I personally love this song!! It’s just silly and cute and the fact that all of them rap is so impressive. It’s a song basically making fun of men who want the “perfect” wife.
I love this song as a fan but I think it’s not the best introduction to them 😂 “Tomboy” is their most popular song, and “Queencard” was pretty big too. One of the girls in the group writes most of their songs which is pretty unique for k-pop. The other members are called Soyeon, Minnie and Shuhua. It's actually not that hard to learn their names when they are not dressed like this and don't wear those wigs. So, to provide some context about the members: Nicha "Minnie" Yontararak is from Thailand. She is the neice of one of Asia's most famous pianists, who also happens to be the great granddaughter of the last King of the former Kingdom of Lanna, which is now (mostly) northern Thailand. Minnie is from an incredibly rich family but gave up the lap of luxury to become a K-pop idol. She came into Korea with compatriot Lalisa Manoban of BLΛƆKPIИK and other Thai idols. She was brought into (G)i-DLE at the insistence of Soyeon. Who had Minnie perform a song with her when Soyeon was performing as a CUBE trainee in survival shows back in 2016. She writes, composes and produces songs for the group. Cho Miyeon was a YG trainee slated for PINK-PUNK, the pregenator version of BLΛƆKPIИK. She didn't want to keep waiting for her debut, so she instead went into vocal training. Eventually, she was scooped up by CUBE, and Soyeon basically kidnapped her and was desperate to get her in their group. She's now considered the Queen of K-Drama OSTs in Korea. She goes viral very regularly in Korea for her "Princess Beauty". Seo Soojin was first in the group VIVA DIVA and almost made it there as a 3rd generation group member. But she left the group and ended up in Soyeon's targeting system. Everyone knew she was the best dancer at CUBE and Soyeon loved her confidence. Soojin originally debuted as the character 'fox lady' in the background of Soyeon's solo debut in 2017. She was by far the most popular member of the group in Korea. In 2021, she was accused of bullying someone in middle school when she was 13. But the allegations have never made sense. It's widely believed that a journalist working for Starship Entertainment was paid off to write literally dozens of articles to make it look like the evidence was tantamount to CCTV footage and even went so far as to claim that Soojin admitted to every accusation. Something she never did. Personally, I've been into K-pop since 1999, and it had all the markings of an intentional sabotage job from a competing company. Soojin left the group of her own volition to protect the careers of the other members. The amount of hatred up against her from the public was so much that her merchandise was piling up in Seoul garbage tips. In October 2023, she returned as a solo artist and had a widely positive reception. Selling over 100,000 copies of her album 'Agassi' in Korea alone. Rumours of her return are rampant, especially after posting a picture with one of Shuhua's dogs, not even two weeks ago. Yeh Shuhua, from Taiwan. The youngest member. Ended up with a fairy tale story of telling her parents the night before she flew out to Korea that she was leaving the country to pursue a career as an idol. They were strongly against her going, but she insisted on it. She didn't speak Korean, but CUBE took her on as a trainee. Shuhua had a very hard time of it because of the language barrier, and no one would speak to her. Seo Soojin saw her struggling badly and befriended her. Even though they had no way of understanding each other, Soojin listened to her and comforted her. Shuhua repeatedly credited Soojin as the reason she lasted long enough and learned enough Korean to make it into the group at all. She went from crying at her mistakes and being bullied online for her pronounciation of Korean words to being easily the most confident member of the group now. Song Yuqi, the Chinese member who is absurdly smart. She graduated something like the top 1% at Beijing University. Which only admits something like the top 6% of entrance exam passers. You can see this in her music as another member of the group who writes, produces, and composes other songs. She's also quite openly got 'something' going on with Soyeon. And they really aren't very shy about it. Captain Jeon Soyeon. Largely considered the best female rapper in Korea, as well as Korea's best female song creator as the group's primary writer, producer, composer, and arranger. She creates the concepts for every album, from aesthetics to message. She is called "the demon that survival shows created" by Koreans. She went through Produce 101, Unpretty Rapstar, and Queendom. She then became a mentor and judge much later for the survival shows My Teenage Girl and Fantasy Boys. Despite being viciously bullied in her years as a trainee for her facial features, she is now one of Korea's most recognisable and marketable faces. She is considered the first K-Pop idol to ever 'come out' after admitting (in a very round-about way) in 2021 to having fallen in love with Yuqi back in 2018.

@brolydrark In (G)i-DLE's second album, there's a song called 'Give Me Your', which is their most romantic track ever. Soyeon admitted in 2018 that she wrote it for Yuqi. Then, in 2021, she was asked by an interviewer on TV why she wrote 'Give Me Your' and admitted it was because she had fallen in love with 'someone' at the time. Probably forgetting that she already mentioned Yuqi beforehand.

