Honestly think Testament's magnus opus album will be the next one. They have The Gathering line up together now but with Skolnick on lead guitar, which is all that was missing from that album for me. Super promising, can't wait to hear it.

Generally Testament's magnum opus is considered to be The New Order. Personally I'd say Souls of Black is the magnum opus and I'd put it ALMOST on par with Rust in Peace.

Kreator is more of a C or B- tier for me because the albums after Violent Revolution all pretty much just turned into the same thing and at times felt more like modern melodeath than thrash.
I know you didn't make this list but, you can't talk about thrash, ESPECIALLY Bay Area Thrash, without mentioning Lääz Rockit and Vio-lence. Eternal Nightmare and Annihilation Principle are 2 of the best thrash albums EVER!
Glad to see Heathen in a second place, I consider Victims of Deception one of the best thrash albums i ever heard. Unfortunately the last album was not so good for me. Evile, Toxik, Exumer, Warbringer and Nuclear Assault have great albums too.
I agree with you on Testament. It's hard to pick a favorite album because they don't have a Master of Puppets or Reign in Blood really. My favorite is actually First Strike Still Deadly which is the re-recorded songs from the first two albums. They've just gotten heavier over time and I love that about them.
The Legacy, The New Orders and Dark Roots of Earth are the 3 clear standouts imo. -Burnt Offerings -Apocalyptic City -The Haunting -First Strike Is Deadly -Over The Wall ..the tracklist on their debut was insane!!!
There's some bands not even on there which I would've included, such as Onslaught, Xentrix, Laaz Rocket, Hyraxx, Acid Reign and the amazing Sacred Reich who would've ranked fairly high for me. Gonna go have a look at the thing and try my own ranking now :)
For me Testament has the best catalogue - thing is it is The Gathering onwards that is the absolute best stuff, and there is a tendancy not to give more recent stuff full weight vs earlier stuff from other bands. I am very tempted to rate their last 5 (Gathering to Titans) ahead of runs of 5 from the 80s bands. Not in terms of influence, but in terms of absolute quality. They have only developed incrementally, but it is the best we have got to with thrash for me. Overkill close behind.

Thrash is fun. I honestly don’t listen to much thrash anymore, but here’s how I’d rank the bands I’ve actively listened to. If Vektor was here I’d put it in A or S: S: (no bands I’m crazy about) A: Overkill, Anthrax, Testament B: Megadeth, Metallica, Exodus, Death Angel, Sepultura C: Slayer (never really cared for them)
How Slayer is not at the top of the S tier is quite shocking. Not one album from any of the other artists comes close to Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits, Reign In Blood, and South Of Heaven. Season In The Abyss is pretty strong, too. Later albums declining shouldn't take away from the good stuff, otherwise you shouldn't have Metallica or Megadeth so high. I'll echo some other commenters - where is Nuclear Assault? While I love that band, I'd probably but them in B tier.
Well Kreator and megadeth are my favourite thrash bands and pleasure to kill and rust beat all those albums imo but I could put slayer in S for consistency as those albums are great too
@@Questformetal The first two Megadeth albums and prettymuch all of Kreator are great, no doubt. I was fortunate enough to see all of these bands in the early 90s and the shows were amazing. Kreator is an underrated band.
Im not that into thrash but Kreator are by far my favourite. I really enjoy Sodom and Megadeath as well and you can't go wrong with 80's Metallica. As for the rest you can take or leave.

Early Sepultura, early Slayer and early Metallica are the only S Tier for me. Sodom and Death Angel are my favorite outsiders. In the newcomers, I really like Enforced and Power Trip.
