As a city dweller who has never spent significant time on a farm, I find these videos fun and informative. Thanks for sharing a bit of your farm life with us. Best.
Cole is a man with a plan. Well, I guess that you will be cutting trees and bulldozing this winter if you are going to join those fields. Boy that is a huge task and I would love to see you do it. Glad that you had a guest helper in the video today. I sure would love to spend some time with Daddy Cornstar; he is a good man. He is more my age but I bet the whole family would be fun to spend time with. I am impressed with the changes that you have done so far. Hauling the scrap iron out, cleaning around the building, widening the driveway and cleaning / organizing the shop. It sure will be something to see if your vision comes true.
Please keep making more videos! So many people have no idea what it is like on a farm, or even where and how their food is grown. Your knowledge of how your practices affect the nutrition of the soil and what you do to correct and maintain the land is awesome. It is so refreshing to see honest, hard-working people who make this country great. Keep up the great work!
Cole you and your family have the best farming channel on you tube. You do an incredible job with the entire production. I have learned so much about our Great American Farmers from y'all. Looking forward to hearing more from Cooper and your sister. Your mom too. The Cornstar family is in our families prayers.
I learned more from this guy in the short time than I learned for over 70 years. Very good telling how the whole thing works. From the corn picker inner workings to the break down of the corn stocks in the field. Made all very interesting.
Lol, JWB Farms, can't get enough of it, eh? 😁 Glad you are done with your harvest, and I hope your yields looked good. Stay safe, and have a great Christmas. 🎄🎁
I have no idea about farming, but i enjoy your videos a lot, you explain things well, so even to a lay person like me understands what's happening. Thanks for all the hard work you all do in your videos. :)
You're such a natural teacher, Cole! Your explanations are easy to understand, yet so engaging! My daughters & I love this channel & your family! Y'all are such a blessing! Sending prayers for the remaining harvest go safely, efficiently & quickly! God be with ya'll!!🙏💜🙏🌽
It is wonderful to see the passion you have for your profession and how you combine technique with technology and built on the history of your previous farm itself.
So in an attempt to influence my son and his family I showed them some videos. My granddaughter who is 14 acted disinterested until Cole came on talking about Life, Jesus and Death. She listened to it all and said he had beautiful eyes that were so clear and sincere. Another Cornstar fan is born!!!
Summer, I really liked hearing Cole explaining why they didn't till those fields. Good editing, my dear! And I hit the thumbs up as soon as I click on the video! You all are awesome. :)
My husband grew up on a farm in Illinois. I call him my "Illinois Farm Boy." Anyway, they grew corn and soybeans. I am enjoying learning about farming by watching your videos as his Dad is retired now. Keep up the great job!
I have lived my whole life in rural south central michigan surrounded by corn...grow up with corn bordering the back yard and across the road..basically all over. I learn so many things from you that I never knew. I appreciate the educational value of your videos! And they're fun to watch as well!
Listening to you talk about the patterns you notice and the differences you can make is awe-inspiring. I finally know what my professors and bosses were trying to impress upon me when they were wanted to know what problems I could solve for them.
Wow Cole, your a strong young man moving that electric motor. I used to be the same way years ago. After two back surgeries I had to change strategies. You have skid loaders, backhoes etc... Let them do the heavy lifting and save your back!
I am a city gal for sure, from the mountains and desert but am fascinated by your channel and farm. My mom's family were farmers ages ago. Love how you just get things done!
I like watching your videos even though I know nothing about farming. Plus, you’re a lot more interesting than anything else that’s happening in this country.
Wow! That's was an education. I've always had an admiration for farmers but it's great to be able to see the chores involved and the thought behind each process. I love the house project too. I enjoy seeing your passion for what you do.
Cole I just love your videos especially your handsome smile and your voice especially when you say your name in the intro !! I love you and your dads sense of humor you guys make farming look like fun where do y’all get the energy !! Keep em coming !! 👍
