I put this off for months, did it in the driveway on jack stands, no impact tools, did use 3/4 drive breaker and ratchet for axle bolt, took me 4 hours total. Could not have done it without you. Thanks!

2010 Ford Escape XLS 2.5l - When we battle we lose ourselves, especially with brothers in arms. Thanks for this video man and noted you told another, “some won’t come out the top”. Not sure if that’s V6, the four wheel drive version or what? But, Im here to contribute, the 2.5L XLS, I was able to access the bottom two bolts and stud to remove, between the frame cross and the motor, wasn’t rough, 15 minutes. Then the top bolt/stud from the top, and pull it out the top. I just took off the tire and unbuttoned that shroud around the bottom of the wheel well so when I get the alternator back in I can access the tensioner when I put the new belt on. I cannot begin to tell you how glad I was that I didn’t have to remove the brake caliper, etc… to get this thing out. If you, are anyone else who has worked on “the kind that require taking it out the bottom” like your method, please post and save a LOT OF GUYS A LOT OF TIME BECAUSE IT”S NOT NECESSSARY for the 2.5L. Thank you.

Update..
I found out, as a shade tree mechanic, sometimes there aren't short cuts.. Lol! Now I have to put back some screws I didn't have to take off. This is one of the worst alternator jobs!

imho, this is THE ford escape 3.0 nightmare DYI repair.
$1500+ plus for mechanic to do it.
so many places for old rusty bolts to snap or the bolt heads to become stripped so that you can't easily remove them.
you could be without your car if you start this job and get in over your head.. prepare for the worst in advance.
Did this on 2007 3.0 this past weekend, in a driveway. Didn't have 30mm to remove hub, so just left it attached to shaft, disconnected steering and no problem. Actually may have given a little more room to work in...

Absolutely a great video you clearly know what you’re doing, only gave the thumbs down because I am trying to get the Top bolt off of the alternator and it’s a nightmare, was hoping for some type of verbal hint or information of any kind ,Sadly I did not get anything but definitely a great video
Just.did one alot of step that are not showed top stud removal there's a plastic cover missing someone never put it on that's not the first alternator replaced 😉 on that car
You can move through spark plug cover to yhe side and take alternator out from the top and not have to even take the wheel off!! Why make it more complicated.?
yes some of the ford escape you can remove at the top, but others not,

I’ve worked on many many alternators over the years and never witnessed any replacement that required this amount of dissasembly. How do you know which will come out the top and which have to come out like this?

I've done dozens of these junk alternator's , That air cooler tube is useless, I think that's part the reason why these alternator's over heat.
