  • I attended this @viessmann repair as a favour for a colleague in the industry. They’d diagnosed imperfectly, but it went further than either of us initially thought!
    Has this design been updated on more recent models??
    Shoutout to @she_plumbs for the heads up and making me see sense 😂
    Thanks for watching!!

    Am i the only one who found that crunching satisfying??? 😂😂

      It was satisfying to do 😂 on the old Vaillant’s it used to be so tempting to squeeze them and then you’d come to your senses and remember you are about to choke up the pump, canoe filter and plate 😂

    Is it hard to take the hose off the top connection? not really worked on these much and never touched this hose before.

    • @RJHeating
      @RJHeating  21 день назад

      To be honest, I left the top connection on both connected (return is behind the heat ex so would presume it’d need to come out for access) the bottom connections are push fit with clips so easy to pull out then squeeze the tubes and stick a screwdriver out/push the muck down. Appreciate the watch! The top connection looked like it wouldn’t seal again if it came off 😂

    I’ve had same issue as you with those Viessmans. Those rubber hoses don’t have an oxygen barrier. I’ve been to some that have had the hoses replaced (nightmare replacing the return at the back of the heat ex) and then the system powerflushed. 2 years later the hoses have blocked again - that’s on a system that is spotless. I don’t know how Viessman get away with fitting those hoses inside their boilers.
    Vaillant and Glowworm used to do it but knocked it on the head, who knows why Viessman haven’t 🤷‍♂️

    • @RJHeating
      @RJHeating  21 день назад +1

      Very odd, that’s what I didn’t understand! Have changed hundreds for Vaillant and Glowworm before so it’s a well known issue as you say! Ooh I bet the return is a nightmare! I couldn’t even access it properly for this, had to just squeeze up as much as I could, not great when the heat exchangers just cut out on temp 🥵

      @brendanwilkes5333 21 день назад

      @@RJHeating to replace the return you have to take the heat ex out - and it gets better. To get the heat ex out you have to life the flue out of the top of the heat ex (on the couple I’ve done I had to). Good luck lifting the flue out if it’s been cemented in. Luckily for me both times I did it the flue route wasn’t sealed in.

    Top vid Ritchie❤. Atleast you got the thing working properly but you would think the manufacturers would have improved the design as this is a common problem.

      @RJHeating  21 день назад +1

      Thank you for watching, appreciate it as always! 10-12 years ago we were going around changing the @vaillant ones for this same problem! And then they updated to copper F&R pipes! Still, was weirdly satisfying squeezing the muck out 😂😂

    With the cost of that repair a filter should of been fitted too 🤔

    • @RJHeating
      @RJHeating  20 дней назад

      Did you price it?
      His diagnosis was correct, just went deeper than he initially expected, which he diagnosed without draining the boiler or accessing any parts.
      It’s an agents job, who didn’t want a filter fitted, we can only offer best advice 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @danielbailey1452
      @danielbailey1452 20 дней назад +1

      @RJHeating you know I didn't price it 🤣🤣🤣 plate and pump isn't cheap though. As you say all you can do is advise them, if they don't want a filter they can pay you again this time next year

    • @she_plumbs
      @she_plumbs 20 дней назад +1

      To be fair I think the other engineer diagnosed well....unfortunately with the issue of blockages like that it can affect multiple parts which is only apparent when you start stripping it down 🤔

    • @RJHeating
      @RJHeating  20 дней назад

      @@she_plumbs 100% his diagnosis was spot on! The system has clearly been left for a while with no care and no protection etc, not to mention those rubber hoses asking to get blocked 😂

      @@danielbailey1452 I’ll be honest, I was probably defensive in haste, you get so many people on here trying to dig you out! I apologise if I came across rude and took your comment wrong!
      This is what clients (not just agents) often don’t get, a little extra money now, can save you a lot of money in the near future! As you say, this’ll be choked up again within 12 months more than likely!
      Appreciate you watching!
