IMO, I think more people would play and recommend the game if they didn't have to research every hero before they work on it. People just want to go into a game, play it and not have to do research on which glyphs, artifacts, skills, skins and whether or not to use gifts of elements. The research should be in, which heroes work best together.
Exactly... you now remind me of my first 3 months when i did not know anything and was only looking for a small diversion. Example, after a few months i never knew about Super Titans and after that had to constantly keep looking up who they were. Also had to deal with bad Guilds which I was not expecting...
This is the whole reason I started the yt channel
What sucks is that a complete hero gets beaten by a selective upgrade hero - that is cooked
@@karizma8175i came here to say this 🎯
It's still crazy. Other games that cost a maximum of 20 euros per month have been around for a very long time, are doing well, have numerous updates, moderator support, REAL anti-cheating systems, in short, everything is fine. And in this game which requires a lot more money to be competitive, this is not going well according to the reports? Who are they kidding?? they are too greedy
It’s because even with all of that, people still pay and people still play
It is beyond ridiculous. An average whale (can we consider Charlie a whale? What about Misty?) spends well over a $1,000 on this game throughout the years. That is how much it will cost you to buy a Playstation 5 + TV + some quality game titles with next gen graphics
I mean A-list titles (that, let me remind you, cost developers hundreds of millions to make) like Gran Turismo or Fifa or Call of Duty retail for $59.99 (often on sale even at 1/2 price), which allows you to play it however you want at your FULL potential. Yes, they have some in-game purchases but those in-game purchases do not make you stronger or invinsible to others, they are more of a "collectable" vibe items. But in Hero Wars, unless you spend thousands, you have 0 chance of ever catching up to top guilds, which makes it somewhat pointless
If only they made it $49.99 or 59.99 or something. A normal upgrade system with no daily energy limitation (benefiting active players), normal requirements (not 7,500 violet + orange fragments needed to upgrade a single hero to Red; takes weeks to farm/buy for those who don't buy a ton of emeralds), I would have paid the price
Probably because customer service doesn't exist
It’s all automated. It’s terrible.
@@HeroWarsCentral hey man Raymond is living his truth 🦄
The game is just too damn expensive. I have to pay over $200 per month to enjoy it the way I want.
I wish I could show you how to enjoy it without spending that much
Its very expensive for people from india. I invested a bit this month for that totem or else hardly spend anything.
i spend 1euro for vip 1, and in my opinion you dont need more
Many online games cater to the whales because they pay the bills. But the endless power creep causes many people to slow down or stop playing as they can't afford the pay to win treadmill. Seen this happen time after time over the decades.
I give hero wars about 2 years before the crash and burn phase happens. Servers getting shut down and consolidated will be the first signs.
like teh game clash of king when i was playing to it, into 2018
It seems like they should be there already but they’re not. I feel like I’ve heard statements like this a hundred times in my 6 yrs playing
The one thing that hero wars is missing is a thought free PVO that you can just log into and play and spend time engaging the game purely for the joy of playing the game. After I do all of the daily quest stuff and any guild things I need to take care of, I find myself with a desire to play the game, but literally nothing left to do.
Unless you buy more resources. That’s the whole point of their system. Which is super unfortunate
I haven’t spent a cent on this game for years and my rank fell off the board but I started to enjoy it. U just play for fun without any pressure.
I have been playing HW mobile since summer of 2017. I spent just enough (couple dollars) to get VIP-1 for free raid....During pandemic when I was stuck at home, I thought about spending more but with most of pay-to-play/win players getting so quickly getting ahead of me, essentially it does not make any sense for me to spend couple dollar here and there. HW has become that you either spend lots money monthly or you might as well either quit or spend nothing at all. Well, I still enjoy playing it. It just makes no sense for me to spend any money at all. i.e. At my level of game play, spending a few dollars ain't going to make my game playing any more enjoyable or competitive.
I love the game, however it's way too expensive to make these in-game purchases. Do they think that people have that kind of money to drop on the prices they want...
people are moving back into real life since covid doesn't have them scared in a bottle.
people are sick of having to fight customer service to answer something. you can ask the same question 10 times, get 10 different half-assed responses from 10 different people - including some that contradict earlier responses. The best part... every single response turns out to be a lie.
