Very recently, my friends ‪@TeletubbyFan‬, ‪@liamfitzgerald6311‬, Hickory, Weyjay, and and RariTubby got to speak with and interview the legendary Nikky Smedley (‪@NikkyLaa‬) who was the performer and voice of Laa-Laa: the yellow Teletubby from the original Teletubbies series from 1997.
It was more or less a sequel to when we also interviewed Dave Thompson back in 2022, who was the original performer of Tinky-Winky from the original Teletubbies.
I wanted to join them and speak to Nikky but, unfortunately, I had class that day in which we were reviewing for a final exam. And when you're like me and you're graduating from college this year, it's kind of important to be present.
But, with a lot of thanks to my friend Liam, Nikky gave both me and my friend ‪@ND1998.‬ (whose shoutout is featured at the end of the video linked above) a shoutout in her iconic Laa-Laa voice. She's always been my favorite Teletubby so hearing that from her is nothing short of an honor and it really made my day.
But it was not a total loss because a few months prior, Nikky followed me on TikTok and I got to DM her, saying how much I appreciate her work. A very kind and witty lady who did such a great job bringing to life a bright and bubbly Teletubby.
