True...but The Flyers have several players (Drafting/Scouting/Marketing/Ticket Sales) littering the Front-Office who have no business being there. The Front Office needs an overhaul...Someone of a Higher Authority better get a clue...fast.

Chris is exactly right; there's no passion on this team....time to bring in a gm that kicks some butts out the door.....Mike Keenan traded half the team in Vancouver and set them up for a run in the cup final in 2011.

I never liked my team playing against Chris. Thought he was garbage… but right now hes “spitting hot fire”. Hes 100% right and the NHL has to take some advice from him. Thank you Sir, your giving me hope for the nhl
There is a whole host of issues with the Flyers but I will focus on two. The first is the AHL team. Guys seem to develop through juniors and the ECHL which is fine but once they hit the AHL, their development comes to a screeching halt. When someone gets called up, they do not look ready. The Phantoms are probably being run for profit over development, so that explains it. The second one is defense. I think Hart is a great goaltender playing in front of 6 dumpster fires. The forward corps can be good, but are held back by the defense. Provorov is not playing like a first pair guy or like a motivated hockey player. That is on him. Coaching only goes so far. At some point, the player has to be self-motivated and I do not think it is there. Ellis has not played 49-35-4 games in the last 3 years. I am not depending on him next season at all. At 31. Risto is a bust. You got the same production from Braun at a third of the salary. Now you are stuck with him for 5 years. Sanheim flashes good play but again, that is self-motivation. York is young and has potential but needs coaching and development. Zamula. See above. There is nobody else of note. Until you fix the dumpster fire of a defense, you honestly have no idea of what you need. As long as the AHL staff is not coaching and developing, there is nothing to see here. I eagerly await the hit pieces on Hart telling us that he was not what we expected, blaming others instead of the organization. Lack of coaching. Lack of development. Lack of motivation. Pointing fingers. What an organization.
All good points...but the Drafting/Scouting falls on the Front Office, which has missed the mark many times over the past 10 years...none of whom have been held accountable for their inactions. That team on the other side of the side of the Commonwealth: no matter where, or what round they draft, they always have players ready to contribute almost immediately if any 'regulars' go down. The Flyers aren't even in that league. We're too busy drafting career minor leaguers who will never be NHL ready if/when they're called-upon.
pearl, you have a career 4th line thug coaching in lehigh valley, everyone liked lapariere as a player, but what can he teach young players when his entire career was spent in the penalty box. i go to alot of hershey bear games in the ahl, so i get to see the phantoms, the coach plays the same 2 lines the whole game and the rest get spotted shifts, nobody is going to learn anything that way
I feel like everyone is afraid to say it, but the Flyers org needs to get rid of Bobby Clarke and Paul Holmgren. These guys have been with the org for over 20 years and have made some of the dumbest moves, yet somehow move up the ranks in management with the team.
Therien is right about so many things in here and id even say its not flyers problem its whole league, the league has been slowly turned into really corporative money making machine and it takes the heart out of it
In general, the faster teams have better runs to the Stanley Cup. The Flyers should have made the change after losing to Montreal in 75-76, as the Canadiens had the prototype (think Bob Gainey or Larry Robinson) for successful teams in the future. If there is one major failing, the Flyers are a SLOW team--which certainly wasn't rectified by choosing Patrick. The Flyer scouts knew this, yet Hextall had his way. Speed kills in football and hockey.
so even though we lost to the canadians in 75-76 we stilll made the finals in 80-85-87-97 an the semi finals in 91-92-94-96. meawhile montreal won their last cup in 78-79, an then didnt see the finals again until 93 an none since then until 2020 lol, i think the flyers have had more success in the long term with the way we play
In lieu of the salary cap, we got here because of: Bad Drafts; GMs who are Not-too-bright maintaining/manipulating the salary cap; 'standing pat' (year-after-year) during the Trade deadline, and when we trade, we give up a King's ransom for many players past their primes (ex. Adam Oates, Chris Pronger); and...wait for it...Way too many Flyers taking up time and space in the front office. Take it further, Bundy. Why are Bob Clarke and Paul Holmgren still around? They're certainly not helping the cause. This has filtered-down to our draft selections, none of whom have made any impact on our Cup prospects, and many will wind-up becoming career minor leaguers, and will never see the light of day in the NHL. Also getting tired of hearing that the players we do draft are '...5 years away...' from making the team. What a pathetic mess.
actually pronger was one of the better signings we've had in the last 20 years, also getting eric dejarsdan and leclair for mark recchi was a great trade for us, sadly the lindros trade was a disaster.