No customers services, overpaying for in-games ressources without ANY return? I don't understand what went wrong
What resources are you referring to?
There ARE customer services, supported of course by bots. But they fixed my problem!
I believe that the quarterly report matches up with the timing of the announcement almost as if one could predict the other. It's verifiably visible at the anecdotal level that sales of Titan-based events and seasons are on the decline. We've seen multi-events to attempt to salvage interest, which spiked it early on through double-dipping opportunities, but which almost immediately began to flag. It was an all an indication of something very clear:
Your primary spenders no longer need to spend to be competitive in Titans. So, they don't. The economy is perceived by many to be in a downswing and only slowly moving out of it. This is generally bad for luxuries, and an app game qualifies as luxury/entertainment spending. So, when its primary spenders perceive that 1/2 of the game's content no longer requires them to invest heavily, they stop doing so, and the enthusiasm for overall spending in the game begins to flag. End result: Fewer buyers. Spending is up in part because of the sheer number of golden ticket items that those spending are still buying. However, the net is negative comparatively.
From the company's perspective, this is a time to test whether forcing a renewed competition amongst the buyers to remain at the top of the Titan hill is going to be enough to re-infuse spending into the game, increasing its profitability in 2025. In many respects, this was predictable and inevitable.
The scale of it 'seems' on the surface like it's too high, but logically it makes sense. By opening these floodgates wide and enabling 60+ levels and countless avenues for players to spend, thus giving them angles to try and outmaneuver each other, they're hoping that the natural competitiveness will win out and the open playing field will boost sales.
For me - the sight of it was just a head nod. "Ah, so this finally happened." And it is a big enough shift that I have to decide if continuing is a sunk cost fallacy for me. I'm allowing myself the Christmas season to determine how I feel about this change, as I don't plan to change my current spending habits. If I believe that the process of returning to peak performance (for me) is ultimately too much to deal with and too unpleasant without significant spending, there will be a time around January 1st where I wish all y'all well in your endeavors and fade off into that sunset while pretending that Artemis is still a badass and that they didn't trample all over her with Lara Croft. If I believe I can maintain managed expectations and enjoy myself, then I will stick around, though I think this might destroy my guild. We're a barely 6th place guild that took years of watching outsider whale guilds emerge in a small server to swipe the spot away from us with store-bought top-tier perfect teams and soldiered through to a bitter, constant battle right at the 6th spot. If this suddenly causes a net-rise of people who are purely casual re-configuring a silver guild to out-buy us (Realm of possibility), the guild might see a dip in membership and leaders might step down. It's going to depend on a couple of our silver guilds' positions. We shall see, we shall see.
Within the understanding that this is basically a predatory business model that I allow to siphon a portion of my personal entertainment budget with close monitoring by my spouse to make sure I don't overspend from within our budget, I don't hold them any ill will. I don't particularly like this business model, but it hits the dopamine receptors just right without causing me to over-invest time almost immediately like Sea of Conquest did (I literally cannot be trusted to play that game. 3 weeks in I saw the writing on the wall and I just had to step back and say "Nope, too fun. I will lose myself here. We're done.").
So, we'll see. Thanks for presenting the quarterlies, Charlie. Kind of confirmed what I assumed in actual dollars and ...uh, rubels?
I'm in the same position as you. I'll give myself until Jan 1 to see how I feel about the changes. I already dislike the Titan system and the changes seem like they will only make the imbalance of the Titan system much worse. On our server, 8 of the top 50 positions are held by players that have quit the game. There are really only 10 active guilds on our server and some of those are made up of inactive players or don't have a full roster. This was also the case on 2 other servers that I had alt teams.
