I am planning to start learning Chinese tomorrow (by God's Will) and was searching for videos that talk about things I need to know before starting, and this was the first video that came up. Your video was fun and helpful, thank you. You seem to have a nice and cheerful personality. 👍

Hey Jessie, I just discovered your Channel last week, I've been loving all your videos ever since!! 😍 Especially your quirky, sarcastic & lively attitude! ✨👌
This is the best introduction tutorial I have seen/heard yet! It covers the basics in a way that’s easy to understand. And it explains pinyin very well. Thank you!
Just started learning and stumbled across your videos on RUclips - love them! So informative and fun! You make learning a new language a wonderful and motivating experience!
very informative and love your personality!! Im really into languages and learning them and in hand learning about the people who speak it, where its spoken, culture, etc. So, ive been wanting to learn Mandarin Chinese after i reached intermediate Korean (which im SLOWLY approaching) and decided to start up on researching how i can go about that and just make sure im educated enough to proceed, so thank you for helping with this video:)
Ive been trying to figure out the basics through different videos for the past two months (I have no idea when work is sending me to taiwan - I'm very excited but feel very unprepared haha) and this was easily one of the most informative videos Ive found. Thank you very very much for this!
Lol your accent is more intelligible than some broad Scottish accents, I’m a kiwi and even kiwis and aussies can sometimes have very bizarre English accents, your English is very clear.
Learning a bit of Korean necessitated retraining my American ears to hear Korean consonants. It sounds like Mandarin has both vowel and consonant sounds that will be new to me.😱
This video lost me but I’ll continue repeating my tones and finals, learning all the other things my tutor teaches me and hopefully one day it will all start to click! 😂❤
I have just started learning mandarin and I am reading 'REMEMBERING SIMPLIFIED HANZI: BOOK 1', it teaches hanzi without its pinyin, is this ok, or should I be learning the pinyin alongside the character learning? and then when is it good to start vocab/combination of the characters for words.
😂Don't get fooled by the statement that Chinese word order is the same as in English. It may work only in short simple sentences. Chinese is a left side word order language whereas English is a right side word order language. It means that in Chinese all description in a sentence tends to the left side of a sentence. So, if you don't accept it right away you're gonna be in trouble making sentences in Chinese 😄 And one more thing: Chinese think in a different way. Let's say "What is your name?" a Chinese will turn into "You call yourself what name?"
I lmao as you stopped to say subscibe. And your spontaneity is just on the edge fun/cringe, I have love hate raletionship with you, but you earned my sub&like thanks for good content
I tried learning Mandarin before and failed... badly. I live and work in Taiwan so I should try to learn the language, but I'm not sure if I will try it again. Mandarin is hard.
Jessie, even the people that invented English, speak English with different accents... In England one of the accents is known as a Cockney Accent, then there's the East End accent and the Northern accents... So there is no correct accent for English because even in the Native country they have different accents
I've been learning for about 4 months, and I'm using simplified characters. Practically speaking, you should study the writing system that is used in the literature you want to read. As a side note, writing simplify characters will be easier than traditional characters, but the real challenge in learning a language will always be speaking and listening. Don't get intimidated by the writing system, because that's not the hard part of language learning.
American English doesn't have a spoken standard test. For British English, there is the "King's Englisn" standard. The BBC also has standards of how to speak so you sound like a stuffy newscaster.
Is Standard Mandarin like Standard Oil. It got too big and a monopoly so government broke it up into smaller oil companies. So if that happened to Standard Mandarin then their would be Exxon-Mandarin and Arco-Mandarin and Amoco-Mandarin and Mobil-Mandarin and Chevron-Mandarin and a few others. I was always called Moose since I was tall and i didn't know Japanese Kanji for that and there is no Kanji for Moose so none of those animals in Japan or China. So I figure it's probably big like a horse and has horns or antlers like a deer also I'm kinda big. So Kanji for me could be BIG HORSE DEER or 大馬鹿. Is "大馬鹿" a good Japanese and Chinese name?

I'm an English learner and I'm looking for someone who is patient and willing to have a conversation with me on a regular basis. I'd like to improve my fluency and vocabulary in English, and I believe that having a language partner would be very helpful. If you're interested in practicing your Chinese and helping me improve my English, please feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. I'm open to chatting online, voice calls or video calls, whichever works best for you. Looking forward to hearing from you and improving our language skills together!

The section on various categories of 熟语 was very helpful!
This is both adorable and informative. Well done ^^
