I'm an American and he's been my idol since 1999. When he played Vegas because he decided that living in America in anonymity was what he wanted. He did play some states, NYC, L. A. etc but couldn't do it for personal reasons..depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol addiction and said a US tour would have killed him.. now, he was ready to play in America, and he decided on Las Vegas. He sold out every night for weeks till the pandemic hit. He met an american girl and with her help he conquered his demons. He is now the happiest man with 4 beautiful kids married for about 16 years. He still tours and still draws big crowds. He's come a long way from being a 15 year old kid in the boyband Take That, that was huge in the UK..fame money at that age without proper guidance almost took him away. I knew that song Angel's saved him. He was going to be dropped from the record label when he went solo and Angel's saved his career. For 25 years he sings Angel's at the end of his set watch "Better Man" on Netflix and watch his life story told by himself from the beginning to now. He's definitely got Angel's around him. He had St. Michael tattooed on his arm. He's a big believer in St.Michael. He's truly an angel. He is the ambassador of Unicef and has a celebrity soccer match called Soccer Aid and draws millions of dollars to help children in third world countries. He helps the town he came from and started the Donna Louise fund to help people with health issues. This man gives and gives and that's why God has blessed him.
This was a very very very big hit in whole Europe in 1998. Even now in 2024, when this music starts, everyone sings along. It is incredibly special that it never reached the USA.
I could never stand Robbie Williams back in the day, but now I'm older i watch him now and I think to myself, what a good lad he is. He's a proper entertainer, just like Freddie Mercury was. Great reaction sir!
This crowd was just for him, no festival. 125 000 in a field, sold out 3 x in a row. Love Supreme, Feel, Strong, Road to Mandalay, and so many more songs to discover. I think you'd enjoy his swing, rat pack songs, too. Esp. Mr. Bojangles, or his duet with Nicole Kidman "Something stupid".
Sir, my uni friends and I from Montréal were at Woodstock in '69, so I do recognise your comparison. It has consistantly surprised me that Robbie Williams, a performer widely loved and acclaimed across Europe, in Australia, Japan, S Africa, and even in Canada, is generally unknown in the US.
Robbie is a very great deal indeed, as said before me here: in the whole world except the USA. He and his music helped me through depressions. He has his own history of mental health problems; he has always been open about that and he's now making art about it. I have made friends on the forum on his old website, and we chatted with himself there too. Unfortunately some fan-fanatics spoiled that, but he had a direct line to his fans eve before social media. I met him in 2014 before his concert in Amsterdam. He invited his fans to a fan-only pyjama party concert in The Roundhouse in London, and gave free access to fans to the dress rehearsal (full concert try-out) in Manchester.
Everybody here in Australia knows every word too. Robbie put on a great show for us at the AFL grand final in Melbourne a couple of years ago, to over 100,000 people- he cost us an arm and a leg but he did a good job on the day 😂❤
I lived in Knebworth at the time and enjoyed this concert from my patio but the interesting thing about this concert was it didn't happen on one night but they emptied out and had the same thing the next night.....over half a million in one weekend !
I am a rock, jazz and blues fan, but have to admit he has great talent. To write and perform such an anthem about a guardian angel and salvation is quite remarkable. The British love to sing along to this song when in crowds, together with , strangely, "sweet Caroline". Just discovered your channel. Thanks.
Robbie never ‘broke’ America, so lots of Americans do not know this song - which is a great shame as it is a beautiful song. At his peak in the early 2000s he was huge just about everywhere else and there was lots of expectation that he would make it in America, but he was really struggling with his level of fame and the attention of the press, so he pretty much decided that he’d rather live in America with anonymity than become famous there.
If you like Jazz Robbie did a great Jazz Album and a live concert at The Royal Albert Hall....theres a video....you may like it.😊 Im 66 now ..this was 21 years ago...i remember it very well ...my late mum loved Robbie...she watched the whole concert she was 70 at the time.😊.. I just adore Robbie. Hes basically a British Institution, we ALL know Robbie. He was the wild child who calmed down (a bit😂) and is just really loved here in the UK. Such a funny, lovely, crazy bloke. He's very British. Married to an American though, lives on your side of the pond now. His daughter was a bridesmaid to Princess Eugeine when she got married and hes good friends with the Royal Family. Angels is played at many funerals in the UK. Actually I believe it was 375,000 that day. It meant a lot to Robbie because he had just left a huge boy band here called Take That. He'd gone solo and was terrified his fan base might have forgotten him. They most definitely hadnt😂😂❤ that smile and big eyes melt a womans heart...and men love him cos hes a huge personality. One of those crazy, wild tattoo covered guys who is actually a a great big softy and your driver...... was an Angel....im sure...just had his wings hidden. Thank you for the blessing. Love from England.
It’s crazy how some of our great British acts are so huge here but never made it in America. I’m confident 99% of American would love angels like we do, just haven’t had the chance to hear it
Robbie is a massive talent Me and my monkey is a great song of his about his struggle with addiction especially whilst he was in america. he's been clean for a very long time now. when he first met his wife she didnt know he was famous until he took her back to his compound in LA . and she asked who are you? and he showed her this concert and said this is me
Robbie W. has come a long way through a world-famous boy group, music industry with its consequences, major drug problems and depression. He needed an angel. We always sang this song back then. - Concerts of this size are not quite so unusual in Europe.
I recently saw the "Back for Good" video and thought about that boy in it, wearing this faux fur coat, and thought that nobody could have imagined what would happen. (though the same is for the others, especially Gary - they went through hard times and became respectable musicians, in my eyes the only boy band that achieved that)
Actually another very talented British guy. Like so many before him and after him. I liked how amazed you were, back than we had a lot of these shows with big crouds.. I don't know about today. Like your reactions. Cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎
Despite the fact this song is known by all ages in the UK, and is probably amongst the most famous and recognised songs if the last 30 years here, it never reached number 1 in the UK charts, shocking ain't it?
Hi i just came across your channel. It was the biggest outside concert for a single artist at the time. Loved how you listened to the song without pausing ❤