If the owners are fed too much, the game/platform will bankrupt. But we still haven't breach the borders of the greed
Charlie, you mentioned you were a licensed financial analyst. So how comes you fall for a myth that the economy was better under he who should not be named (and thus, you expect it to be better again)
Economy works in cycles
Obama inherited a crisis (2008 crash for those who don't remember). Slowly but surely, the economy peaked up. The next president (again, we can't name him because we can't talk politics) inherited a better economy that was on an up trajectory already. It continued its upward trajectory thanks to the Central Bank's (an independent body that presidents don't have control of) monetary easing. Ultra low interest rates stimulated the economy
Thanks to one's awful handling of the pandemic, we had a supply shock, which combined with price gouging skyrocketed the inflation. In addition, the congress approved multi-trillion dollar measures, which both he who should not be named and Biden signed in their respective times, both contributing to the inflation. As a result, the Central Bank had no choice but to tighten the belt, which you have been experiencing these last couple of years
However, since the inflation cooled down (due to the Fed's tightening, which shrinked the demand), the Fed started lowering interest rates this year regardless of who was going to win the election.
Again, the Central Bank is an INDEPENDENT body. It is independent from the executive branch. Monetary policies are independent of who is in the White House
So this new monetary easing cycle will simply coincide with the next presidency, which will only make it APPEAR as though "he" is the one improving the economy
Just thought I needed to address this common myth, which got the one who should not be named re-elected
Too bad the majority of our country is illiterate and does not understand economics
rates almost at 0 for 20 years (from the 2000s to now), are the reason why many of you will lose everything, through hyperinflation... sooner or later someone has to pay the bill, if you print money at 0 as they did again after March 2020, sooner or later the house of cards will fall!
Please Keep the political talk out of my communities.
@@HeroWarsCentral Thanks for not deleting it though - It is relevant information, and educational.
losing CoW is a bad idea, would almost say add brackets - give guilds some kind of residual rank based on last season, and open clash to silver guilds
there are still no titan/totems tabs in the heroes menu (largest button in town square)
feel like area of conquest could lose a day or even two and possibly be a weekend only event so half the map isn't 90% afk
the chests from AoC are missing their russian doll roll, i feel like getting to the end of the awards list should net around 10Mg which is i think like level 20? so i'd say level 30 net around 20Mg, 40 = 40Mg, 50 = 80Mg, and not really for the gold because someone getting their castle to 50 doesn't need it but literally if they didn't change the loot in them at all beyond adding the russian doll (x2 reroll get as a drop) it would just scale up the amount of resources you can pump out for followthrough on a dominated event
💸⚔💸
dawns on me clash is sort of perfectly tiered already and considering the degree to which you gap your opponent directly determines your trophies received for victory. . .
bronze league:
- clouds on 2nd bridge (or it could be implied it doesn't exist yet like not built)
- only sun/moon doors, citadel, alchemy lab, and city hall
- 1 titan, 1 team attack
silver league:
- clouds on 1st bridge
- up to spring of elements (foundry/engineerium hidden)
- 2 titan 2 team attacks
gold league:
- as is

⚠final grievance - bro they said there would be opportunities to blue star lara in the future and like i was disappointed relics didn't carry over but you talmbout TWO* EMERALD ONLY** GACHA*** events within like a month of each other and it's been like 3 since or what? and anyway i think it was like 10% roll?? and i mean i threw a ten spin each time for no laras hearing people threw up like hundreds for 20 or 30 shards total seems sus af js frfr on ga 🚫🧢
@@eveillandersonyeah, it's a joke about getting her soul stones... Have to keep paying and only get a few each time. It's not worth charging after the soul stones. Too much cost and not enough payout for the final completion...2 years down the road...?
Come January Trump will ad 20 percent tariffs on Hero Wars too.
I'm done, HW is pay to pay more now. I disagree with the slow decline statement, I think there will be an inflection point once the player base really starts to look at how much they have to spend per month to remain competitive. Here's an idea - what would happen if all the gold guilds stopped spending for one month?
Having played for almost 6 years I’ve seen this exact statement 100s of times. I don’t you’re completely wrong but most new players are simply too oblivious to the cost
Wow, thanks and great work in covering this aspect. Am in finance but it is only a game so i never thought to look further lol. Have had no other games in years but somehow got pulled into this one lol.