@@mikekroft86 Agree with you 100% on the Lindros trade. One can only imagine a team who could have Jagr in 1990 (instead of Mike Ricci) and Forsberg (1991) to help rebuild a team. But once again, our short-sightedness, ineptitude at drafting and evaluating talent took center stage… which happens quite often with this team. Here’s hoping that Briere brings the kind of change needed to build a championship-caliber team.
Great show! This woke brand they're putting in place is ruining the Flyers brand. I agree on the Nolan Patrick draft. Sam Morin was worse. JVR contract has to go, whether paying part of his salary or not, that needs to go. Tortella will help, D'Angelo will be a great addition, but who is going to score goals? Fletcher missed out on Gaudreau, and that was his last chance and now he has to go.
so now in hindsite lolololo deangelo was the worst move we could have made, on a positive note, hayes and jvr and provorov are gone, we need to put elllis on LTIR, an either trade cotouriree or make him show up and play an earn a paycheck. either way, now that heads have rolled, the rebuild has started an they better not stop, this org isnt going to be able to handle an extended rebuild for years, without seeing positive results
@@mikekroft86 Most Flyer fans I know are fed up already. Their choice of GM'S has been their biggest problem in my opinion. . Ive never seen an organization who manages to always get it wrong on every decision. The Ellis acquisition was doomed from the beginning. I do think the one thing we actually got right was Hart but with the horrid defense in fromt of him, his confidence is shattered now. Ellis was an absolutely horrible choice due to injury problems, and it wasn't like we had any room for error. I honestly believe that the team reputation has become an issue with players signing or going elsewhere now. What a disgrace it is to think that we have become one of "those" locations. It seems to me that the organization keeps changing direction every year or two, and somehow seems to pick the wrong direction everytime. They start a rebuild, then start signing guys past their prime, who really have nothing left to contribute, or just don't fit into the program. We also have several players who play with no emotion or drive, and it shows on the ice and in the standings. As for Coots, I've golfed with him a few times as he's from my area. Honestly, I could see him retiring as he just can't get healed up. When he can't golf, you know he's hurting, and the team is not the same without him. Like him or not. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I do know this team is constantly moving in different directions, and always seem to choose the wrong path. Time will tell and this team will either continue to spiral or hopefully turn a corner.
thats why they made the changes, i know your post was a year ago, but they could barely fill the lower bowl of the wellsfargo center this season, something had to happen before we became the florida panthers during the reg season
2010 we ran to the finals, if we have a goalie, we win it easy, not to mention that was the first year of a dynasty in chicago, think about it, and our luck. 75-76, we lose in finals to a canadian team that ran off 4 cups in a row, 79-80 we went undeeated in 35 games in a row, then lost to the islanders who went on to win 4 cups in a row, then we go to the finals in 85. lose our all world goalie in a car accident, and lose to the edmonton oilers who went on to win 4 in a row lol, skip ahead to 96-97 an we go to the finals an lose to a redwings team that won 3 out of the next 4 lol, its our history, always second best
heck hart was seeing a sports physcologist before he even became the flyers starting goalie, its nto good when your goalie has to have mental help before his career even starts

True...but The Flyers have several players (Drafting/Scouting/Marketing/Ticket Sales) littering the Front-Office who have no business being there. The Front Office needs an overhaul...Someone of a Higher Authority better get a clue...fast.
freakin love chris's attitude toward this!!
Great video. A new favorite
I love therien for saying that munch respect
Great insight. This is the kind of passion we criticize the team for not having
The Flyers will never win until Comcast sells the team.
Bundy was always covering Jagr during the 90''s. It's been hard to watch the flyers the past few years.
Best thing for the Flyers next season is to have a down year, win the draft lottery and go get Bedard.
Spot On Analysis.
Hated bundy as a player, but damn!! He sure as hell won me over post career, he can be in Hollywood with those impressions!! Clark and Leclair were dead on! He had me crying with laughter
Exactly what Therien is...A big clown....funny..likable...but a clown nonetheless....
Absolutely GUTLESS as a player...
A big slow 6ft 5 stiff who had NO SKILL and couldnt fight unless it was a Euro guy like Jagr , who wasnt a fighter , Therien couldnt muck it up with the guys who COULD PLAY TOUGH and COULD FIGHT...
Absolutely ZERO redeeming qualities on the ice except being liked and making guys laugh in the room....
