A look at the 105 St Sa UTC GMT watch from German watchmaker Sinn and some of the competition in this very competitive market. Thanks to / onceuponawristshot
Interesting fact. The Sinn 1xx case dates all the way back to the 1960s and the design is known as the compressor case. They were designed and made by Ervin Piquerez (EPSA) who also famously created the dual crown compressor dive watch cases for numerous brands. This case was also used for watches like the Heuer Autavia, JLC Deep Sea Shark, Breguet Type 20, just to name a few. Sinn used these cases here and there in the 60s but most prominently in the 103 chronograph, which look almost identical to the JLC and Breguet. Other brands have changed to their own case designs but Sinn have kept the original compressor case design to this day.
"We love a good lug hug" possibly my most favourite thing said in the watch community this year 😂 your content is refreshing, funny, inspiring, creative and a delight to watch and hear. Thank you 🙌🏼
The fact that I just got my black dial Explorer II 226570 all of 11 days ago and still saw this and went "Ohhhh, I would love to have that." tells me I have a sickness. I have a feeling I'm not alone though. I really love the aesthetics and what Sinn represents. I want a Sinn in my collection some day, but haven't finalized which would would be best. The 556 A RS is a top candidate, but the 856 is great too. Realistically I probably don't need this 105 UTC in addition to the Explorer II, but damn it looks so good. Thanks for including competitors and all the time you probably spend putting these great videos together.
I just got aware of this model and I love it. Very nice review and a lot of fun to watch! Also the best wrist shots of the UTC I found on the internet. Chapeau!
I have this exact watch. Absolutely love it and also got the 8 series rubber strap from watch buys and it fits perfectly. It’s like having two watches! I’m very OCD about time keeping with my career field. Mine after 4 months and two pretty big drops onto concrete by the pool is still running at +1 a day occasionally +2. Sinn only uses top grade movements. Should be included in the video but great review and perspective !
Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming. Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming.
Good review. Liked the comparison at the end. I would have preferred a brushed steel bezel but that’s just my taste. I think I’d go Sinn, Formex, Monta in this price bracket, in that order. Based on your reviews as I haven’t handled any of them I have the 556ib which is one of my favourites. Such a good watch
Watching this again after waiting for a Sinn to be delivered to my house. You cracked me up with “did they even knock?”. USPS was supposedly unable to deliver the watch when I was sitting in my living room. I even heard the beeping of their devices. When I went outside 5 minutes later, all I found was the post-it tag saying they could not delivery. And they didn’t knock. Got the U50 BS the next day and it’s lovely.
I’m looking to get my first “expensive” automatic after enjoying my budget seiko srpd and I keep coming back to Sinn (and marathon, tbh) Just love the design and practical philosophy. Really considering this one, so thanks for the great review
Great review of a very fun watch. If you are into Sinn, I contend the Sinn 356 is worth checking out and is a better chronograph aesthetically than the Omega Speedmaster. And I say that as an Omega die hard.
I'm a fan of the matte finishing, plus the orange color application stands out nicely (but doesn't scream) looking I also find it hilarious how with every video it becomes more and more evident that you're obviously hounded on the daily with "what's your wrist size?" 😆
100% agree, this was the reason I parted company with my 556 - if micros can source well engineered clasps at a lower price point then I’m pretty sure Sinn could…
I have 105 ST SA, and it's fantastic. A lot of utility with a bi-directional bezel - much more comfortable for everyday usage than a diver bezel. Also, bead-blasted works great for me, as I don't like high polished cases and bracelets.
@@kdseydlorsky I have non GMT version. It has different bezel than GMT version. It’s 60 click bi directional bezel. I’m using it for minute timer and for second timezone.
Your review on the Vero open water kind of pushed me towards getting a watch if similar design. I bought my Sinn 105 UTC, and find that on bracelet it’s a bit heavy at 150ish grams. The bracelet kind of is uncomfortable for my 6.75” wrist. My biggest pet peeve is how easily the watch crystals coating is scratching off. I bought the watch to scratch a desire for a more toolish watch with a GMT complication. I had to sell a Black Bay 36 to do it. In hindsight, I should have kept the BB36. Anyways, enjoyed the review!
Of course I need to track a third time zone while underwater wearing a wetsuit 😂 Jokes aside that orange just pops against the black. Sinn really never disappoints
I own the 103 as well as the 104 and you are absolutely right about the bracelet. It's absolutely fine for the price point... what's your wristsize by the way?
I want an 104 ..have u any problems with the moment at all ? Seen many people saying it cannot be wound too much as the gears break ...or is that just bad luck
@@markveganism5003 I haven't had any issues with the movement at all. It's a Sellita SW 220... an absolute workhorse of a movement. Sinn also regulates their movements to Chronometer specs and mine keeps excellent time. Nevertheless there always is the possibility to get a "Monday watch" that has an issue. But the Sinn customer support is very eager to solve such problems.
Briefly owned a new Sinn U50, loved their tool watch utility initially. The movement completely ceased after about a week of ownership, which I know is an anomaly, but I never vibed with the piece for some reason. I think in todays market I would take the monta all day or the Oris big crown propilot gmt
Man that is one solid GMT! My only complaint about Sinn is their website, they need an overhaul. Do you happen to know where in the US Sinn can be purchased/seen/experienced?
I totally agree with you. If you’re interested, I’m selling my 105. It’s not the UTC version but still have enjoyed it. I am looking at getting the 857.
I wonder what your wristsize is? Why you make such a secret out of it 😞 😂😂😂😂 sorry mate, couldn’t resist, awesome review, the watch is nice like sinn. Cheers 👍🏻
I wonder how many times I should continue watching this video before actually buying the watch.... This is like, my 10th time. I'm getting closer to buying the watch though. I give it 2 weeks
Nothing wrong with this Sinn GMT Watch but this is a brand like Doxa that is really hard to find in the US. This watch is certainly worth considering if you want a GMT watch and have a smaller wrist. The Mido Ocean Star GMT is 44MM. The Tissot Seastar Powermatic 80 GMT is 46mm. Both of those watches are much bulkier and heavier compared to this Sinn watch.
Love my 105 as a daily work beater with many scuffs from bumping it on computers, desks, equipment, and patients! But it hardly shows it. Do it all watch.
Still looks like a Sinn. Maybe I’m too deep into this hobby of staring at watches, I saw the thumbnail and went like “Hey! you’re terrific just posted… hey that’s a Sinn! I want one!”
Really good watch🔥👏 and good review. The only thing that I have with the watch and every of the Brand is the Clasp. Its too big. It looks not so harmony with the watch on the wrist. Its to long. A little bit smaller and it will be really a great bracelet. But now at the moment not. I hope the in the future Sinn makes a better one😉
They lost me at "caller" style GMT. Not that this is always a deal breaker but I already have one and want my next GMT to be a "flyer." Also, at this price point if I were to do another "caller," I'd likely go with the Zodiac but this is certainly on par. Good looking watch.
Great looking watch, but the bracelet really should be updated. Get rid of the divers extension, no one needs that and put an "on the fly" micro adjustment in. The first link is a bit rounded and does not match the squared off case edge and the color is a bit different to the watch case. If it were better, I would really consider this watch.
I use the diver's extension every time I put on my U50. It would be very difficult to get on without it. Unless they redesign the main clasp, the extension needs to stay.
The new ways YoureTerrific finds to broadcast his still unknown wrist size is endlessly amusing
The lightning was a nice touch. 😅
It's somewhere between 7 and 7 1/8", allegedly. I wish there were more transparency. 🤔
What size is it?🤔
It’s a healthy 6.25, that’s for sure