My grandson Jeffery who is 6 going on 21 loves Cole and his family. He is a born mechanic like his dad, always has his tool belt on ready to take things apart. He says he loves taking stuff apart but can't put it put it back together. He loves watching Cole repairing stuff and all the different tools.
Recently interested in farming, can tell right away it's hard honest work. Glad to see that everyone still keeps a great attitude. It only makes it that much more appealing.
The reason I always hit the like button first is there’s not a love button, I love the cornstar family and I love Cole & Summer for bringing us along thru the great video’s
I’ve been telling my family and friends about your channel. The only one who took interest is my niece who is in the FFA at her high school (4th place in show at the fair showing her pig Penny). She seems to understand about being a country girl at heart.
Such a different theme! Really enjoy your sharing of your life as a farmer. The house was the start but now I’m into the farming part too. You are too cute!!!!!!
Thank you for the video ride along. I use to rent a small house on a active farm. So I got to watch the super long hours the farmer put in during harvest. He litterally was harvesting by himself & would work until he couldn't stay awake, shut down the machine and take a nap in it until the cold woke him, than continue on. It actually scared me for his safety. I'm so glad your family works the farm together. Why I bring up, you talking about flattening out your low spots. Choose wisely. The farm house I rented was surrounded by a creek & every year there was some flooding, the creek filled up and spilled over into the farm fields. One year it was so bad, I couldn't leave the property, bridges were not passable. The basement always had a little water running across the floor in flooding rains, but the bad year, my s10 pick up had water up to the I bar and it was only 10 feet from the house. The standing flood water was within 4' of the corner of the house. The well had to be shocked that year. So think long and hard about where the flooding rains will go when the Earth is saturated. You'll likely loose that much more yield , if it doesn't have any place to pool.
Very glad you're having good luck with that no-till corn field. Even happier to hear that you are looking at ways to be more efficient and embracing no-till as it has great environmental benefits too. It's great that there are still young people like yourself with a passion for farming and the mindset and ability to adapt new technologies and ideas to keep us all fed and fueled.
You and cooper need to learn the grain setup job from your dad, a year or two is fine while you learn all the ins and outs, but you should take pride in giving your dad the easiest job possible. His body will last longer, and I’m sure you want him helping as long as possible. Great job on the vids
I agree with you.....Sure Dad has taught them all they knew, Cornstar can do many things....I was impressed when he was cutting limbs from the tree.....he did a good job....but Dad was near by to make sure he stayed safe and gave him orders if he thought he needed it....his Dad is Funny :) So glad I found these videos? Just what I don't need another video to get hooked on....but this might be my fav....I do like the cooking videos tho....I usually don't watch the dumb videos....I like to see everyday things going on.....:)
Enjoyed the video Cole. Wow you really have learned a ton of information. That was interesting. I know you all will be glad when the harvest is in. Thanks for taking the time to produce the videos. Y'all take care and God bless.
U may be the single best advertising on RUclips for Calmer Choppers. I hope they know that. Maybe this is the reason why so many farms ( of all sizes) r doing no till. It saves money and seems it would be better for the environment. Less diesel fuel and less emissions. But I’m just now learning this stuff. At any rate nice money save. Oh yea, u just said the combine was the fun piece of equipment to run. I thought u liked the sprayer. Or was that sarcasm? Hello to all the CS family.
Alan Inu No Tomodachi it’s not necessarily being smart, although better/faster solutions will come out of it. It’s more about time, experience and learning as you go. Im grateful my father taught me how to work on everything.
The best gardens we've ever had were covered by and planted within a 'compost' layer of waiste plant materials ! Tilling and/or plowing was usually optional. Our uncle tried all manner of really old methods on his farms; blended with intelligence guided by experience. I hope he passed his findings down ! GO FOR IT ! Happy New Year
When you say you would like to turn the three fields into one large field by removing the trees surrounding the fields, what will you use for a wind block? (@ 11 minutes in the video) I'm from Canada and our conditions vary from year to year but wind seems to always do damage if we do not have proper barriers in place.
