    As a ferriby fan, I know that the majority of the fans that come to the games don't want Waltham to move the club. He's saying that the club would attract more fans at Dene Park but he has tried and failed at the same theory with another team that he was involved with. He had the intention of moving the club as soon as he acquired it and no doubt before hand. Personally, I hope the FA turn his plans down on the grounds that they don't want another Wimbledon/MK dons fiasco happening again. If he does end up moving the 'league status', I as well as many others, will still be going to watch North Ferriby United or any Phoenix club that arises from the ashes of Ferriby.

      Non League YT I think Waltham believes more will go if he moves ferriby to dunswell because of the league that they will be in. The club he was involved with are 2 or 3 divisions below ferriby at the moment and he couldn't be bothered with getting that club through the leagues, so he acquired ferriby to make it easier for himself.

    Sad to see North Ferriby in this situation. This will happen to many other ambitious village teams. Just a shame the fa can't realize that making these teams with small stadiums and low attendances make their stadiums bigger will just run them into the ground.

    Up here in Scotland. My team Livingston were born out of Meadowbank Thistle in Edinburgh. Who played out of the Commonwealth stadium from 1974. Problem being Meadowbank we're pulling crowds of 250-300 being only half mile from Hibernian's Easter Road stadium.
    The chairman moved the team to the NewTown of Livingston 19miles away. Which had
    a population of 45,000 but no senior football team. Now in 2018 we sit in the Championship below the SPL pulling crowds of 800-1300 in a 10,000 seated stadium. After 5 championships, two administrations and demotion to the 3rd tier of senior football in 23 years. As well as a Scottish League Cup Trophy win in 2004.
    Airdrie Utd were born out of the demise of Clydebank. As the original Airdrieonians went bust, just so happened that Clydebank were going bust at the same time. Switched registration, kept the ground in Airdrie.

    North Ferriby are a strange club looking in as a casual attendee. I’m at the University of Hull, and until I watched this video, all I knew of them was that they were a local team who had massively overachieved for their size and were sinking back down the leagues. Sadly, albeit North Ferriby being too far outside of Hull to demand much of a casual attendance, the fact of the matter is wherever the club was “relocated” to in the surrounding area, Hull isn’t a big enough sporting city to demand the attendance levels needed to sustain a team at almost any level, and for any team to succeed, they will need to be bankrolled by an owner, evident even as high up as in City’s demise now Allam has pulled his funds. Hopefully I’m proven wrong and either Ferriby or whatever new club appears can thrive, but I sadly can’t see it happening on any level.

  • @philkitchen8006
    @philkitchen8006 6 лет назад +5

    Whilst I feel sorry for North Ferriby fans, reality has finally come home to roost. Clubs cannot compete at this level when they are village based teams on fan support alone. They need a large financial and dedicated backer . Even teams like Gainsborough Trinity struggle to give their manager a budget with a good chance of beating the drop. I would like the FA to ban all transfer of clubs more than 5 miles from their original base. Rich owners should not be allowed to effectively buy a high league place/status (like Milton Keynes Dons). by transferring a team to their chosen location. Finally, I would like to see all clubs, league and non-league have to pay the taxman monthly all monies due at the same time they pay their players. I'm fed up reading about clubs who effectively use money belonging to the taxman to pay next months wage bill and then end up owing huge sums. If a team cannot balance its books at the end of the season it should be demoted three divisions!

    • @NonLeagueYT
      @NonLeagueYT  6 лет назад

      Phil Kitchen I like your idea about having a limit on distance that a team can be moved, and clubs should be able to balance books. However, paying staff is the most important priority a club has when paying bills so that naturally comes before the tax bills.

    I feel sorry fo NFU as I have been through it before ten years ago with Nuneaton when we went through major financial madness, and we decided to restart. So we changed names(Nuneaton Borough to Nuneaton Town), took the 2 league demotion(Conf North to Southern premier division one midlands) and ended up getting new owners and we one play-offs two years on the bounce and got back to Conf north as quick as possible. I hope North Ferriby can do something like this and i wish them good luck

    I feel for North Ferriby & there fans. North Ferriby should stay in North Ferriby where it belongs with the true fans that it has. Another Wimbledon / MK Dons should never ever be allowed to happen at any level of football. Teams are set up in local communities by local people and mainly supported by them and that is how it should always be. The FA should look into ways of how these smaller clubs can be run much better without the aim of bankrupting them. Local teams have a big role to play in their local communities with local people and should not be allowed to move to other towns because somebody has bought them. These are teams and local communities not an item you can just buy and then throw away when somebody gets fed up with. Good luck to North Ferriby & your great supporters however large or small you are you are important to your local club.

