Chett, you usually say when you v3nture out of the local town and into a surrounding area. I may have missed it but the Flying Armadillo and 5 Mike Dam are both in San Marcos. Hays City Store is closer to Driftwood. Great that you went to these locals but give credit where credit is do.

Moved to Kyle in 1992 after completing a 6 year enlistment in the Air Force at Bergstorm AFB. We had about 2000 people living in the Kyle area. Today we are around 70K.

Do not waste your time at the Texas pie company. We traveled over 4 hours to visit over spring break. We checked the hours, and they did not close until 6 pm. We arrived around 2 pm. We were planning on having lunch and a delicious piece of pie. However, they were not serving any food. Only cold pre-made sandwiches. The staff was rude and unwelcoming. The seating area was small with very little room. Even though we were disappointed, we still wanted to try the pie. They do not serve pie by the slice. Their personal size pie is smaller than a banquet pot pie and cost $6. All their pies on display look like a third grader made them. We were so disappointed and ended up eating a couple of towns over.

I live like 10 mins ago from this place. I love their pie, the staff is always nice… I never had a bad experience in this place. Also their cheesecake is AMAZING!!! Maybe you need to give them a 2nd chance, but call them ahead just in case 😉

@@RebecaAnaisRoth why would I call ahead? I may give them another try, but we already made a special trip there just to try it. I am not going out of my way for a business that could not be bothered. Nothing depicted in this episode was right. Their staff was rude. The seating area was tiny. They refused to serve any food. The few pies they had available looked like they had been dropped or made by a blind four year old. Nothing was available by the slice. The prices were way too high for the apparent quality.
The one good thing was, it was a nice drive there.

Kyle, Texas is one of these little Austin exurbs that attracted the UT grads wanting to start a family and keep the “big little town in Texas” feel but are fleeing the damage done to Austin from the Californian locusts. Buda’s like that, too.

I'm Texan and I've never seen any one in texas wear this type of hat. It looks as if it's a Cuban derby type of hat. Maybe those guys out in Austin may wear that type, you know artists, musicians etc.. but your average Texan man wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Looks to be a straw Homburg, maybe. Given its German origins and this area's proximity to Hill Country, it doesn't seem out of place at all ☺️
