Opening Scene | The Deep (1977) | Now Scaring
I saw this movie with my family as a child and now all these decades later I know why my mom didn't speak to my dad the entire drive home.
why ? what was the reason your mom did not speak to your dad ?
@@PeepingTom-xy9di She was daydreaming about Nick Nolte

Hey, it wasn’t his fault. He didn’t direct the movie…
Absolutely a great adventure movie. Fabulous music and great cast.
Music by the great John Barry of early James Bond fame. Very underrated movie. Robert Shaw did his usual fine performance and Louis Gossett, Jr. as the antagonist was also great. Probably the weakest performance was Nolte’s character.
I was an avid SCUBA diver when this came out. My dive shop had a couple of the ampules from the movie scene! I'm 75 now and I miss diving the Florida Keys.
I was a college male when this came out. Could not care less about scuba diving, but Jaquline Bisset in this scene led to thousands and thousands of WET T SHIRT CONTESTS!!! Which I thoroughly enjoyed..😜😜😜😜 Thank you Jackie, wherever you are. You will always be that incredibly hot actress from this film, that made 19-year-old males drool.............
I first saw this movie as a teenager. I loved every moment of it. And fell in love with Jacqueline Bisset.
I'm not sure, but it might still be playing for free with ad's on RUclips.
Who didn't? Or at least in lust.
Her beauty & accent did it for me.
I saw it as a kid as well and have watched it half a dozen times since hoping they would put the good bits they cut out back in but they never do.
Me tooooo LOL
Great movie!
7:42 I’m a chain fanatic, and the chains supporting the deck are extraordinary! They appear to be Trident Marine Chains Type 316 stainless steel ISO Grade 40 anchor windlass chains. They are a short pitch type chain that makes it more flexible and suitable for working with anchor windlass gypsies. Each link of chain is proof tested and calibrated to assure strength and fit with the windlass gypsy. These are exquisite! Thank you algorithm!
I always think it's cool when there is some (seemingly random) thing that someone is really into. Thanks for the fun post.
I remember seeing that in the theater when I was 15 and hearing somebody behind me yell "down in front."!
I miss the 70‘s.
Me too
PS: The stunt double DID have her shoulder dislocated while filming that first scene.
It was HARD not to notice
I didn’t know that … but I do know the lighthouse guy stunt double … never walked again !
That's a tough gig to recover from.
Ah, what a movie!! Saw this as a kid and have watched it about 100 times since then!
The night this movie premiiered, I insisted to a friend that we see this...instead of the other movie playing...something about outer space...Star Wars I think it was called. My friend never let me forget it.
you made the right choice
The director knew exactly what he was doing with the t-shirt…
As a young boy remembering this movie, there’s one reason (well two) we’re watching this now.
Careful, kid. You'll put your eye out!
Jacquelin Bisset, simply stunning.
I saw these two things 7:42 in the movie theater when I was 15 years old and I was like "Thank you God!"
I was 15 when this movie came out. I remember all of us boys talking about that T-shirt. Oh boy!
I remember when this movie came out i was 9, she was so beautiful
One of the best opening scenes in movie history!
I bought the deep on blue ray a few years ago brilliant film Robert Shaw what an actor
Robert Shaw's younger brother, Alex, was my local doctor when I was a teenager.I always loved Robert Shaw in this film, plus Jaws, The Sting, and The Battle of the Bulge. I still remember the TV series he starred in, in the late 1950's, The Buccaneer.
Bisset was my all-time favorite beauty...watching her swim in this movie, i then knew why they called it a T shirt.
Splendid pair. Just sayin'...
John Barry’s Score is beautiful!!
I remember those opening scenes. Well I remember two things about those opening scenes actually. 😁
The SEVENTIES had the best movies, best music, beautyull people , great clothes.....etc etc.....❤
I never realized it was the Moray Eel. I had always thought it was supposed to be like a ghost or something spooky that was just left unexplained.
The eel makes more sense but I always liked the unexplained angle better.
She made two really compelling points 😊
“……When you’re swimmin’ in the creek and an eel bites your cheek…..that’s a moray….”
There real and there spectacular…..
*They're, and *they're
@@samuelluria4744 Actually the double meaning can work here.
Thanks. I was lost in the moment while spellchecking…….
@@MrJeffcoley1 - "There [is one that's] real[,] and there [is one that's] spectacular"...

It took multiple viewings to fully appreciate the important points of the scene
This was really a solid, fun movie and we had more appreciation for Ms. Bisset as a result.
As a scuba novice, I thought it was nice of Ms Bissette to offer a few pointers 😉
LOL!!!
I was fortunate to have seen this in the theater. How many young males developed a life-long fascination with wet t-shirts?
I saw it in the theatre also .... but I developed a lust for what was under the t shirt instead !
@@Ridethebomb777 "Merchandising", son.
@@tamanpashar2900 Thanks Dad.