A friend of mine has a farm in Penn., and they've done no till for quite some time. Tilling releases nitrogen from the soil, no till holds it in, and reduces the amount of applied nitrogen. Great to see y'all working with the microbes from decomp!
What a great season to have shared with the public. You did a very awesome job sharing the life of a farm family, showing the good the bad and yes sometimes the ugly part the business. I wish all of your family a Blessed Holy Christmas season as you reflect back on this past year. Maybe some bling for your girlfriend?... Cheers Cole and the cobs..
Super interesting discussion about the no-till planting and the equipment choices. As someone who has done early 1800's farming, I found the description illuminating. I would also like to point out that your approach of putting off tilling, is environmentally advantageous.
Very impressed with your knowledge and experience. I'm so proud of what you are doing! A million years ago, I learned an interesting statistic. The entire state of Iowa, if allowed to grow at maximum yield, could feed the entire planet! Of course, that was back when the Earth's population was only around 4 Billion. With Farmers like you, I can see that stat go up, for sure! I used to work for Oregon OSHA, so I am a bit nervous watching the required equipment maintenance with the guards off. Glad to see you using PPE and taking things seriously and cautiously. Godspeed Cole!
I was born in the great state of Iowa and haven't been back since. Learning A LOT about corn, the farm and how much fun you're making it all look. Subscribed.
I’m just amazed at how a 20-something owns his own home/farm! I’m literally twice your age and own nothing other than a car. When my parents pass I’ll inherit a family house and land but that’s kinda cheating. You’re amazing!
Cole, Nice video! The end is near and the Combine can hibernate for the rest of winter and the focus will move towards preparing for spring tillage and planting. God Bless
Ok, since your always thinking of ways to improve your farm when bopping around on the combine, how about looking into high priced specialty and exotic corns that sell for a huge premium. Popcorns, nutrient dense corns, heritage corns, native american cherokee varieties, colored corns, flavored corns, etc...you can run a test bed of say l0 acres w 4 varities per acre to see how they yield or what they need in your soils, climate, etc...
LOL....We had great corn when I was growing up....I can give him at least the name of 3 that you sure can't find where I live now....maybe one, but the other two....nope.....Are they from IOWA? Thought I heard him say something about Iowa in last video I watched....I have a friend who lives in IOWA and she says they have the best Pork ever....sure wish I could order some from there....wish my stores around my area would buy from there....sure can't find decent Pork where I live.....in my area for sure.....
I know you said 'pretty simple machine' but in all honesty the combine harvester is one of the most amazing pieces of machinery ever invented. It uses all 6 of the simple machines and enginers in different forms to do something that would have taken the labor of dozens of people months to do in a few days.
I would like to see a typical 20-something kid in the city or burbs get in and clean an auger, climb under a piece of equipment with a grease gun, and even know how to change a fuel filter! In just 3 years on a small horse farm, I went from suburbia living to having to learn how to maintain a tractor, zero-turn mower, ATV, UTV and implements. Lots of oil and hydraulic fluid/filter changes, hand sharpening blades on mowers, lots of grease certs (lots and lots!). I see the appeal to having your own kids to handle the hard and dirty work : ). I subscribed to your channel - very entertaining and informative. Keep up the good work and thank you.
We don't grain farm but the field across from our house had corn in it and you can tell a huge difference in your field and his just looking at it on your videos, those calmer choppers are the real deal. I'm sold and I don't even have a combine.
You need trees, plant them where they won't be in the way. It helps to hold the wind back. Help the oxygen, so replace the trees you take out young man.
I'm glad for your family that harvest is about done. Things are much more dire for the farmers here in central ND. As it stands currently most of the corn crop and some of the beans (if still standing) won't get harvested until spring of 2020.
As a city dweller who has never spent significant time on a farm, I find these videos fun and informative. Thanks for sharing a bit of your farm life with us. Best.

