The 5 stars is a reference to vintage Longines models, as they previously used the star system for classifying the grade of their own watches. 5 stars = chronometer grade, and that still applies here! I think it’s a lovely touch, and no more or less “pretentious” than Rolex crowning themselves.
It made the whole video somewhat patronizing and that is not tasteful. It would have been better to spit out the truth how ugly this Zulu line is without wearing the moser.
Sorry but maybe I'm in the minority here, but I wouldn't wear that gold Moser to a dog fight. Whoa....no offense. It was a great review of the Longines though.
My blue Zulu Time is my favorite watch of 2022. In a 25 watch rotation, it gets way more wrist time than the most of the others. Easy crown, great bracelet, beautiful dial and running +1 seconds a day.
You know you have developed an affection for a channel if you watch the video despite you are not interested in the watch. Thank you again for quality content, Evan!
I bought this watch yesterday. Green bezel gilt dial. In terms of cost it’s the by far the most expensive watch I’ve ever bought by about X3. I spent a lot of time agonizing over which watch to drop this cash on and Tudor was in the running, but in the end the Zulu won based on the fancyness factor all other things being equal. I’ve been spending a lot of time doing wrist rolls to watch the gilt dial glimmer and flash. I have to say I’m pretty pleased with my first “entry level luxury” watch.
I was drooling over this watch for a while, and once I saw it in person it was a done deal. This watch is incredibly beautiful, even more so in real life. The stars are very subtle in person, and contribute well to a very balanced look from top to bottom. I’ve had it running for about two weeks now, and it’s only 5 seconds fast. As someone who travels for work, this was such an awesome purchase. Highly, highly recommend to anyone considering it!
I've had mine for about two months now and agree, it's absolutely stunning and the quality is crazy good. Mine started off about +4 spd but settled in to around +1 after about 6 weeks of daily wear.
The Zulu Time is out of my price range, but I got to try one on at a shop during Christmastime. If anyone's wondering if it looks as nice in person as it does in this video, the answer is: it looks better. All the aforementioned details (particularly those diamond cutouts) are amazing up close, and somehow the dial never feels cluttered despite the many different individual details it contains. Maybe somday.
I have always loved the Longines logo. An hourglass with wings just looks cool, and it reminds me that time flies and to enjoy every day! Awesome watch.
I care more about the fact that Charles Lindbergh wore a Longines when he crossed the atlantic in the Spirit of St Louis. I think thats a part of the inspiration behind this collection and I think it’s a great watch to celebrate maybe a transition across the atlantic! Maybe if someone got a job abroad but wanted to track time back home.
After shopping painstakingly for nearly a year, I finally decided on ordering the green bezel version for my first watch. I can’t wait to get it and I’ve come back to it time and time again as what deep down feels perfect. It’s nice to be reassured I probably didn’t make a mistake.
I bought this same watch from Rob at Topper this past summer... Absolutely love it, it's been my daily wear watch at work flying around the country since.
You’re such a “D” I love you. Your humour is so understated underrated and down right unmitigated. It’s almost inconceivable that someone of your intellect could be so into watches. You validate my irrational thought patterns.
I like my Zulu Time. The only fly in the ointment is the really slow date change. It starts at 11:30 and is done by 1:30am. I’ve gotten used to it. Another thing I’m not sure about is the ability to regulate the movement: if they use laser regulation like some Tissot and possibly Hamilton models, it has to be done at a Swatch Service Center.
I have to agree...if ETA can supply movements to Hamilton and Tissot with an instant date change, I can't see why they couldn't with one of their flagship movements.
@@m60mgman Watches without regulators are called free-sprung. The spring is not held by regulator pins and has a constant length. To adjust their rate, instead of working on the spring length, watchmakers work with the inertia of the balance wheel, moving the screws or weights positioned on the balance.
@@Angry_Gnome the zulu time doesn't have a quick set date function either. You set the date by advancing the time. That's why it doesn't have a instant date change feature. Do Tissot or Hamilton have a jumping current hour GMT with a quick set date that and instant date change?
Thankyou Evan. Thankyou for finally making the point about “true gmt” It has to be the stupidest name I’ve come across when referencing a GMT watch. Appreciate the review. Very well done.
Great video!!! One day long ago, the Rolex GMT was introduced, and it was not in high demand and, in fact it was considered as a tool watch but fast forward 60 years....and it's one of the most desirable models Rolex produces..... I see the Zulu Time becoming the most desirable model in the Longines catalogue quickly .... the green dial is really cool 😎 and the bracelet is actually very nice
Love this watch, but I just wish the date window was placed lower at the actual 6:00 position like it is on the Spirit 37 mm. It just looks like the movement is a little small for the case.
I owned the green bezel one for a few months, but sadly, had to let it go. Gorgeous watch and phenomenal value, but there were a few issues. First off, male end links made it wear a little bigger than I was anticipating. Bracelet was OK, no quick adjust and I prefer screwed on links. There were also two watch nerd issues that I just couldn't get past .... First was an INCREDIBLY slow roll date. The date would start moving slightly at about 10:30PM and would completely cycle until about 1:30AM. The second was a very noticeable stutter of the GMT hand when jumping the hour. Most people wouldn't care, but for some reason I did. Back to the waiting list I suppose.
Awesome! Love to see a true GMT, built for people who care about Zulu time, aka pilots, thus the reason why GMT watches were invented! Bravo sir You’re Terrific!
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I always get a laugh out of your videos. In a good way! And yes, I realize I’m 3 weeks late to this one! Anyway I love your sarcastic sense of humor!!😅
Just to be the 4,506th person to say this, I hope they make a 37mm version. And Eache on Amazon makes very good single-fold, hook-less, mesh straps that can be adjusted infinitely on the wrist for like $20. I like them.
The size of this one was a concern when I was shopping for traveler GMTs last month and part of why I ended up with a Grand Seiko Mistflake. While the non-GMT Spirit watches also look nice, the GMT bezel just adds something to the overall look, namely a pretty shiny bit. I'm not a fan of vintage inspired designs just for the sake of tapping into the vintage trend but this looks more classic than vintage. I both want to go into an AD to try one on to see if I could still make it work but also am afraid for my bank account of if I can.
Great video, I liked the green on video and pictures but in person was really attracted to the blue on black, so much so I bought it. The bracelet is fantastic. The movement is for Longines only as per Longines head of Product Mr Miccio. Ciao
I just hope the watch brands drop the “extra stuff” from the dial. The stars, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, second logo, etc. can all go on the caseback
I just picked this watch up with the green bezel and on the strap and couldn’t be happier. It will go into my rotation and be my go to watch when traveling(my only GMT). I’d like to get the bracelet but can’t find it online. Will have to make it down to the AD and see if I can find one.
i have mine since July last year, bought it with leatherstrap and the steel for summer...i love this watch, mine is the darkgreen one..the movement is realy great.....greets BM
I appreciate the subtlety of your humor. I was going to use ‘love’, but that sounded over the top for a watch review, not to mention kinda creepy. I purchased one of these yesterday. Blue on a bracelet. I just love it. Oops there I went.
I could understand your prejudice if you were as old as me; Longines has a great history, but in the 80s they were reduced to making a lot of tacky looking quartz watches. But Longines today? They Rock! Tudors strongest competition and for a very reasonable price. I got the 42mm blue Spirit Pilot; then they promptly introduced the Titanium versions and I recently got one of those! I have my eyes on one of these as well, but will they do it in Titanium? I didn't realize it was so big? The way things are these days I figured it was 40mm or smaller! That kinda changes my opinion on it a little. Now I desire it even more! I would say Longines is my first choice these days.
I just recently picked up the Spirit Zulu Green Bezel insert with Gold Dials and hands on a Stainless Steel bracelet on my wrist at 6 3/4 it’s bigger than my Tudor GMT Pepsi but it’s wearable. For the Bracelet it’s worth getting!! The only thing that I don’t like is the 6 screws for the back case though I won’t be taking this watch diving hence I don’t dive so going to the beach or pool so 100 meters is MORE than enough. Overall so far this watch is Beautiful. I did notice something about the date past 12:20am the date got stuck in between so I just changed it though I will check again if it does I will take it back .

