I was in Cabarete this whole week, spent NYE at an all inclusive around you guys. I even recognize some of the people that you filmed at the beach! Love your channel!

It's so nice see you guys in my beautiful country, enjoy yourself there. You should go to las Terrenas in Samaná, it's so beautiful and go to the Salto el limón, it's a big water fall in Samaná. You can stay in cayó levantado hotel, it's a hotel in a island, it's beautiful. Enjoy everything guys 😊😊
I think this will be our new thought for spending holidays in tropics in the coming retirement!!!!!!!!! We had a beautiful Christmas and New Year's Eve in the resort in Playa del Carmen with the Doctor office , we did the test before departure ,and to our amazement we are positive and we are on quarantined.We have pandemic insurance , We are OK , OK!!!! Travel individually will be safer , that what You do is giving us lessons for the future.Happy New 2022 Year !!!!!!!
Here in Toronto, we just got put back into lockdown, everything shutting down. Fortunately for me, I work from home and am looking to visit the Dominican for 1 month in February.

Hubby is one, his mom was from Scotland (winning side no dought), I said "Couldn't you think up a better name for a religion? Was it on sale or something?" I would absolutely participate in windsurfing at Kite Beach…as an active observer with my feet touching warm sand…and a cold beer in hand 😅. It’s nice to hear that talk of everything related to the pandemic is kept to a minimum where you two are staying. I just got my (3rd) booster vaccination today out of precaution due to the prevalent cases for Toronto and the GTA area, thousands of which seem to predominantly be attributed to the Omicron variant. Here’s hoping that the year 2022 brings a fresh start and better times because at this point I don’t need to learn any more of the Greek alphabet 🤞🏼😷. Happy New Year Delightful Travellers 🎆!

I'm guessing you guys are heading to Las Terrenas de Samaná. It's a great place much quieter than Cabarete but the same vibe. Please keep making those great videos they make me feel at home. I'm from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and it has been over 4 years I haven't been able to visit but definitely will be there this summer. Keep up the great work, thanks
Happy New Year! It is fun to see all the kites. Ahh I never get tired of seeing the beach and you both sitting at a restaurant on the beach - now that is relaxation! Looking forward to following more of your adventures and daily life in the DR. (Good choice on not rushing back here, same old restrictions but things are slowly going to get better...) Great that you made the point about service. We all have to practice more patience as this is the case in many places; less staff, less training, some supply issues etc. sad but this is the fall out we are currently facing

Hi Anna and Trevor and Happy New Year. Enjoy watching your videos but must admit makes me miss being there. We haven't been there for 2 years now after spending between 3-12 weeks yearly for over 20 years. We stayed at La Punta, just past Velero. Maybe some day we will be back.
Great video! Love seeing videos from the beach in Cabarete, and I can definitely agree that it's soo enjoyable to be able to literary sit on the beach while eating or drinking! However, 2 corrections. The mask requirement is not ONLY required at Indoor places but actually at any public/private space (used by the public), so even outdoors, just as with so many other things here in DR, it's not being enforced. The only space where it's specifically not required is at the beach. So if you go around town without your mask out in the open, you could, even though VERY unlikely be fined (it happened in the beginning, but now I guess police and such aren't going to bother you about it). And also, from many countries, you actually either have to be fully vaccinated or have a fresh PCR/Antigen Negative COVID test to be able to enter the country (for example I did need that). So to be sure you should check before going. And also at the end of this month, the authorities will require you to show proof of a booster shot as well. Don't know how they'll gonna implement it to those who are already here by that time, but time will tell. And personally, I would not travel right now, with Omicron going rampant. This past week I saw a news article that at least 5 people have been infected with omicron variant, and today I read another article that the past 24 hours +2000 new cases have been reported. So IMO, this is probably going to hit the DR harder than at the beginning of the pandemic, because the majority of people are tired of any kind of restriction, and as it has been reported the Sinovac vaccine, which was first introduced in DR and the vast majority of Dominicans have been vaccinated with (including me), isn't that effective against omicron. So even though I don't want to be an alarmist, I would not come here, as it wouldn't surprise me if in a couple of weeks we're going to see cases skyrocket (I sincerely hope that I'm dead wrong on this). So stay safe out there and enjoy the AWESOME weather we have right now!!! 😷
Just an FYI because mind over matter/omicron is less severe as it doesn't attack the lungs and that shows that we are winning the fight! I presume covid could have gotten stronger, yikes, perish the thought! In Montreal it's back to curfew and lock down, all is closed today we'll be looking forward to freedom Monday! Stay safe, when my kids were little no daycare nor going to school when sick, oh ya they gave me a hard time, rat's ass! 😘
I don't really think the DR will be any less safe than what we have in Halifax atm. I would take my chances in the DR. I am watching selloffvacations every day!