Proud of you and your work ethics.
People like you are the backbone of your country. Not the politicians, Not the celebrities.
You, the feeders

Larry Croft thank u so much!
So sweet....and I agree with you they seem to be wonderful people.....God Bless them all.....
I was amazed by the facts and explanation of your planting, yields and everything else. I enjoyed that. Very informative.
I've lived in Iowa my whole life. Went to school with a bunch of farm kids, and I never knew any of this stuff. Cole's videos are fun & educational.
You are SO welcome for the turkey sandwiches, potato salad and apples! I knew u meant to say " thanks mom" 💙
This is only my 3rd vid that I saw and I love yer fam! Mama you done good!
thanks mon thought and implied, but hardly ever spoken.
Shame on you cornstar you made mamacornstar upset
lmao
You tell em Moma CS!!!

We just finished up Corn Harvest yesterday the 8th. Also in Central Iowa! Now here I sit watching videos of harvest. Love all the videos!
Lol, JWB Farms, can't get enough of it, eh? 😁 Glad you are done with your harvest, and I hope your yields looked good. Stay safe, and have a great Christmas. 🎄🎁

Summer, I really liked hearing Cole explaining why they didn't till those fields. Good editing, my dear! And I hit the thumbs up as soon as I click on the video! You all are awesome. :)
Most folk I don't think understand how hard you farmers work. Thank you for being a farmer
My husband grew up on a farm in Illinois. I call him my "Illinois Farm Boy." Anyway, they grew corn and soybeans. I am enjoying learning about farming by watching your videos as his Dad is retired now. Keep up the great job!

The sky looks so pretty (around 13 min). Beautiful country.

Wow Cole, your a strong young man moving that electric motor. I used to be the same way years ago. After two back surgeries I had to change strategies. You have skid loaders, backhoes etc... Let them do the heavy lifting and save your back!
Thank you to you and your family and all farmers all over the world, thank to you good people we have food on the table.
Dang, Cole, you are a very smart 22 year old farmer! Kudos to you! Amazing how you figure out all of that! I'm so glad I found your channel! 😊
I am a city gal for sure, from the mountains and desert but am fascinated by your channel and farm. My mom's family were farmers ages ago. Love how you just get things done!
We love the sounds of tractors starting up on a cold morning on an Iowa farm.
Dr. Cornstar - I think it always takes a person to look at the land with new and fresh eyes. AWESOME♥️
I know nothing about farming but I enjoy these videos.
These are fascinating videos. I love learning about corn farming. I see you are not only a Farmer, but a Mechanic & a jack of all trade.
I like watching your videos even though I know nothing about farming. Plus, you’re a lot more interesting than anything else that’s happening in this country.

Love when a new video is put up! You’ve gotta make Daddy and Mama Constar proud!!
It’s great to see young farmers like you! Thank you for both farming & filming!
I always like the videos before I see them because I KNOW I will like it
Cole I just love your videos especially your handsome smile and your voice especially when you say your name in the intro !! I love you and your dads sense of humor you guys make farming look like fun where do y’all get the energy !! Keep em coming !! 👍
My 4 year old son says "Dad it Cole the Corn Dog!" LOL He loves your videos!

I think he is a Corn Dog too. Most of the time he is just a Hot Dog.
My 8yr old loves the videos too!! It's a good thing for them to watch!!! God bless the cornstars!! Lol
Love that child!
Recently interested in farming, can tell right away it's hard honest work. Glad to see that everyone still keeps a great attitude. It only makes it that much more appealing.

THANK YOU SUMMER !!!

