  • Welcome back to the Beginning Of, where we describe how things began and are impacting our world! We are so glad to have you along for the ride. On this channel you could learn about events and cities you never knew existed and how they came to be.
The events that took place after her refusal definitely made a difference. Her act of defiance started a movement all around the country. It was a chance to bring people together. Already involved with civil rights activism as secretary for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Rosa Park called E.D. Nixon, a Black civil rights activist, to bail her out of jail. Nixon decided that Rosa Parks’ case could be used to protest the seating policy along with similar unfair policies. It was decided that on the day the case is going to be heard in the court, all the black people in Montgomery would boycott the bus and would walk to their work. It was to show that she was not the only one who's tired of slavery. Fifty thousand flyers were printed to make people aware of Rosa’s arrest and boycott. On Monday the fifth of December, Rosa Park was found guilty and fined $14, which, was a lot of money back then. But what happened outside was truly unbelievable. Nearly forty thousand black people didn’t take the bus to work or school. Some marched, and rode bicycles while others shared cars. It was one of the rarest times in human history that everyone came together. There were so many of them that it was impossible to ignore. But what I’m about to tell you next will blow your minds. The protest didn’t end on fifth December, but instead it lasted for 381 days. The devotion and resilience that the people of Montgomery showed is commendable. The aftermath of the protest resulted in almost empty buses thereby resulting in massive losses for the bus companies. This immediately became talk of the town since it was all over the news. Eventually the Government has to do something. They made a new rule that allowed black people to sit wherever they want and not in the separate section. They also were no longer forced to give up their seats to the white passengers. Rosa Parks courage and determination became a voice for the black people. Her act of defiance was a step towards equality and justice.
    Aftermath:
The boycott and its successful outcome triggered other civil rights protests over the years. Rosa Parks became the face of the battle against inequality. The bus in which Rosa Parks was sitting has been restored and is currently displayed in the Henry Ford Museum. The bus incident led to the formation of the Montgomery Improvement Association, led by the young pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
    Rosa Parks Day:
Rosa Parks Day is celebrated in the United States on December 1 to honor the brave civil rights activist Rosa Park. In some parts of the country it is also celebrated on 4th of February, the day of her birthday. Her contributions have been most impactful to the movement, but it was her refusal to give up her seat on a bus that really changed the world. Her fearlessness is an example to follow, and this day serves to promote equality and civil liberties for all people in the United States. The event is marked by events and activities arranged by organizations, government leaders, and church figures.

Claudette Colvin is the true hero and is the reason for the bus boycott. Rosa Parks and the NAACP stole this woman's story because Claudette Colvin was 15 years old, unwed and pregnant, so the NAACP did not want her to be the face of a movement. So Rosa Parks did the exact same thing that Miss Colvin did and she ended up being a "false" hero

They didnt stole her story she did it first then rosa parks did it herself and they chose Rosa Park to lead the movment because Claudette as you said fell pregnant

@@sgjdsyevkfhao exactly my point. When you take what someone else did and re-enact the same scenario as if you were the first person to do it. That is stealing someone else's story. And what did Ms Colvin get out of it? Nothing. Rosa Parks got all of the fame and recognition from something that she re-enacted.

@@judyamburn9745 yes but I also feel it is wrong to say she stole her story because all black people experienced it, everyone experienced jim crow and racism etc and it is wrong to say just one is allowed to rebel black people have always fough back since people started to get kiddnapped in the middle if the nigth from africas hearth that is to say like only the first person to escape slayery is allowed to do it everyone else is stealing their story, everyone is allowed to figth back and in almost all cases since humans have existed for 200 000 years what ever we do has been done before and everyone is allowed to figth back against discrimination if just one person did it nothing would happend it never takes just one person when we are one entire earth full off then who need everyone one.
In a way she "stole her story" yes becuase she said she was the first because the movment would not have worked without clear instructions and a clear story but tbh i would say it is more people reteilling the story rather than Rosa parks fault who completly ignore Odette, you know how white people are like and tend to talk about racism "oh black hisory month yes Martin Luther King Rosa Parks and yeah like slavery ages ago, over with done yeah and now racism doesnt exist anymore yeah like maybe one kkk member but nor really they are just missunderstod" and pretends like rasism doesnt exist anmore and maybe because they are racist themselfs and you cant see what is rigth infront of your own very nose but my point is off all we hear if rosa parks how much us really what se said and did herself we just hear about her sitting down ln the buss and sit down to stand up slogan but she was in a way a political leader(not like president but spokes person) and a freedom figther figthing against the entire system but most if what we hear about rosa parks us just something short in school like she refused to stand on the buss and thats it my point being did she really "stole oddetes story or did the people retelling the story and talking about rosa parks?
In many cases i feel like we talk about leaders when it really was the people.

@@sgjdsyevkfhao I completely understand your point. However if someone or a group of ppl is retelling a story, I believe one should give credit where credit is due. It is now 60 something years later and most ppl still do not know Claudette Colvins' story and that is a shame. Why not give this woman the recognition she deserves? Because the NAACP still wants ppl to beleive that Rosa Parks came up with the idea all by herself and that is a lie. Stealing, lying, whatever, to start a movement is wrong to me. I'm just saying that Mrs Covin deserves the recognition, don't you??

Rosa's victory is often misrepresented as a victory for black people. Where were all the black "men" when Rosa was under attack? Hiding, trembling, sniveling. It's actually a victory for women-NOT black people.