I love the Longines Spirit model. My only complaint is the hour hand is too short and hoping the hour hand can reach the hour marker just like Breitling Navitimer.
I think you forgot to put the micro adjust deployant buckle. There's buttons on the sides of the buckle when you opened it, you could adjust the double pin length. I wish Omega can implement this as their deployant buckle often damaged the strap by frequent adjustments.
I just bought the blue spirit zulu time with blue leather strap. My first luxury watch, I'm over the moon. I'd be interested in also buying a stainless steel strap to change the look up. Are they easy to change?
Thank you for the review sir, the zulu time one of my favorites watch in my collection. Sir what is your watch for that Day becouse the bracelet is different to the other watch?,,
Video very ok. Nonchalant comment. This Longines is beautiful, with excellent performance. Appearance is a matter of taste but you have to remember that it is very versatile. For a suit, but also for jeans. By the way ... Moser Vantablack ... impresses with the price but the appearance is 8/10.

Flyer GMT are “true” because the original intent of the movement was to make it convenient for travelers. Tracking two time zones without the jumping hour came later. So no, its not “dumb”.
Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning.... "Stop asking about where I purchased my strap" "Stop calling it a true GMT". Watch people are so delicate 😂, why is this? None of it matters

Longines, pls ditch the big brand etching on the clasp (etch the smaller wingspan logo, instead) and also pls use the quick adjust just like your hydro GMT model for this very nice Zulu. Thanks for the vid, man..
Very handsome but I'm off Longines (despite my attraction to a bunch of their models) after the crown on my new Conquest (with the L888 movement) got cross-threaded within a few weeks of owning it. That had never happened to me before with any of my watches and was a huge bummer, because even after the "fix" it was never as nice again. Ended up giving it away to a friend, though, so at least someone is happy.
