it plays well and has many builds and items, but yea if you only care about looks then you are missing out on many good games in the last 2 decades @@danielray6060
Not sure what's happening but it already looks more exciting than anything D4 itemization has to offer.
I would say the itemization is better in Last Epoch. What's really, really impressive in this game is the skill trees. Each class has about 20 skills or something. Each skill had it's own bigass skill tree. Love the game.

@@Trigger200284 the menu crap you refer to (probably) is the stat rerolling. It is like rerolling a stat in D3 but with more control of the outcome to a certain degree. It's literally 1 click more than rerolling a stat in D3. :)
Basically, Last Epoch crafting system allows you to put whatever affixes in the gear you want (so long as you have the affix shards from shattering other items, or drops), limited by forging potential. Adding each affix reduces a random amount of forging potential, which means that even with worst possible rolls and a nonawful base, you are guaranteed to get pretty decent items. But getting the absolute best items requires some luck, which Raxx in this video had in spades.
Tldr crafting tutorial
It's easy . Crafting let's you upgrade one affix by one tier at the cost of a random amount of forging potential (FP) between a set range . When the items forging potential reaches 0,you can't craft anymore .
Each item can have 4 affixes , 2 prefix and 2 suffix . Max craftable tier is 5 . Items can drop with affixes upto tier 7.
You can use glyphs to modify crafting results . Glyph of chaos will upgrade the tier of an affix and then change the affix itself . Good if you want to get rid of an unwanted affix for potentially something useful.
Glyph of hope let's you upgrade an affix with a 25% chance to not cost forging potential.
A "crit" is when you upgrade and affix and have a random chance of also upgrading another affix at the same time .
There are also runes that are used at the start of a craft if you to fill out all affix . There are other glyphs too with niche uses .
Sealing is the low chance to basically fracture an affix onto the item , freeing up it's slot . It costs a very rare glyph and the chance is low but allows you to potentially have 5 affix on an item .
That's it .
Best crafting system ever. One of the best things in last epoch for sure.

Can you explain why the first hope on the health critting was bad?
@@Riskyxoxo Raxx wanted to ''seal'' the mana affix. Sealing essentially sends a stat to its own affix slot and opens up an existing slot for a new affix to be added. Sealing an affix can fail. The higher the tier of the affix you are trying to seal is, the less likely it is to work. So, I assume raxx didnt care much about the mana and only wanted to seal it to be able to add a new stat. By critting on mana and making it tier 2, it makes sealing less likely to work. Hope that was clear

@@muskeys Ok gotcha, I didn't know that before but that makes sense. So when he adds the health and uses a glyph of hope, it can "crit" and change another affix/suffix too, not just the health being added? Then this happened here and upped the mana by 1 tier making the sealing harder?

It looks complicated at first glance, but having learned the ins and outs of crafting in LE, it's really not difficult to pick up. It's also innovative and fun.

I've started playing again thanks to you. Got my Sentinel to level ±68 and busy with the monolith adventure for the first time. Also had some luck with crafting along the way, but wasn't too sure what was going on. Now I just need to figure out how to find the Boss for the first monolith, but having a blast :)

LE crafting system is so much better than the one in PoE (and I'm saying this as some1 who played over 2k hours of PoE)
It's still RNG and you still have that awesome risk vs reward adrenaline rush BUT unlike PoE there's way more control over what you're doing. And you don't need to no-life the game to get currency needed to craft and experiment.
I have ZERO idea what he just did, how or why it worked or what the hell that item is supposed to be anyway. BUT... it was hilarious to see his reactions xD
In the top middle it says "forging potential", which basically is how much life the helmet has left to be upgraded. Once it reaches zero it cant be upgraded anymore. In the bottom middle it shows how much "forging potential" it could cost, it ranges from 1 to a certain number (rng of how much it will consume). Right under the helmet, you can add a scroll that has a 25% chance of not using up any of his "forging potential". That scroll's 25% chance was activating a lot towards the tail end of his upgrading run, you can tell that scroll was working because the "forging potential" doesnt go down. You choose each path you want to upgrade (top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right) each time and you roll to upgrade and see how much forging potential it consumes.
No idea what just happened but glad you're happy with the end result.
This looked like more fun that the entirely of the time I spent in D4 😂😂

If you're interested a solid explanation of how LE's crafting system works, a guy named "ActionRPG" has a PHENOMINAL video that explains it really well, with live examples.
He actually has two - a basic and an advanced.Both are extremely good and easy to follow.
The crafting is what has me hooked. So much fun

Good craft man. I would would recommend examining the rolls on each stat before using up all LP. Sometimes it is worth rerolling instead of getting all to T5.
I've bricked so many good bases while crafting... it's incredible. But, whenever I managed to get good rolls like Raxx did... Godly items.

