Love it. This is what my Unit evolved into when I retired in 2009.

Thanks for your question@@interestedparty497 In the 1980's Congress put money into a Minesweeping Program called Craft of Opportunity. There were nearly 3 dozen Navy Units across the country.
It was born from a need during the end of the cold war. In November of 1990 Congress signed into Law a Base Closure and Realignment Act that had these Units closing down.
Coming off my initial hitch in the Navy in '92 I signed up for the Reserves, unwittingly into one of these Units.
Long story short ..... we went from small black RHIB boats to 27 foot aluminum hull twin diesel combat boats to 34 foot Sea Ark boats you see in this video.
They've been loaded up on container ships and onto C-130's and the like ever since ---- to destinations all over the Middle East.
Once I complete my basic training in the US Navy, can I choose to work in that unit? I am not a citizen.

There are no restrictions on who can be assigned to that kind of unit .

@@MBG224 Yes, I want to, but for US Navy jobs I can't find that option online, and that is my dream unit.
@@andriraynaldoescalonaroas1850yes you can. Choose MA as your rating when you enlist and request orders to MESF when you’re in “A” school. That’s the best route to joining this squadron.

if you've never served in any of the 5 Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) then it's understandable you won't have a true appreciation of what's happening here.
You're right. Why didn't they actually use live rounds? Or why don't they just get to theater without having training evolutions so they don't know how to maneuver the boat? They should listen to you. I'm sure you've led TONS of ops. Must be a full bird as matter a fact, keyboard warrior.
