Ironic how Taiwan is there, but not the Philippines and Indonesia when we are not only related, but we are all Austronesian which also includes Polynesians… all Polynesians can trace their ancestry on their maternal side back to one single Igorot woman in Northern Philippines X thousands of years ago proven by DNA (humans, animals, plants), linguistic and archaeological evidence. Out of Taiwan had been debunked and the Philips the ground zero for Austronesian expansion into the rest of the Pacific. It says FestPac, yet the Philippines is i. the western most part of the Pacific, Taiwan is not.
Maybe consider how often Native Taiwanese issues are completely left out of the conversation in discourse of global indigenous rights instead of whinging and complaining. It’s great they’re finally getting acknowledged and have this opportunity to share their cultures with the world. Did you also complain the year indigenous Okinawa was invited to FestPAC too?
Why are you hating then? Let’s leave the theory out of it (which still remains as the best theory of our linguistic homeland and migration by ethnolinguists), but as Filipinos we should be supporting our Austronesian brothers and sisters in Taiwan instead instead of jealousy and animosity towards them.
Perhaps it's time to highlight the Aborigines of Taiwan. Historically overlooked, they deserve recognition. While the Philippines and Indonesia are well-known globally, the opportunity for Taiwan's earliest ancestors to showcase their rich native cultures to the world has not been fully realized.