Saw this in a theater as a 10 year old. I distinctly remember at around 7:40 of this clip completely forgetting the scare from only a few minutes earlier.
TBS used to show this version long ago and later blurred it out. Come on man.
There is nothing scary about the opening scene. It is a wet t-shirt contest. She is a absolute stunner! So beautiful 😍
And the best use of a T shirt, in the history of mankind, goes to Jaqueline Bisset!
It was a titillating experience to watch this opening of the film.
@@rog9601 Thanks for the mammary!
Water support effect on her breasts is gorgeous,!

Well that still gets my Pufferfish inflated!
First rule of scuba diving; stay within sight of each other.
One of my all time favorite garments. 🔥
Saw this as a kid in 1977. Had a phobia of moray eels for years afterward.
Same…also I saw Jaws when I was a kid and the next day I was freaked out swimming in a lake even though I knew it was impossible for a shark to be there. I was 10
@@betterd9160 I was scared of all bodies of water including swimming pools, puddles and bathtubs.
Heard a good one from Ben Stiller: "There were two reasons I watched 'The Deep' and neither of them were Nick Nolte."
We all know why we're here...
I’m bald
I’m here for a couple of reasons.
Chapel hat pegs
The fishy's..?
To see how not to use a knife?
This movie is like Jaws-lite. Same era, from a novel by the same writer as Jaws. It deserves more love and would be a good back-to-back watch with Jaws.
Wonderful music
It’s John Barry 😊
@animaljustice7774 I have the 2Cd score which was released by Intrada.
Observing nature is always entertaining.
Jacqueline…… oh my goodness!!!! Never had an actress impacted me since Jennifer O’Neil in Summer Of 42…. They are my all time impressionable actresses of my very young adulthood.
I do believe that movie "Little Darlings" with all those teen stars ranks up there too!
She was a hottie before we all knew what the term meant
😂I just watched this last night😊might put it in my favorites box.
me too i watched it dozons of times
yep.........i was there in 1977 to see this flick when it came out.
You can see a uso churning under the water behind them at 7:53.
I remember this movie from Youth... Something to watch later. Thanks.
Remember the movie well.😀 had the poster on my wall!
SAW THIS AT A DRIVE IN BACK IN THE 70'S
You mean a …DIVE IN??….😂
I saw this at the old Jerry Lewis Theater.
Great movie. Lived in Fort Walton Beach when this came out.
Damn, i miss the old days. This stuff is never coming back.
Geez, Jackie! You left the high beams on!
She won Miss Wet T Shirt that year.
Ah yes , the 70s 😊
That was filmed on the Wreck of the Rhone, BVI. It sits in 85' of water. If they had bolted like that without a safety stop, air embolism for sure.
In the first few minutes they managed to blow off just about every rule of diving and dive ethics.
@@MartinReiter143 - Which dive ethics?
And nitrogen narcosis.
@@samuelluria4744 Handling and interfering with marine creatures, mainly. Disturbing the marine environment.
The rule is “hands off.”.
@@samuelluria4744 Other failures- no one on the boat with divers down. No “divers down” flag. Maybe these things were not required in that distant past.
I can’t believe Waterman allowed his name to be used on this train wreck.
I don’t remember the last time this movie was shown on tv. Is it even available for streaming?
Never turn your back to the ocean, especially when you are diving in it.
And Jackie should have remembered the curious cat...
Assisti este filme eu tinha 15 sn9s

great movie
....and tee-shirts were never the same.
Ahhhhhh... Jaqui has such beautiful brown eyes.
Damn impressive
Definitely polished helmet a few times on a cold winter night back in the day watching this
comment of the day..
Hell, who as a young boy, watching this didn’t 😆
MInutes in, we teenage males knew this was going to be a movie we would never forget. 45 years later wet white tshirts are still the sexiest thing in the world to me. I figure it was THIS movie.
This and “Dressed to Kill” have spectacular opening scenes, a wet t-shirt and steamy glass.
An amazing classic that stands the test of time ~ everything works in this movie production👌
Some of us were teenagers at this point, and in the shadow of Jaqueline Bisset’s evident beauty, we may inadvertently have set the bar a little to high in search of future girlfriends after being acquainted with that magnificent lady😋😉 ~ 💁♂️I know I did!!!❣️
😍😍 Enough said!
Seen it once in cinema(1977/8).. that's it...
Tried many times to find it using RUclips...but😢..
На ютубе есть только трейлеры,а в интернете найдёшь весь фильм
And how much air do they have on that dive
I have never understood why Nick Nolte was as popular as he was. I think he is about as interesting as a piece of cardboard. And about as good an actor.
Greatest scene in a shark movie hands down lol
My first eet t shirt i ever saw
Saudades ❤❤❤❤❤❤
5:34 Can a moray eel really do that? With that strength?
That's a Body Double doing the stuff.
Nice Bissets

Love the gratuitous wet white t-shirt…
So actually a soft sex movie
Most would argue it was essential.
This opening sequence was the first scene I remember as a child that made me interested in a woman’s form…