Just realised I bought this game back in 2022 - I'm at that plateau in D3 so will give it a crack tomorrow.
From what I understand. He didn't want to crit on mana (increasing its Tier) because it makes it harder to seal it wasting forging potential which is like a currency that gets used up when doing any kind of modification. he only has 25. With luck he managed to seal it meaning he opens up another slot for an affix which he added str. He then upgrades the affixes trying to get to Tier 5 each time it cost a certain number of forging potential. sometimes you upgrade one thing and all 24 forging potential gets spent means the item cannot be upgraded any further. but since he was lucky he either managed to to use any or very little amount each time thus making it to t5 on each stats, which is very low chance with only 25 forging potential.
Learning always takes time...from very old person who from childhood found out that chess, or bridge were fun as well as training brain thinking.
Raxx has fun, he also teaches us lesser players.

This game's crafting system is just so great. A good combination of luck, knowledge, and resource gathering can help you make mediocre scrap into something that'll last you the next fifteen levels, so even C tier blue items can be made valuable pickups. Simply amazing

tldr; upgrading a stat during a craft spends Forging Potential, which determines the cap on how many upgrades u can try
He was using a Glyph of Hope per attempt which has a 25% chance to take the upgrade at no forging potential cost, and he landed the 25% chance multiple times in a row eventually landing in a helm with max roll to each of his desired stats

@@johnwalker8805 Every time you add or upgrade an affix on an item, you have a chance to crit, and if you do, it upgrades another randomly chosen affix at the same time. So critting gives you two for the price of one, basically.
Sealing means "seal" an affix into its own slot, making room for you to add another affix. He wanted to seal the mana so he could add strength in its place. The problem is that sealing has a lower chance to work the higher tier the affix is, so when he crit on his first upgrade, it also upgraded the mana and made it less likely that his attempt to seal the mana would be successful. But he got lucky and it worked anyway.

I wouldn't overthink it with items so low in FP. Just reroll as cheaply as possible with glyphs of hope. Don't even bother sealing! Once you get exalteds/double exalteds or T7 exalteds with good initial rolls it may become much more interesting. Also interesting are magic items with the right T7 affixes so you can slap on what you want on the empty slots. This is where you need a lot FP as you still have to level up the affixes.
Gotta use this as an example when you inevitably make a video explaining the crafting system in depth.
When people ask me what a good crafting system looks like, I don't point them to PoE, because it's overwhelming. Last Epoch has just the right mix of simplicity and depth, without the headaches. It's the most elegant crafting in any ARPG, I'd say. I like PoE's more because I'm a degen, but I don't think I'd defend it over Last Epoch from a design standpoint.

Anybody please.....I just got the game and had a question about crafting. Is it better to upgrade the tier of your armor/weapon before adding a prefix or suffix? Does it same on materials by adding the prefix/suffix after you get the gear to the tier you want?
All that with just 25 forging potential is fkin huge. Had exalted items with 40+ forging potential, but luck was not on my side. GG tho.
Why would you not want to seal the mana first, so that if the health does crit, it has to hit the anomaly?
It probably came from a fear of either whiffing the despair (which is more common with less number of stats) or the item bricking fast.

Haven't played last epoch, but wouldn't it make sense to first seal the mana so you have a prefix open, then move to craft health so it is much easier to crit on anomaly instead of what happened and mana got upgraded? Congrats on t20 though, that was extremely lucky

That is really funny sounds like my relationship with POE crafting.
This is probably the one game that doesn't need a guide because it has one built in that is totally searchable, broken down to make every thing digestible.
