- #noname500 #mopar A quick introduction to My 1973 Plymouth Duster. Originally a 198ci slant six with a 3 speed manual on the floor. And a question of what I should do with it now? under dog 318 or 512 stroker?🤔

That's going to be a fun ride😊
I hope so!😅
Respect from Oshawa Ontario Canada !!
Thanks man!
Looks like a builder to me. Do it!!!
Yeah I hope I can get it up and running before to much longer 😅
Stroke an LA 360. I did. Love it.
That would probably make more sense than a stroker big block... But I like doing things the hard way😅
I tend to like to leave these kind of things stock, but I have to admit, I had a friend who had a built 360 Duster, and that was one fun ride!
The slant and 3 speed were thoroughly wore out. So I'm going to upgrade it to at least a 318 and a 4 speed.
Sweet!
Thanks man!!😁
Id do a small block with a later 5 speed transmission.
Would be great if I could avoid butchering the transmission tunnel to do it🤔
Glad you are keeping it a manual transmission. Hope see you at the No Name Nationals.
I'll be there. My duster on the other hand might be the one year.😅... probably not this year.
440 fender well headers, shortened 8 3/4 😮4.56 posi
10 inch slicks. 2 stage nitrous. you will need to cage the inside. I've done this to a 69' Dart and was in the pay window EVERY Friday at Sun Shine Drag Strip, in Florida.👍
I see a low deck stroker in it's future. I'd like to use some fender well headers for nostalgia alone.
Put in whatever you have available that runs and drive it around the yard. Make sure you video it so we can watch. That would be awesome
That makes a lot of sense.😃 Thanks Buck!
@@meanstreetmopar5368 plus if it’s mobile it’s easier to pull in the shop and do things. Take one bite at a time
1969 340 best motor ever
I wish I had a 340.😢
Cool car. I’d put a Six and A-230 back in it and make a daily out of it.
What's the fun in that!😂
I’d love it.
Yep, I would too. It shows how old we're getting John.
Depends on your budget, big blocks cost more money but a properly machined and built stroker small block will save a few bucks vs the big block and be very stout. Nos is also the great ( cheap ) equalizer.
I agree a well built small block stroker would be great. N.o.s is good when you know what you're doing. Don't want to blow the engine up. I just like the idea of a big block stroker.
Vroom vroom!
It will in fact go vroom🤣... One day😅
Play with the leaning tower of power first. You want to cruse and have fun without to much money, you can do something more later, probably a 3spd?
Oh! The motor it gone? I would find a 400!
I tried to get it going with the original slant six. The slant was completely wore out. And I couldn't find parts for the 3 speed transmission. So I'm going with a 80's roller cam 318 and 4 speed for now until I can save up for the stroker kit for my big block 400.
If you don't care about horsepower, stick with the 225 or go 2ith a 318... personally I'd go with a 360 or stroked 360. Stuff fits better if you stay with a stock-ish block
I'm going to put a 80's roller cam 318 in it first. And then later on build the 400/512 stroker.
@@meanstreetmopar5368 as long as you keep it running and take care of it, you'll get no hate from me... both options are cool...
That has an 8.75?
It has a 7.25 under it now. I have an 8.75 I'm building for it though.
Small block and 4 or 5 speed. You don't want a big block with no power steering.
I'm leaning towards a roller cam 318 and a 4 speed.
First you should get it out of that field
I would if I had a place to put it. I know storing it in the grass is a bad idea😢
JUNK IT
Hell yeah brother!! I might be able to buy me a couple of six packs and a carton of Marlboro reds!🤣😂😆
I too bought a P.o.s.1967 dodge dart ..$ 800.and
Sold the slant 6 for $ 500...so I guess I really got it for $ 300....so 14 years later it's a masterpiece..of brute
FORCE...@ 725 hp..plus A 200 shot of nitrous..
So I'm into it for over $ 35,000 and I got a 1992 la
360 roller block.from a truck..and built the hell out of the
Engine.. a 360 is a very good base motor..I have built
Two..360 s..my race motor and my street motor..
On pump gas..with a ported set of vintage 1972 j head's
And a port matched Edelbrock torker ll manifold..
Holly 850..it's about the combo of parts..I picked
Out ..in the neighborhood of 500 hp..
Sweet!... Maybe one day I'll this p.o.s up and running. Hauling ass and the like... I think I'll throw a roller cam 318 with some home ported heads and a 4 speed in it. Can't forget about the 3.55 sure-grip 8 3/4. It'll be fun until I get tired of it and build the big block stroker. I know a well built small block stroker could go toe to toe with a built big block stroker... But I just like the way a big block runs in an a-body.