    Those clubs that do what to go onto league football and can attract the fan base should be then prioritised to recieve financial backing for stadium grants and such. the smaller B teams can have their facilities upgraded by the parent club.
    its the only way to keep village football sustainable and still allow the teams to be somewhat competitive. Have a new national competition run in a similar fashion to the champions league so teams play each other locally, then regionally, then nationally competing for an FA shield.
    This would bring in much needed tv revenue as bbc, itv could show B team games with that tv money being ringfenced for the development of further youth facilities.
    Try and get the FA to encourage mergers for some teams like what has just happened at Ossett town and Albion so that target areas and demographics have the opportunity to bring league football to their area,
    Ossett has the potential to draw from Wakefield, Dewsbury, Ossett and the Surrounding areas to really have a great fan base and team to rival the larger teams such as Leeds.
    The whole league system needs modernising. Those teams that are financially able to sustain their status of course should carry on as they are and each B team should still have some Autonomy with the managers able to bring in talent from other clubs and the surrounding football fields. This is also where trainee managers for the football league can cut their teeth.
    obviously my plan would need some work however there is room here for this kind of thing to happen.
    The championship should be reduced down to 20 teams with a commonwealth cup developed for teams from the top leagues in australia, canada, south africa and india to take part with an invitational to the MLS in a similar competition to the Champions league. this would bring in much needed revenue and would allow the defeated finalist of the cups to take part as well as the playoff finalist who didnt make the premier league and the next 3 highest placed teams. this cup should be only allowed to be shown on terrestial tv protecting sport on freeview. as a wild car the winner of the FA trophy and finalist should also be given entry to a preliminary round. The EFL was taken aback when the premier league formed however with a commonwealth cup helping to develop football in developing markets there is the potential that teams may reject being promoted to the premier league as staying at championship level would be more sustainable in the long term and has a more attractive competition. the premier league should not get any invites to this league at all unless they are cup finalists.
    This cup competition would also give smaller teams the likes of Burton Albion and Fleetwood town the opportunity to reach a level they can grow from nationally and internationally, growing their fan base for a potential opportunity in the premier league when they can sustain that level of football.
    too many teams go up and come straight back down and with so many teams doing that the championship is becoming a league that is fast outgrowing the teams that get promotion that are smaller and dont have the revenue to compete.
    There is every possibility that over 10-20 years the championship could be a league that is more sustainable for smaller clubs and that can compete with the premier league for viewership around the world. Offering clubs the chance to play in a big competition without the massive overheads that come with the premier league.
    this would grow fan bases of football clubs at every level as the likes of Kidderminster and Chorley FC have an aim to get into the championship and finishing anywhere upto 8th/9th would give commonwealth football, top 2 go up automatic, playoff for 3rd place promotion. declining promotion means next best team goes up and they swap for a commonwealth cup place.
    one place given to the team with the best fair play in the football league.
    Teams such as Blackpool who have had as i quote from the cout case been asset stripped from their premier league promotion could have declined their place in the premier league and played in the commonwealth cup growing their brand internationally and built up their finances for an eventual acceptance to the premier league to have a real good go at it.
    This would help Australian football, canadian football, northern irish football, welsh football, scottish football, Irish football if they wanted an invitational, USA soccer if they accepted the invitational, south african football, indian football and any other commonwealth country able to offer facilities and tv coverage that is up to an acceptable standard. The sponsorship would be brilliant for commonwealth businesses, flight companies could offer cheaper flights for traveling fans, the local economies for each team would grow, the level of football would improve and players looking to make a name for themselves that have been overlooked would have the opportunity to shine.
    anyway sorry for the essay hope that you can cherry pick through some of what i am saying and see a vision for the future that protects village football as someone described but also helps those smaller clubs have a more realistic dream that could eventually lead to dreaming bigger.
    The Commonwealth cup.

      Ashleigh Cartwright Interesting way of looking at the situation, however, I am mostly against feeder clubs as they cause teams to lose teams personality and can mean that clubs live in the shadow of their parent club. However, if the right balance can be struck, the model that you are suggesting could work.

      Lets take kidderminster, Now they are a team with a large enough fan base to achieve league 2 football, with the correct marketing they can reach out to surrounding markets and grow, maybe eventually get into the championship with the right management and support. To grow a fan base large enough to compete in the Premier division with the surrounding premier teams already is not really going to happen. maybe one day they can attract a fan base around 8-10k. getting to the championship and establishing themselves as a championship team is no mean feat, however with a commonwealth cup they could after a few years build up a war chest so to speak from tv revenue, marketing and sales of merchandise. this would allow them if they could achieve the league position to go into the premier league with the lower gates of 8-10k take the initial growth of 2-5k who come and watch because its the premier league and still have the funds to have a good go at the premier league. they would have already attracted and grown their own squad as the commonwealth cup would draw in the best of the best and encourage youger players to have more achievable goals of playing in the cup wether here in the uk, in ireland, wales or abroad. this would give smaller teams the chance. instead of the other scenario of kidderminster working their way up the league with a small fan base and not really growing it so they can be sustainable, they wouldnt beable to attract the players, they wouldnt be able to attract the youth players and they would more than likely be relegated back to the championship never to rise again. If the bottom fell out of the club due to contracts, expenses of ground upgrades etc kidderminster could find themselves dropping back down through the leagues.
      With a commonwealth cup even teams in league one, even th conference and below have the chance to have a go through fair play, the fa trophy and positioning in the fa cup, get to the semi final and if there are still places in the commonwealth cup available from the uk they could slip in.
      the spot light would move away from being on the premier league entirely, if it is protected and on terrestial tv then there is no reason why the english football league and the conference cant have a share of tv money that will help them be more sustainable.
      we wouldnt see billion pound tv deals however any more revenue is better than none.