Cole, great job. Thanks for the video demonstration of factors affecting corn stalk decomp.
I’m glad you explained why you chose to reduce the residue so small. :)
I LOVE THOSE WINDMILLS! I THINK THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL! glad you have them. I hope they start to be everywhere.
I didn’t realize farming involved so much wacking off.
well when you have a semi !!!!
I was thinking the same thing, hmm
If you’re not wacking off you’re not farming 😂
The life of a cornstar.
Must be an Iowa thing
You sir, are one INTELLIGENT professional farmer. God bless ALL of our farmers w/o you we don't eat!
I’ve been telling my family and friends about your channel. The only one who took interest is my niece who is in the FFA at her high school (4th place in show at the fair showing her pig Penny). She seems to understand about being a country girl at heart.
I'm a heavy equipment operator glad I found your page big dog, love learning about farming
It's always good to save money on the farm especially in these times. Thanks for the video have a great evening
Such a different theme! Really enjoy your sharing of your life as a farmer. The house was the start but now I’m into the farming part too. You are too cute!!!!!!
Your house is looking good from the outside.
Thank you for the video ride along.
I use to rent a small house on a active farm. So I got to watch the super long hours the farmer put in during harvest. Why I bring up, you talking about flattening out your low spots. Choose wisely. The farm house I rented was surrounded by a creek & every year there was some flooding, the creek filled up and spilled over into the farm fields. One year it was so bad, I couldn't leave the property, bridges were not passable. Enjoyed the video Cole. Wow you really have learned a ton of information. That was interesting. I know you all will be glad when the harvest is in. Thanks for taking the time to produce the videos. Y'all take care and God bless.
about 3 to 4 years should do tillage but you should rip the head lands for compaction everyear
If everyone worked as hard as you this country would be great again
What a sunset! Iowa is its own brand beautiful.

The more I watch your videos, the more I learn that farming is various dangerous. So many moving parts on those machines. I hope you all stay safe.
How'd this show up in my list? Well Ima watching it =P
Love learning all the science and tech that goes into the food we eat! Keep up the great work!

Very little corn grown in America is used for food. Most of it is used to feed cars and cows. The other leading use of corn is whiskey and Coke.
Always LIKE the video before I watch, and you have never let me down! Another good one. Thank you!
I’m loving no til farming, A nice manure spreader if you have a good source of manure would be a great addition with all that corn residue!

Douglas McKinnon it’s honestly very stressful, I can imagine construction not being very much fun.
Cole starts getting "Whacked off" @3:20
No, he is getting wacky from lack of sleep.
I was a bit concerned when he said he was going to the field to stretch his legs while whacking....
We don't grain farm but the field across from our house had corn in it and you can tell a huge difference in your field and his just looking at it on your videos, those calmer choppers are the real deal. I'm sold and I don't even have a combine.
should set a camara up in the machine shed and do a time lapse of it filling with corn
Wow...cleaning and organizing the shed And now the fields. That is going to save you time and money
You need trees, plant them where they won't be in the way. It helps to hold the wind back. Help the oxygen, so replace the trees you take out young man.
Shut up lol
I have learned so much about farming that I didn’t know at all. Cole explains so clearly. Thanks. 💕
I just hit L3 on the controller to repair my combine :)
Great tutorial Cole, keep up the great work,God bless your family and Merry Christmas to all the Corn Stars!
my friend came over to see me, i heard my old lady say "he's in there watchin' Cole the Corn star. that's what i heard her say
And does she say, the old man
I'm glad for your family that harvest is about done. Things are much more dire for the farmers here in central ND. As it stands currently most of the corn crop and some of the beans (if still standing) won't get harvested until spring of 2020.
Cole, nearly everyone on your channel except you and Daddy_cornstar have fantastic mullets! When will you be joining the party?!
Dont doooooo it!! LOL

Trevor Milliken DC had one back in the day ( not anywhere the length of Cooper's and he would never have let me perm his hair 😂) !
@@mommacs6159 post pics of Daddy Cornstar with a mullet. We need a laugh.
I had a mullet. Hair in back reached my knees when I took the braids out. This was the early 90s mind you.
Your videos are fascinating to someone who grew up in a city.
