Oh heck yeah! The lead programmer of this game is one of my best friends and I love seeing all the praise the game has gotten, and I'm so pride of him and his team for all their hard work! ^_^
Not enough games these days take the route of a simple meal excellently done, and that can make a game truly stand out! I didn't have a ton of interest in VHR initally but after seeing your video and analysis, I can see the refined-to-perfection course design and blazing speed on display!
I don’t think I’ve seen a racing game do a better job of selling just the sheer speed you’re going at before. Even just seeing footage of it, it feels like there’s so much more momentum than in something like Mario Kart. And that’s just the cherry on top, from the looks of it. This game does so many things that I’m actually stunned I haven’t seen other games lean into, even just building each track to emphasize and encourage specific stats and mechanics, is something I don’t really think I’ve seen other games do much at all and it’s cool as hell. Then there’s all the unique minigames which aren’t just fun little distractions but important teaching tools for the player to learn more advanced mechanics. It’s always awesome to see a game with this much love and passion put into it, and awesome seeing someone with so much passion for those games talk about them and what makes them so great in your vids!
Got this game after backing it on Kickstarter. Love it and agree with all your points! Been constantly playing it since I got it and love it. Would love some DLC, new characters, or something in the future!
Randomly got this video recommended. The game looks like a lot of fun. I'll probably give it a try. Your criticism with the cars being too similar is pretty much the reason I clicked the video in the first place. They could be a little more different, but the style reminds me of Choro Q (it's most definitely inspired), and they nailed the aesthetic. I LOVE the cars, is what I'm trying to say.
Yea i did mention I was pretty much nitpicking there but I still wish they could have been at the very least themed around each character, as someone who's been playing racing games for most of her life, any game that allows a character to express their personality through their vehicle automatically gets bonus points from me, though it doesnt take away from how incredible this game is. Glad you enjoyed the video!
This shows that what Sega’s Power Drift could have been if Sega half cared about the franchise. It is well known Mario Kart got its idea from Power Drift and Wacky Races.
@@AstralKat Yeah, it was supposed to release alongside the PC version, but got pushed back for unknown reasons. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before it comes out on Switch.
@@darkangel2347 Honestly, I think you're right. There might be a good chance that the Switch version will be cancelled in favor of Switch 2 (or whatever the next Nintendo console will be called), kinda like how Yooka-Laylee was supposed to be come out on the Wii U, but that version got cancelled and the game came out on the Switch instead.
Hey! I'm really close with the main dev of this game and watching this review really put a smile on my face, and to see it make you this happy really warmed my heart. It's also wonderful that you understand all the little intricacies and nuance of this game and see it for what it truly is, you just get it and I couldn't be happier to see that haha. Also I will gladly forward your few critiques towards him, because I do agree that multiplayer rival battles and arcade mode joker events would be good to have. And you'll also be glad to know that someone from Playtonic actually has acknowledged the similar car sprites problem on the steam community hub and have said the Skydevil team wants to have 'em hopefully touched em up at a later date, because I too want 'em to more accurately resemble their art haha. I'm really looking forward to what future updates and potential dlc bring, because this game has a very shining future imo! I couldn't be any prouder of Colonel if I tried haha. Awesome review all around, you've earned my sub for sure.💜 (Also fun fact! The Rival Race system was directly based on the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series and I agree, it's a fantastic way to handle rival battles lol)
@saturnsrings1164 thanks for taking the time to comment, im actually a game designer myself so I tend to pick up on these things haha! I appreciate you forwarding the critiques to the devs and I cannot wait to see where this amazing game goes!!
I very much want to play this game, it looks stupid fun, but after watching the video, I am somewhat concerned about the difficulty. While I do like racing games, I don't excel at them, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried whether I'd be able to handle the later game.
It can be a bit much if you're not comfortable with high speeds, but the track layouts perfectly compliment the difficulty, and it's pretty easy to learn all the mechanics
The original post probably feels like it's coming out of left field, but I think it's for two specific reasons that keep this review from being top tier, which btw it is so close to being. If you're open to some constructive criticism, I did have some thoughts while watching the video... The intonation and cadence are both very similar throughout most sentences, especially mid-long length sentences, which there are a lot of. It's an interesting enough cadence and the sentences are complicated and substantial enough that it maintains interest for a while, but I think it eventually became repetitive for me. There's also this thing where the last sound of the sentence is extended, especially consonants like t and s sounds, which are themselves something that could be improved with a pop filter or editing. It mostly seems to happen at the end of any particular take, not just any sentence. Might be something that could just be edited out. Otherwise I think this review is pretty great! Good impressions conveyed, a rundown of the modes of the game via your experience, I like the focus on relevant gameplay footage, and I came away knowing whether the game was for me or not. Great work.
I think all of these reviews coming out with good results is because you've been given the game for free by the devs. I got it and refunded after one day, contol is horrible and cpu cheats like bastards
I wasnt given it for free lol, check my reviews on games like Another Crabs Treasure, I always disclose when im given a free review code, this is all my genuine thoughts
Thanks so much for watching everyone! Be sure to check out Victory Heat Rally here! - store.steampowered.com/app/1594060/Victory_Heat_Rally/

Tell them they made a perfect racing game! It scratched an itch I needed in a racing game I've had for literal years!

That bit about real life races is very true, the official game Twitter retweets all kinds of WRC history bits and pieces, it's amazing
Yeah, I've been following the account for a long time now and I remember them posting about it
Loved this! Old School Rally and Parking Garage Rally Circuit are also amazing similar games that released this year.

what a great video!! im intruiged to hear how you feel about Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers
Heard of it, never played it, plan to in the future
Great video! Glad to hear Victory Heat Rally is getting some positive traction
i miss the super scaler mode from alpha versions
I love the artstyle! Its definitely going on my list of games to buy! :D
Amazing looking game. Love how fast and colourful it is.
Looks funny, for some reason remember me SRB2K, is my favorite race game.

Looks like outruns chibi little bro, love it.
I can’t wait for the console release!
agree with all the opinions, and it seems fun
Too bad the Switch version got delayed, but I'm still looking forward to playing this game when it comes out on the console, regardless.
I wasnt aware it was delayed on console, hope you enjoy it when it drops!

It could come out on the Switch 2. A lot of PC and PS5 games can’t be on the Switch but can easily be on the Switch 2.
