Hi Latoya! Makaton is a signed system. BSL is a language with it's own grammar and syntax. I'm speaking so that hearing people watching the video will understand the sign. But even so, when signing (BSL), you must use lip patterns as well as signs, gestures etc. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Ahh that's great Latoya! I'll be posting weekly and I do intend to do a video on Christian signs, so watch out for that! I'm also planning to do videos explaining the difference between makaton and BSL, what is BSL etc, so subscribe and you'll know when I upload them. Thanks for the question. I'll put something in my description to clarify why I'm speaking in my videos. If you want to learn BSL, you can look at your local council's Further education colleges for British Sign Language Level 1. One of the main course examiners, Signature, have a list of accredited providers that you can look up courses run in your area: www.signature.org.uk/british-sign-language Hope that helps!
I'll be making more videos in the future that will be more appropriate for BSL Level 2, which will be more conversational. I'm starting off with more vocabulary aimed at beginners.
What pets do you have (or would like)? Comment below!