Top 5 hated player in my book....
He names names about who is at fault and he is correct for all of us who know.
hahahahahahaha i can imagine him saying that about rico having to play defense with him lolololol
I literally agree with everything bundy said
At least torts is going to come on and have the guys playing properly giving it everything..
Gotta love Bundy
Great Show
Chris is exactly right; there's no passion on this team....time to bring in a gm that kicks some butts out the door.....Mike Keenan traded half the team in Vancouver and set them up for a run in the cup final in 2011.
What a difference when you have a podcast with individuals who are not directly or indirectly financially impacted by what they say! Watching Steve Coates and Jim Jackson and Co have a discussion about the state of the flyers is nauseating.
jim jackson has always been nuetral, even when he broadcast games for other teams, he's always for the most part nuetral, its his makeup, as for coates, he just drank to much lol
G ANSWERED THAT QUESTION A FEW WEEKS AGO. THEY ARE ONLY WORRIED ABOUT FILLING THE SEAT'S. LIKE THAT STUPID MASCOT IT'S HOCKEY. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE PUCK. FOLLOW THE PLAY SEE A PLAY COMING TOGETHER. NOT HAVE A STUPID MASCOT DANCING AROUND IN FRONT OF YOU. ED SNIDER WOULD NEVER NEVER HAVE THAT MASCOT.
He got fired for saying they suck
I think it's very telling that trotz turned them down...
This is exactly what the Islanders went thru for years
an sabres
They should make him general manager.
They let Mike Yeo coach. So let me get this straight, let's hire the guy that ran the wild into the cellar and hire him.
The rangers rebuild was a good decision. We have a lot of good young guys. And I miss the old flyers.
I never liked my team playing against Chris. Thought he was garbage… but right now hes “spitting hot fire”. Hes 100% right and the NHL has to take some advice from him. Thank you Sir, your giving me hope for the nhl
I saw all this coming when they left The Spectrum !!!
As for the draft, whoever they draft will be in the opening night lineup to sell tickets.
We're too busy drafting career minor leaguers who will never be NHL ready if/when they're called-upon.
pearl, you have a career 4th line thug coaching in lehigh valley, everyone liked lapariere as a player, but what can he teach young players when his entire career was spent in the penalty box. i go to alot of hershey bear games in the ahl, so i get to see the phantoms, the coach plays the same 2 lines the whole game and the rest get spotted shifts, nobody is going to learn anything that way
Damn therien did a great job of breaking down this situation to a tee
Bundy is the kind of person i would love to sit down with an have a couple beers an just listen to his stories
No you wouldn’t. He an alcoholic
I feel like everyone is afraid to say it, but the Flyers org needs to get rid of Bobby Clarke and Paul Holmgren. These guys have been with the org for over 20 years and have made some of the dumbest moves, yet somehow move up the ranks in management with the team.
Therien is right about so many things in here and id even say its not flyers problem its whole league, the league has been slowly turned into really corporative money making machine and it takes the heart out of it
Taking Away Kate Smith, disgraceful.
The "woke" crap has to go. They're ruining the Flyers brand.
Wow. Nasty is visibly uncomfortable with Bundy's comments. Maybe that NDA he has is worse than we think.
Please tell me what alumni that worked for the Flyers are gone and statues of alumni removed... who's
kate smith, was the statue, alumni, everyone but clarke an holmgren
Does Ed Schneider still own the Flyers?
He died.
I didn't even know.
Long as they get asses in the seats and are profitable by their metrics the soulless overlords won't give two shits about on ice product.
thats why they made the changes, i know your post was a year ago, but they could barely fill the lower bowl of the wellsfargo center this season, something had to happen before we became the florida panthers during the reg season
3:25, 8:43
2010 was a disappointment and they ruined them in 2011.
Everything woke turns to crap!
Hart fell apart after Covid
heck hart was seeing a sports physcologist before he even became the flyers starting goalie, its nto good when your goalie has to have mental help before his career even starts
What’s wrong with the Flyers NOW ?
The curse of Kate Smith !
Go woke, go broke !
Cut my teeth on Flyers beginning in 73. What they were then v. today...whew!...miles and miles apart. The once great orange n black "culture" is dead. So sad.
Since the Ed Snyder died they really gotten worst
Dinosaurs like Clarke and holmgren still directing the overall philosophy
Only team in phila not to make the playoffs
At least he played the game Brendal did u play
Flyers are the worse team in phila by far
Ed snider rolling over in his grave