"The snappiest GMT bezel I've ever tried"
Living the dream right there, Evan!
I'm happy to see somebody talk about this model. I've had mine for a year and thought I was the only person on earth with one.
You're not. I've got the one with the white dial on a silicone strap since last summer. Runs at -1 to +2s/day.
Is bezel is ceramic? Or no?
@@davidsonviray1403 No, but it has their trademark tegimented coating, which makes it very scratch resistant, and that I can confirm.

Great review as always! Always chuckling with the delivery of your humor!
The design of the dial and hands are sooo nice!

This is true, as a fellow Omega collector I got the Sinn 356 and its my favorite chronograph by far. Just now is Omega Speedmaster on my radar.
Why do I like the look of this watch so much
I love it!
Thanks for sharing 👍
This looks a lot like the Sinn EZM 3F. Have an upcoming trip to Germany and may try to pick one up there!

Another nice review! I'm a Sinn fanboy, but wish they'd update their bracelet/clasp design. PLEASE add an on-the-fly macro adjust for your divers.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Once you have a watch with an on-the-fly adjustment, it's hard to go back! Otherwise, it's a great looking watch.

Great review. New subscriber after this video.
I'd like to see them do a U50 GMT. If I'm going for a Sinn I want the ultra-tool watch look.
The hands where used on the EZM 2. The first GSG 9 oil filled quartz watch.
It was smaller than the UX.
The TicTac Indices are new.
Close, but the EZM 2 hands don't have metal surrounds and aren't fully rounded at their tips. www.sinn.de/bilder/uhr/960x1280/EZM-2_V.jpg
Can the hour hand jump without hacking the movement? Or is it only the “UTC” hand?
Curious about the fit. What size is your wrist? ⛈
Of course I need to track a third time zone while underwater wearing a wetsuit 😂
