There's just something so magical about a sealed game in mint condition - having it exist in the state it did on the store shelf back when it first came out. It's like holding history in your hand, and it's even better when you have personal nostalgia and memories tied to it

I collect sealed and non-sealed games. I just like collecting. Super rare games are fantastic to collect - leaving them in the outer bags with the trading cards are the way to do it. Love finding old Wii, GCN, and Wii U games that are sealed along with collectors editions of Limited Run Game releases. I do it mostly for bragging rights - and one the collection will be worth a lot more than it is now (and right now it's worth a lot).

Last year I bought both Mortal Kombat 1 & 3 for the SNES, opened and played both
Videogames are made for playing, there's no point of buying just to look at them

A few years ago a shop called mediamarkt in Holland was selling off Silent hill hd collection for €5 each and they had a buy 2 get 1 free deal on too. I asked how many was the maximum amount i could take and they said i could take them all so i took all 12 copies they cost me €40 , i then sold 9 to Cex for €12 each and kept 3.

I collect sealed games that are rarer & sealed games of games that I own digitally.
I have roughly 150 from PlayStation, Xbox & Nintendo across their different consoles.
I also collect sealed consoles i.e: snes & nes minis, megadrive 1 & 2 minis and evercade handheld & evercade console along with about 20 sealed cartridges.
I most treasured sealed games are those that are low print runs: Pixel Ripped pink cassette, Blazing Chrome, Zelda Wind Waker & Skyward sword collectors edition, Haunting Ground, Pandoras Tower & a load of Perp games special editions.
I've also recently started collecting sealed game controllers mainly Ps5 special edition ones.
Like you I have thought about downsizing my collection but I can't help but keep buying impulsively.
As I've been collecting now for going on 35 yrs I think I've definitely got terrible FOMO.
Just recently I preordered Duke Nukem Evercade console bundle & steelbook Saints & Sinners Retribution.
I just find myself trolling Amazon & Ebay looking for new collectors editions & exciting preorders.
The worst think is I watch quite alot of RUclips gaming hidden gems & pick ups videos & then there it is a game I haven't got DAMN.
Anyway great video & again you do you & always enjoy doing so cheers.

I bought heavendust on switch from ebay for £55. I opened it as soon as it arrived. Also it came with collectors cards and stuff that i wanted to put away inside the case. I have thought about it and the switch stuff im less fussy about opening it. As for the ps1, nes and older stuff its more novel as a collector piece.

I only collect sealed. Specifically older model (Nes, Snes, Sega, 64, ect...) I'm 40, I'm nostalgic, and having BRAND NEW games older than most of your viewers is just a historical treat. I own the finest known example (wata) of ESPN sunday night NFL for Snes. One of my favorite games as a kid. The nostalgia flows from such things. Keep collecting! (CIB or Sealed). Doesn't matter. Never let that inner child die

A lot of people collect games without the intention to play them, the thrill is in the collecting. Same with people who collect coins, it's like asking why would people collect coins when they could just spend it. A sealed game in a collection is obviously much better than an opened one for them. I usually keep a game sealed up until i actually want to play it. I've never understood the urge of people rushing to open a game, just to not play it for an extended amount of time... Plus you never know what might happen in life or if you might need a holiday in Florida you need to pay for. Always protect your assets if you aren't in a rush.
P.S anyone who buys SRG, Limited run etc, keep them sealed. The digital versions are usually

I'm a huge Kirby fan and have been collecting sealed copies since I was a kid(JUST SHY OF 2010). For me a sealed game is a cool piece, because these games were sold with the intention to be opened. To have one preserved from its original form and release just adds a sense of wonder and feels nice to own :)

Its collecting items as a form of investment. I have 4 kids, and I will eventually either pass down the collection or sell it in the future and give the money to my children. The older I get, the more valuable items I want in my collection just for future value. I didn't begin my collection w this in mind, but as life goes on I tend to think about it more. It's weird.

I don't have any, but I would sell on any sealed copy I found for a cheap in a charity store/thrift store. When it comes to buying them online though, no I would not buy one online because any game or manual could be inside the case and like you said shrink wrapping ain't hard to do.