Yuqi is the one you like. She has a very distinct voice and she said when she was younger she got bullied cause her voice was so deep. But look at where she is now! And BTW, you probably picked two of the most different groups to react to when choosing to get into Kpop 😆 NewJeans and (G)I-DLE do things very differently. Actually, a lot of the 4th gen girl groups do things differently than the previous generations. Boy groups tend to be a bit more traditional aside from groups like Stray Kids. But as far as girl groups go, they tend to be more experimental. With the 4th gen anyway.
Ofc there is a difference between NewJeans and (G)Idle, it's the age difference, NJ are teenagers, so their music is more PG and modern, while Idle are in their 30s, they try so many new mature even controversial concepts

Fun fact this song got banned from Korean Broadcasts because the lyrics are too spicy (lots of Korean slang/innuendo) 🤣 This song is pretty incredible as it’s a satirical take against being a trad wife/the patriarchy. G idle doesn’t GAF about what people say and they really push boundaries musically and with their lyrics. @@chipsehamv4645 Yes new jeans have a mostly early 2000s UK Soulful House and Garage sound... its a sound that has never been done in kpop before and was very mainstream here in the uk early 2000s.. its essentially slower r'n'b, soulful or even rap vocals paired with much faster electro synths and drums that are sometimes off beat (it also incorporates mainy other dance styles in the music including drum and bass, r'n'b, hip hop and mainstream pop/dance) If youve ever heard any craig david, daniel beddingfield, shanks and bigfoot, doolally, artful dodger, misteeq or miss dynamite for exaplme.. thats the sound new jeans are making. Yes Its totally different to 2nd gen but has more akin with 2nd gen because of the softer, lighter more musical inspired style compared to the loud obnoxious angry style of most of 3rd and 4th gen
I'd say Kpop falls into 2 categories - cutesy music that I like (Twice, NewJeans, etc), and hyper-aggressive EDM/rap/bitchy music complete with stripper dancing (like BlackPink) that I just can't stand.
@@gigglehertz i'd agree with that but the problem is the hyper aggressive stuff seems to outweigh the nicer stuff since last gen.. its why i stopped listening cos most of the stuff started to sound like blackpink.. contrast it with 2nd gen.. my faves t-ara and possibly biggest 2nd gen snsd.. their music was amazing.. even the edm stuff because it was more nice vocal singing based (and even the rapping was good and non aggresive it was cool then) rather than the angry shit of blackpink style stuff
This sounds nothing like anything from this gen or last gen and I would not say it is “loud” lol. I can see how people could find it annoying but it’s meant to be a silly song so I think it fits lol. Newjeans definitely has a fresh sound for k-pop and are one of my favorites, but a lot of groups recently have a softer or different vibe and sound too. Not all are loud and annoying though I know the kind of sound you mean and tend not to listen to too much of that type either.

I personally love this song!! It’s just silly and cute and the fact that all of them rap is so impressive. It’s a song basically making fun of men who want the “perfect” wife.
I love this song as a fan but I think it’s not the best introduction to them 😂 “Tomboy” is their most popular song, and “Queencard” was pretty big too. One of the girls in the group writes most of their songs which is pretty unique for k-pop. Also one of my favorites is “My Bag” lol, it doesn’t have a music video only a dance practice but it’s so iconic.