In 2003 he performed to over 375,000 people at the Knebworth concerts. Not quite as big as Woodstock as that was 500,000 people if my memory serves me right! Robbie Williams was a member of the massive Manchester group Take That who were massive in the 1990's and still are, though not with Robbie anymore. Hope you enjoyed it. ❤️🔥
Robbie so desperately wanted to break America, and was touted to become the next James Bond after Brosnan despite having no acting experience, but none of it happened. He actually wrote a song about it (I will talk talk and Hollywood will listen). Ironically, he chose Hollywood (West Hollywood/Bevery Hills) to become his place of anonymity and isolation after a life of extreme fame that led him to extreme drug and alcohol abuse/adiction. I hope you do explore more of his music, he truly is a fantastic artist. I think now he's sober it's time for his breakthrough. He's just released his biographical movie. It's coming to the US in December.

I was living in England when this came out, & I knew him before he became a solo artist, when he was singing with the successful boy band Take That. My teenage daughter always had them playing in her bedroom. Robbie is a talented singer/songwriter, & when he left Take That to pursue a solo career, the record company threatened to cancel his contract with them. I bet they are very glad they didn’t do that. This song came out in 1997. When Robbie’s first child, his daughter, was born in 2012, he wrote a song for her, which was recorded in 2013. It’s called Go Gentle ….. Robbie Williams - Go Gentle - (official music video) …. He’s ten years older than he was when he did this concert. Robbie was a guest singer in a recent Taylor Swift concert. Great Reaction. Robbbie Williams was in a boyband first called Take That. The boyband Take That with Robbie Williams in it was also famous around the world with huge audiences of mostly girls. I drove my sister to a Take That concert, Robbie Williams was still in the band at that time. Robbie Williams was the bad boy of the group, getting into trouble, sleeping around, abusing drugs and was kicked out of Take That for misbehaving. Later Robbie went solo and came with the song Angels, the song is from 1997 when it first came out. I danced on my friends wedding to his hit song Angels. Robbie Williams had a hard time being recognized in every country he went to so he decided to move and live in the the US where almost no one knows him to live in anonimity. Robbie Williams now has a wife and children so his bad boy days are over. P.s. You hear a lot of American RUclips reactors say why dont I know this worldwide famous artist or that famous artist that is because your radio and tv stations mostly play only American artists while other countries around the world play new hit songs by artists from other countries. I mean you probably never heard of the band Rammstein, they are very famous around the world but not in the US. Another reason Americans dont know about famous artists from other countries is this, I'll use the following singer as example. We have a famous singer here in Europe called Anouk, she got a record deal in the US then the American record label wanted to make her into something she wasnt. Anouk said I want to be my own person and sing songs my own way. It ended in an argument and now almost no one in the US knows who Anouk is, while she is huge over here. This does happen to a lot of famous artists from other countries who want to make it big in the US. I heard some of Anouks RUclips video's are even blocked for Americans to see. By the way Anouk sings for just as large audiences as Robbie Williams does.
@@paulschmehl2124 Regarding record labels when Angelina went to live in LA I tought hope she will not get caught by Hollywood and the big record labels. Angelina"s uncle her manager went to the US to studie contracts of record labels and only accepted a deal with a big record label on the terms Angelina family set up. Terms were she finished school before they promote her and that she can do everything in her own pace. Lots of singers sing about signing a contract with the devil. Bob Dylan openly admitted in an interview he did just that you can find this interview on RUclips did just hat just like Katy Perry said in interview. Regarding Angelina Jordan the boss of the record company said to his staff do anything to sign her but it is all on Angelina's family terms so that is good.
@@paulschmehl2124 I think musicians that are superstars in Europe or worldwide like that they are not known in the US. They can lead a more normal live there. Same for actors etc. - in Germany, Australia or the UK they can't go to the supermarket without being accosted by fans and in the US noone knows them.
I strongly recommend you listen to Paolo Nutini sing iron sky at Abby Road Studio…….the lyrics are very powerful Thank you for lovely reaction, very respectful to the artist and listening to the song all the way through