But of course if you don't care and can take not knowing when you are getting back home, then of course you're better off in the sun 🌞😎
@@Kricke87 everybody has their own risk tolerance. From what I see, Halifax COVID levels are no better than those in the DR so I personally would be comfortable with that.

Hi...discovered you guys as I was investigating a new place to go in the DR that was smaller (so we could walk most places) than where we've previously gone in the DR...going to Cabarete in February for 6 weeks, so your videos are very informative...I hope you can answer a few questions for me....is there ample supply of shampoos, suntan lotions? I ask because these things are heavy and I would prefer not to bring my own. Also, we've been told there are no beach chairs at the condo, only at the pool...since we're there for 6 weeks, will we be able to purchase or hustle beach chairs? Thanks so much for your help....looking forward to where you'll be going next!
So no vaccine card you can’t go to the grocery store or order food from restaurants? Is this policy strictly enforced? Thank you. Enjoy! My wife is Dominican and we love it there.
I watched a few other videos on RUclips from locals to get some answers for myself and they said it’s not enforced in restaurants or grocery stores. They said only shopping malls or that they might take your temperature. I would look at some more research though, don’t take my word for it. I’m planning a second trip there right now, and it doesn’t seem to be the case. I was just there last August and you didn’t have to be vaccinated to go into restaurants or excursions.
We walk everywhere and stick to Cabarete mostly. We taxi to Sousa if we need to and only rent cars for getaways when we need them. How long you staying in Cabarete for? 😀 - Trevor

January is a busy time in the region due to the kite surfers who migrate every year! It's always like that this time of year.

I don't really think the DR will be any less safe than what we have in Halifax atm. I would take my chances in the DR. I am watching selloffvacations every day!
@@davidbaillieul109 true, but it's one thing getting sick when you're at home, you don't have to worry if you're going to be able to get home when you should, you know the healthcare system and so on. But of course if you don't care and can take not knowing when you are getting back home, then of course you're better off in the sun 🌞😎
@@Kricke87 everybody has their own risk tolerance. From what I see, Halifax COVID levels are no better than those in the DR so I personally would be comfortable with that.

Hi...discovered you guys as I was investigating a new place to go in the DR that was smaller (so we could walk most places) than where we've previously gone in the DR...going to Cabarete in February for 6 weeks, so your videos are very informative...I hope you can answer a few questions for me....is there ample supply of shampoos, suntan lotions? I ask because these things are heavy and I would prefer not to bring my own. Also, we've been told there are no beach chairs at the condo, only at the pool...since we're there for 6 weeks, will we be able to purchase or hustle beach chairs? Thanks so much for your help....looking forward to where you'll be going next!
Yes you can buy everything here and there's always available beach chairs on the playa for about 150pesos pp 🤗 - Anna

So no vaccine card you can’t go to the grocery store or order food from restaurants? Is this policy strictly enforced? Thank you. Enjoy! My wife is Dominican and we love it there.
I watched a few other videos on RUclips from locals to get some answers for myself and they said it’s not enforced in restaurants or grocery stores. They said only shopping malls or that they might take your temperature. I would look at some more research though, don’t take my word for it. I’m planning a second trip there right now, and it doesn’t seem to be the case. I was just there last August and you didn’t have to be vaccinated to go into restaurants or excursions.

We walk everywhere and stick to Cabarete mostly. We taxi to Sousa if we need to and only rent cars for getaways when we need them. How long you staying in Cabarete for? 😀 - Trevor