Most people don’t want to hear about stuff like this but it’s important to me because if there’s no game then there’s no traffic. And if there’s no traffic then RUclips doesnt pay me 😏😂
It looks Nexter is not knowing how to balance prices on the game. In the past you could maximize heroes without putting money. It would take way longer but that's the trade off. The only way to max out latest heroes is only put lots of money on it and that's probably disengaging people from playing.
Could be. I think what’s actually happening is that they’re testing spending habits of their players and they’ve gone too far.
People didn't have as much expendable income, period. When we have less "flash money" because most of our income is being spent on rent, utilities and food, we have less to spend on games. As a business owner, my orders have shot up since election day. That means I as a player have more to spend on "fun" such as Hero Wars. Dropped some cash on the 5 x emeralds this week as a result and will continue doing so for as long as the orders I receive continue to increase.
Seems like there's some anomaly, rather than a decline. Pretty flat over 4 Qs, then a drop of 16%? Must be some underlying cause which isn't "user experience" or "players fatigue", which will impact over a longer stretch of time.
It’s possible bc it’s an election year? The lead up until November I feel like everyone just holds their breath
id love to even see an emerald times 5 event
Oh dear oh dear. Going in the way of Angry birds eh. That game was iconic until it went to the film industry and then broke itself. Hero Wars was fine until it became a $1.15bn stock token that went to Japan. I think moving to Cyprus might to be a little too late for anything. For the first time ever, it isn't the players fault, it was an idea that went wrong. If this is a 2 year projectory, hopefully they can turn this one around
According to recent report, trading has been halted, stocks are frozen as they are going to see a massive revamp next year.
love the video! you knowledge about it is worth to share it!
This is entirely predictable. When they cater to whales then the whales will pay more, but it hurts everyone else. Hence bookings per paying user have gone up, but paying users have gone down because many C2P players have recognised they will never be able to compete again and decided to quit or go F2P.
Im not even trying to sound negative. Im a very positive person actually, but I truly feel they deserve this. I would love to hear an argument for this....i have all day lol.
1 year. The way they keep coming up with events which usually did every once every 2-3 months these days, esp the 5x emerald
So they have been getting moderate to large spenders to spend more, while turning small spenders away, is how I read those figures. This is definitely not the time to be chasing after whales and forsaking minnows. They need to chase the minnows by bringing low-spend, high-value propositions back into the game. Where are those $19 Totem Seasons?
i have a legit question and I apologize if this is not allowed. I am thinking of quitting. Been playing for 4 years now...got a nice set of heroes...but I can spend my time doing better things like working out etc.
Can I sell my account to someone else? if so, how?
Is that why they keep releasing so much stuff, they're bleeding players and they're trying to squeeze out whatever they can from whoever is left? I thought it was a growing game tbh, but maybe not that many are into it because of the whales.
They keep releasing because players are buying.
Thanks Charlie, great summary.
They never update the game neither and it’s making money already…
hope so as this game is falling down the tubes
if there operation costs have remained stable then why all the inflation in prices, the main problem is these game devs live in fantasy worlds
they act as if they have actual physical products with workers in some kind of fantasy mines some where mining emeralds/gold & they have some sort of intrinsic value..
if anything they should be actually discounting everything in the game to promote spending but instead they choose to just straight up BS.. all bundles, promos, Rarity Fair, Secret Wealth = ripoff, even the shops..
ex is it that necessary to sell a bottle of energy for 300 emeralds, so if they sold it for 150 would it bankrupt them no !
but most players are just purely addicted, Nexters know's it & they are exploiting it by following ancient old tactics.. get the Sucker's !
the more they can drag players on then the more they can BS share holders, that's it that's all, all recent updates confirm it & it doesn't take a genius to figure it all out..
Therre was talk of selling merchandise. An obvious piece of merchandise would be t-shirts. Surprised they haven't done that yet.
They yell at me everytime I try!
Msg me if you want to buy my charcter - VIP 15, not that it matters cause VIP7 is the max you need for bonuses
Thx Charlie
Titans are boring.
i certainly hope not
One of the best games i've played in ages.
I think its because of the skyrocketing prices of bills, rent, food etc
Yep 100%
