharieedawn3595 2 года назад +28

    Great advice as always. I'd like to also include save save save. That's something I wish I'd learned when I was young thankfully my daughter does. Also stay away from those credit cards until you have the self control to use them wisely. It is NOT free money. Digging yourself outta debt is hard work... I learned that the hard way...so stay away from them.

  • @traseebradley5415

    That point about life insurance is soooo true!!!! Whole life policies are fantastic for young people because once it's paid off you'll always have it and it will always keep growing. If you have a whole life policy and a term, you're set!

    I agree one hundred percent with this message. I came up in a time, where having a trade under one's belt was good if not a necessary thing. If a job played out for whatever reason people could do just what you said, Shuler, cut hair, sew, carpentry, masonry work, landscaping, etc. to keep a roof over their heads and feed their families. Such trades were once a part of school curriculums.
    This generation needs to understand everyone cannot be a Rapper, Gamer, or Influencer. Real life requires real skills and having a sold trade to fall back on is a necessity.

I've traveled most of my life and there is so much to see and learn that it will open your eyes to where you want to be and what you can achieve. Start small. My 20 year old grandson just solicited donations from the family and flew to NYC with friends. First trip alone but he's traveled with the family all his life.🤔😉😀

    All true. Seasoned adults should share their knowledge with young adults. Recently, I asked my nieces/nephews about their goals & how can I help? It's not always $$$. It's advice/guidance; sometimes just dream building. The more they're exposed to...the bigger they're dreams & goals are.

    I agree with all of this. The parents/guardians also need to be educated because kids learn from experience and their parents/guardians are the first and most important teachers that they will have for their lifetime. They also need to learn how to invest and how to spend money. Many of these kids are spending on sneakers, clothing and other unnecessary items that will not be worth anything for their futures. The universal thing that rich people know how to do is invest in assets. Poor people are the assets of the rich people because they get rich off of them.