I'll buy sealed only to sell on. I refuse to have a sealed game in my collection, if I can't play it I don't want it. Bought Asuras Wrath PS3 sealed for £10 so I sold it and bought a pre-owned version and pocketed the profit. Really can't see the point to be honest

Bought sea of stars JP big box edition on the switch because its the only edition that comes with the stickers and soundtrack. Going to just buy it again on steam on sale to play it and keep the game sealed. I also grabbed tmnt shredders revenge anniversary edition that comes with the art book stickers and pizza hut coupon. Amazon shipped it damaged so i got a replacement. I have a whole month to return the damaged item so im gonna play it until im bored and then send it back while keeping the replacement sealed 😅

Anything before the Switch/PS5 (what isn't sold brand new) I will get sealed. I have loads of sealed 3DS stuff, because on the 3ds I can just download a .cia file and play the game, and that way I don't need to open the game. If it's a switch game I have bought some sealed games because I had digital copies. For example I bought Super Mario 3D all stars on digital and physical that way I can keep it sealed, the physical has not risen so it was a good idea. I did unfortunately buy a lot of switch games digital back in the day, I plan to get sealed copies of all of those games I got digitally once the Switch is discontinued and everything is on clearance in the stores.

I only buy srg switch games. Either from the company or ebay. I've sold off basically my whole game collection except for a small selection of items. I also traded quite a lot of stuff into cex and boosted my switch collection. It's the only system I collect for now. I've got tonnes of switch to play through which will take forever so I doubt I'll ever need to open any of the srg titles. They'll probably all stay sealed

because if you think this games will work in 30 years more.. no.. all those medias (cd/dvd/catidrages) have a die date

Fungibility refers to the property of an item being easily interchangeable with other similar items or assets without any loss of value or distinction. And sealed games are more fungible than non-sealed games. It's just a fact.
Sealed games generally exhibit a higher degree of "fungibility" in terms of their condition and packaging, which can make them more interchangeable among collectors.
Non-fungibility is the primarily reason why video games are considered, and always will be considered a niche investment. They are illiquid by their difficulty to price. Any non-fungible item is not only harder to sell, but also costs far more to sell due to an illiquid market, higher maintenance costs, and higher fees in advertising and selling as a result.
    £1 = £1 (high fungibility)
1BTC = 1BTC (even higher fungibility, due to the impossibility of counterfeiting)
One unsealed copy of Streets of Rage != Another unsealed copy of Streets of Rage. (low fungibility)
One SEALED copy of Streets of Rage (is slightly MORE equal to...) Another SEALED copy of Streets of Rage. (slightly higher fungibility)

The reason why people want to collect sealed games is rarity. Lets just say a game got 1 million games printed and everyone went out and bought 90% of them opened them and played them and then traded them back on the open market for others to enjoy now that leaves 100k not bought which sit in a warehouse etc so the 900k sold are probably mostly open so to a collector they want the rare sealed game thats available somewhere on ebay its not available on Cex because they sell pen played games, now the warehouse sends out one or two a wek drip feeding the market for the collectors plus now they are pretty much double the price due to the scarcity value, now take games with only a print run of 5000 or 1000 from rare games or limited run how many people will open these ? Not many so they will probably never get scarcer or rarer than on laurnch day, so the game that gets a million copy release, it's sealed version will become rarer than the limited run game due to being played with and thrown away etc 😊 so this is why people collect sealed games they are a rare commodity that just keeps getting rarer everytime someone opens and plays it.

  • @samhawkes6597
    @samhawkes6597 Год назад

Well, you normally pay a premium for sealed older games, so why would you immediately devalue it by opening it? Saying that, if you keep it mint, youve just put a minty but not seaked, so more affordable, for the next collector you eventually sell it onto.
I collect n64 and ive done 2k on about 25 games not sealed but goid condition boxed complete. Your talking hundreds of more pounds for sealed versions of what i have so why the bloody hell would i open it!

This sealed game market is a scam to destroy used game market. You won't sell it, and play digital copies. Once physical copies no longer exist the sealed game market will tank. I have comic books more rare and worth less.

Switch games will not be worth much due most of them will be not playable for example Wolfenstein 2 isn’t playable without update where PS4 and Xbox versions are and there’s way more titles like that.
