    Hey Motorman, thank you for all of your videos! This one in particular reminds me of what I was taught back in the 80's. Back then it was the opposite. I was taught to pull on the opposite bar of the direction I wanted to go. The effect is the same though. Peace brother!

    Regarding swerving, I think it's also important for riders to understand that when you press on the right grip, the front wheel will track to the left slightly, arc, then track to the right. So you must allow for a little movement in the opposite direction. A 4-wheel vehicle turns immediately, not so with a bike.

      People that don't ride can't fathom how that can be true😂😂, I tell people that all the time, just push the grip forward, don't try to manhandle it. My bike weighs almost 800 lbs, you don't muscle it 😂😂

    • @quintmarcaletti4189
      @quintmarcaletti4189 23 дня назад +1

      Yeah, you can even see it in the video...a slight bit of movement the way he pushes the handlebar, then the bike leans, and goes in direction of the push.

    Thank you. Another way to feel this is on open road, ride your bike cross handed, and try some small turns. It's opposite of what you may think! I remember learning this several years ago. Kinda wild, if you never experienced it before.

    Great demos Jerry. Yes agree 💯 if you don't know how to swerve or brake at high speed you can die. Recently I was out on a back twisty mountain sealed road with 2 other riders on an old bagger, big cruiser & maxi scooter going around 100klm p/h which was the speed limit, and we came round a sharp left blind corner, and the cars had all stopped dead for roadworks. We didn't have abs either but hit the front and rear brakes and managed to pull up ok.

    I don't have ABS, so I just tap my foot as I hear the tire lock up😅😅

    Hi Jerry 🙂 Steve here from Aus , When You do quick stops in this video at 30mph or abit faster & coming to a quick smooth stop are You down shifting gears at all ??? Or pulling clutch in ??? as ive stated in past videos im very new to Motorcycle & just 2 days ago brought my very first motorbike here in Bundaberg to learn on , (a low powered 150cc bike & i haven't ridden it yet in any car park , il be starting my learners course in late January after Christmas, please excuse my ignorance jerry ! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🍹🏍

    • @quintmarcaletti4189
      @quintmarcaletti4189 23 дня назад +1

      I can't speak for Jerry, but ate the BMW pro course, for emergency stops you would pull in the clutch.and use both brakes...much easier if your bike has ABS.

    • @stevewilson8752
      @stevewilson8752 23 дня назад

      @quintmarcaletti4189 🙂👍🏍

    • @stevewilson8752
      @stevewilson8752 23 дня назад

      @quintmarcaletti4189 But do you downshift gears when doing quick stops / emergency stop ??? Or when in practice in car park at 20mph / 30mph ???

    • @quintmarcaletti4189
      @quintmarcaletti4189 23 дня назад +1

      For normal stops. Definitely downshift..because you want to be in a gear where you can always pull away if needed. But for emergency stops, no downshifting. You are concentrating on stopping. For a bike with good ABS, you simply pull the clutch, while simultaneously squeezing both brakes as hard as you can while keeping the bike vertical. (Never do this UNTIL the bike is vertical)

    Body English does little good. Unless you weigh more than the motorcycle. I’m not little, but I’m not 800 pounds. So counter steering is key. BTW, the cones are dirt cheap, and if you run them over, it doesn’t hurt the wallet much.