My bias is Yuqi, she's the one with the deep voice. The princess girl you asked about is Miyeon which is funny since princess is really a "nickname" of hers. The other members are called Soyeon, Minnie and Shuhua. It's actually not that hard to learn their names when they are not dressed like this and don't wear those wigs. So, to provide some context about the members:
Nicha "Minnie" Yontararak is from Thailand. She is the neice of one of Asia's most famous pianists, who also happens to be the great granddaughter of the last King of the former Kingdom of Lanna, which is now (mostly) northern Thailand. Minnie is from an incredibly rich family but gave up the lap of luxury to become a K-pop idol. She came into Korea with compatriot Lalisa Manoban of BLΛƆKPIИK and other Thai idols. She was brought into (G)i-DLE at the insistence of Soyeon. Who had Minnie perform a song with her when Soyeon was performing as a CUBE trainee in survival shows back in 2016. She writes, composes and produces songs for the group.
Cho Miyeon was a YG trainee slated for PINK-PUNK, the pregenator version of BLΛƆKPIИK. She didn't want to keep waiting for her debut, so she instead went into vocal training. Eventually, she was scooped up by CUBE, and Soyeon basically kidnapped her and was desperate to get her in their group. She's now considered the Queen of K-Drama OSTs in Korea. She goes viral very regularly in Korea for her "Princess Beauty".
Seo Soojin was first in the group VIVA DIVA and almost made it there as a 3rd generation group member. But she left the group and ended up in Soyeon's targeting system. Everyone knew she was the best dancer at CUBE and Soyeon loved her confidence. Soojin originally debuted as the character 'fox lady' in the background of Soyeon's solo debut in 2017. She was by far the most popular member of the group in Korea. In 2021, she was accused of bullying someone in middle school when she was 13. But the allegations have never made sense. It's widely believed that a journalist working for Starship Entertainment was paid off to write literally dozens of articles to make it look like the evidence was tantamount to CCTV footage and even went so far as to claim that Soojin admitted to every accusation. Something she never did. Personally, I've been into K-pop since 1999, and it had all the markings of an intentional sabotage job from a competing company. Soojin left the group of her own volition to protect the careers of the other members. The amount of hatred up against her from the public was so much that her merchandise was piling up in Seoul garbage tips. In October 2023, she returned as a solo artist and had a widely positive reception. Selling over 100,000 copies of her album 'Agassi' in Korea alone. Rumours of her return are rampant, especially after posting a picture with one of Shuhua's dogs, not even two weeks ago.
Yeh Shuhua, from Taiwan. The youngest member. Ended up with a fairy tale story of telling her parents the night before she flew out to Korea that she was leaving the country to pursue a career as an idol. They were strongly against her going, but she insisted on it. She didn't speak Korean, but CUBE took her on as a trainee. Shuhua had a very hard time of it because of the language barrier, and no one would speak to her. Seo Soojin saw her struggling badly and befriended her. Even though they had no way of understanding each other, Soojin listened to her and comforted her. Shuhua repeatedly credited Soojin as the reason she lasted long enough and learned enough Korean to make it into the group at all. She went from crying at her mistakes and being bullied online for her pronounciation of Korean words to being easily the most confident member of the group now.
Song Yuqi, the Chinese member who is absurdly smart. She graduated something like the top 1% at Beijing University. Which only admits something like the top 6% of entrance exam passers. You can see this in her music as another member of the group who writes, produces, and composes other songs. She's also quite openly got 'something' going on with Soyeon. And they really aren't very shy about it.
Captain Jeon Soyeon. Largely considered the best female rapper in Korea, as well as Korea's best female song creator as the group's primary writer, producer, composer, and arranger. She creates the concepts for every album, from aesthetics to message. She is called "the demon that survival shows created" by Koreans. She went through Produce 101, Unpretty Rapstar, and Queendom. She then became a mentor and judge much later for the survival shows My Teenage Girl and Fantasy Boys. Despite being viciously bullied in her years as a trainee for her facial features, she is now one of Korea's most recognisable and marketable faces. She is considered the first K-Pop idol to ever 'come out' after admitting (in a very round-about way) in 2021 to having fallen in love with Yuqi back in 2018.

@brolydrark In (G)i-DLE's second album, there's a song called 'Give Me Your', which is their most romantic track ever. Soyeon admitted in 2018 that she wrote it for Yuqi. Then, in 2021, she was asked by an interviewer on TV why she wrote 'Give Me Your' and admitted it was because she had fallen in love with 'someone' at the time. Probably forgetting that she already mentioned Yuqi beforehand.

Yuqi is the one you like. She has a very distinct voice and she said when she was younger she got bullied cause her voice was so deep. But look at where she is now!
And BTW, you probably picked two of the most different groups to react to when choosing to get into Kpop 😆 NewJeans and (G)I-DLE do things very differently. Actually, a lot of the 4th gen girl groups do things differently than the previous generations. Boy groups tend to be a bit more traditional aside from groups like Stray Kids. But as far as girl groups go, they tend to be more experimental. With the 4th gen anyway.

Fun fact this song got banned from Korean Broadcasts because the lyrics are too spicy (lots of Korean slang/innuendo) 🤣 This song is pretty incredible as it’s a satirical take against being a trad wife/the patriarchy. @@chipsehamv4645 Yes new jeans have a mostly early 2000s UK Soulful House and Garage sound... its a sound that has never been done in kpop before and was very mainstream here in the uk early 2000s.. its essentially slower r'n'b, soulful or even rap vocals paired with much faster electro synths and drums that are sometimes off beat (it also incorporates mainy other dance styles in the music including drum and bass, r'n'b, hip hop and mainstream pop/dance) If youve ever heard any craig david, daniel beddingfield, shanks and bigfoot, doolally, artful dodger, misteeq or miss dynamite for exaplme.. thats the sound new jeans are making. Yes Its totally different to 2nd gen but has more akin with 2nd gen because of the softer, lighter more musical inspired style compared to the loud obnoxious angry style of most of 3rd and 4th gen
I'd say Kpop falls into 2 categories - cutesy music that I like (Twice, NewJeans, etc), and hyper-aggressive EDM/rap/bitchy music complete with stripper dancing (like BlackPink) that I just can't stand.
@@gigglehertz i'd agree with that but the problem is the hyper aggressive stuff seems to outweigh the nicer stuff since last gen.. its why i stopped listening cos most of the stuff started to sound like blackpink.. contrast it with 2nd gen.. my faves t-ara and possibly biggest 2nd gen snsd.. their music was amazing.. even the edm stuff because it was more nice vocal singing based (and even the rapping was good and non aggresive it was cool then) rather than the angry shit of blackpink style stuff
This sounds nothing like anything from this gen or last gen and I would not say it is “loud” lol. I can see how people could find it annoying but it’s meant to be a silly song so I think it fits lol.
Newjeans definitely has a fresh sound for k-pop and are one of my favorites, but a lot of groups recently have a softer or different vibe and sound too. Not all are loud and annoying though I know the kind of sound you mean and tend not to listen to too much of that type either.
