Excellent video - thank you so much for taking the time to completely show the difficulty you had (8:50 - 16:20) and what you tried 🥳 When you are at home doing this kind of job, it's this stuff that you really need to see and to see what other people do to solve the problem. 🤯
This is a funny video !!!!! I love it !!!I didn't believe the strap may or was not the greatest way to do it but after trying with few adapters on the slide hammer and scraping my knuckles, I tried the strap with a comealone attached from the strap to the bumper of another car with some tenttion and a few pulls with the slide hammer, there it goes!!!!I got it out !.. Thanks for the great idea !!!!!
Had a few euro vehicles for CV axles come through my bay. The Volvo was the one I almost resigned myself to calling a dealer, but I tried Fisher Auto Parts. They had it for me next day and at a fraction of dealer cost
currently have a country man with this same god damn issue! i have a lift however with no way to really tension the shit out of a strap other than a giant crowbar. just about to tell this guy to take it to Mini!
Regarding when replacing with an aftermarket cv shaft, you mentioned the length needs to be at least 25.5 inches...is that when the shaft is compressed or stretched? Maybe the oem quoted length is measured when shaft is streched. I checked a number of brand aftermarket shafts online and they are all 2-3 inches short (left & right side). I don't think all these non oem could be wrong. Why would they keep making them short year after year? If so these manufacturers would loose their shirt on returns. Or maybe they are engineered to work with short lengths. There must be a good explanation.
I found my part on partsgeek.com the correct size the first time. you can always try Rockauto.com as well but Partsgreek.com for mini I would go to first.

i ran into this same issue. Ended up welding a bolt across the cup and got it with a slide hammer. worked great. lol
Nice! Oh that feeling when it finally broke loose! We all have days like that! The struggle is real!
Yes it was
Thank you, the ratchet strap method worked, I tied it to the lift post, (had to do it in a angle), and hit the axle cup lip hard with a large chisel.
I'm glad it worked. Its a very difficult one to pull out.
Glad you finally got that axle hub out man.

Good Video I Really Enjoyed All 22 Minutes
Helps, but I have to replace transfer case bearing.
Both of my cv axles are stuck and I have nothing to anchor strap.😢

Idk why but. I tried with every part store and they were all short.
I got mines out with a 36in crow bar the sharp turn end (fwd axle puller from O'Reilly's waste of money)
I agree
did you use the duralast one from autozone?
No i didn't. They are to short.
@@JaboTheMechanic which brand did you use?