He hasn’t lived in the us for several years. They lived in Switzerland for a few years but after the pandemic they moved to west London. He wanted the children to be educated here.
Open air concerts and festivals are a bigger thing in Europe A band you likely haven't heard of Sabaton a Swedish power metal band who sing about historical events draw large crowds to their concerts in Europe but play very small places in the USA when they tour. Their song about The Warsaw Uprising in 1944 which they played before about half a million Poles is truly impressive: ruclips.net/video/BmerZbDPXns/видео.html They also did a song called "En Livstid I Krig" (A Lifetime of War) about the Thirty Years War (1618 - 1648) in which Sweden was involved which has the whole stadium in Gothenburg in Sweden singing the song in Swedish: ruclips.net/video/WBs3G1PvyfM/видео.html I take a more practical understanding of angels - they are messengers of God and I view them as very human.
It's prob one of the most well known songs in the UK. Robbie's had more No.1 albums in the UK than Elvis, Madonna, ABBA, U2 or Michael Jackson. The only artists that have more than him are The Beatles & The Rolling Stones.
you should react to greenday hyde park crowd singing queen, no band, no one on stage, just queen in the back ground the greatest sone ever performed and written, i wont say what it is, to peak your interest

What a shame. The American record industry is evil.
I strongly recommend you listen to Paolo Nutini sing iron sky at Abby Road Studio…….the lyrics are very powerful
Thank you for lovely reaction, very respectful to the artist and listening to the song all the way through

he lives in the us as it is the only place nobody recognizes him
He hasn’t lived in the us for several years. They lived in Switzerland for a few years but after the pandemic they moved to west London. He wanted the children to be educated here.
Love your story.
We have these kind of festivals that mean many nore fans can attent as its outdoors
God bless you! You're a sweet man : )
Great videos sir
Not a phone in sight
He’s popular in the UK not just England, it’s not the same thing 🇬🇧
Come Undone and Advertising Space are great RW songs
You don't get crowds that big anymore. This should be dimash on stage with this many people in Britain.
You should check out Glastonbury Festival & the Legends spots...Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond, Dame Shirley Bassey...
Now im singing the song. Amarillo by tony christie 😂❤
Open air concerts and festivals are a bigger thing in Europe
A band you likely haven't heard of Sabaton
a Swedish power metal band who sing about historical events
draw large crowds to their concerts in Europe
but play very small places in the USA when they tour.
Their song about The Warsaw Uprising in 1944 which they played before
about half a million Poles is truly impressive:

They also did a song called "En Livstid I Krig" (A Lifetime of War)
about the Thirty Years War (1618 - 1648) in which Sweden was involved
which has the whole stadium in Gothenburg in Sweden singing the song in Swedish:

I take a more practical understanding of angels - they are messengers of God
and I view them as very human.
