The Finnish Equestrian Federation has announced that Henri Ruoste has been officially selected as their individual representative in dressage at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
the Finnish Olympic Committee's Top Sports Unit selected Ruoste as one of five new Finnish athletes for the Tokyo Olympic team. The selection was confirmed by the Board of the Olympic Committee on 9 March 2021.
Aboard the Danish warmblood gelding Rossetti (by Romanov x Midt West Ibi Light), Ruoste secured an individual spot in dressage for Finland in 2019.
Ruoste has two horses as Tokyo potentials: Rossetti and his own and Jochen Arl's Belgian warmblood Kontestro DB (by Contendro x Cassini II), the only Grand Prix horse he has been competing since February 2020. Two weeks ago, Ruoste and Kontestro DB achieved a Finnish Kur record score of 81.265% at the CDI Doha.
"It is certainly every athlete’s dream to represent their own country at the Olympics," Ruoste stated. "It’s definitely a special experience that comes up maybe only once in a lifetime. For me personally, it’s a really big deal, and many, many years of work have been gone before it."
The German based Finnish rider continued, "the Olympic representation will certainly bring more enthusiasm and motivation, and hopefully also interest of a larger audience in dressage. At the same time, we are working hard in the sport to have a dressage team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It’s a long way to go, but everyone is really motivated to work for it."

Lots of negative comments about this beautiful horse's movement as if it was forced. Many horses have big, floating movement. Should this rider try to change this horse's way of going to a flatter more "natural" movement even though it isn't natural to this horse at all. This horse looks relaxed and tuned into his rider. Absolutely quiet tail. No cranking or wringing.
Very nice ride overall. Certainly much more deserving of an Olympic spot than many others.. Horse was noticeably getting tired by the end of the ride, but still offered more than many other horse and rider combos at the beginning of their rides and without excessive spurring, etc...
Beautifully ridden, soft quiet hands and such an elastic horse. Good lucky hope you win.
Good joke
Really nice job and the music was fantastic!! Best of luck‼️
Beautifully done! Gorgeous horse.
Go Henri & Konsta 🇫🇮 That's how you do it!
Oot kusipäisin ihminen
Henri is such an interesting rider. He really knows how to show off his horses’ strengths. He has always given a bit of a ‘Carl Hester’-impression to me.
So sad Kontesdro lost his cool in Tokyo but it showed the amazing skills of Henri to make it through the test ands grab what ever mark he could such a beautiful rider
He is just showing out. Literally dancing. Fantastic
I saw him in the olympics. I didn't know until now how beautiful this sports is 😊 I know nothing about horses but they are so fascinating!
He is one of my favs
Wowza! I am no expert but definitely impressed at the collaboration. Scores of course are important but I think I would prize most The relationship between the two.
The moment of suspension!!!! each time too. A good ride.
Holy heck, single tempe changes on a circle!
Hello, do you have videos of what trully dressage is? Like videos of learning dressage for riders and judges? Or you know any good channels for that?
Looks like i'm still learning; for me, the horse seems though (not like in pain but not confortable in doing the movements) and the rider seems to hold too much the reins.
This is a great horse that manages to still move well in spite of incorrect riding.
ArttoRide on RUclips hands down best information on starting horses classically. This saved my Ottb thoroughbred life back in the day. My trainer I was a working student for used those methods and I never had met a trainer since until I found ArttoRide.
@@tropicaoptica Thanks!
Maria Eduarda R A Silva they have tons of videos. Good ones to watch especially are of Will riding or schooling. Check out the series on the horse Bailador by searching in their channel. But I literally started from the very first video of theirs and moved forward from there. Incredible stuff. They are doing so much good things for all horses not just dressage horses. These foundational principles are crucial for all disciplines, even trail riding where it is very important for our horses to have strong cores and backs.
First thing is to understand that dressage is really just another word for training.
Find a GOOD instructer to start you from basics, your basics sooooo important. Video's are great, but actuall riding and starting the correct way is the best money you can ever spend. Good luck, 71 and still learning after 40 years. Listen to all sorts of rider's and be open to all sorts of opinions and methods.
Just wow !
Top! 🇫🇮
Oh WOW. JUST PRANCING
Wow. Horse's mouth was closed during the test. Probably the only one there. 👏
Just so Constant, team work makes the dream work.
🇫🇮 Best wishes for Tokio. Hope he gets a chance for the freestyle.
Wow, rarely do you see modern dressage horses with as much hind leg elevation in the passage as the front.
Yeah it has almost turned into a gaited horse spectacle.
@@tropicaoptica I wouldn't say that at all. It very much keeps the purity of its gaits in spite of its heightened movement. That's not usually the case. He looks like a naturally huge mover, not one that's been artificially created.
Thought I was watching a national show horse. Still not a fan of the flashy extravagant movers. What's w the super hyper hind leg action with no hind end lowering
NICELY
How do you judge something like that? They all look the same
So this is what we want now a days? Half a hackney, and to finish it off from canter to piaffe? Isn't that what we used to call circus dressage ?
This is exactly what dr. Reiner Klimke warned for when freestyle became a competition.
from Tempis to 2 time changes .....wow !!!!!
Deserves a much higher score
👌
Too much exaggerated movement. Dressage used to be natural and elegant now it's all about high stepping.
It’s amazing what rollkur can do to a hot horse with natural abilities. Too bad he’s being totally destroyed in the process and people applaud this crap. This horse could be so much more than he ever will be. Such a shame.
@@tropicaoptica Do you have any proof the rider uses esoteric methods? None of his ring riding suggests that, which is hard to fake.
@@tropicaoptica Having seen Henri train his horses, I can assure you he does not use rollkur, and is always telling his trainees to keep the horses' heads s up as possible and not to let them 'curl to a ball'. Konsta is a magnificent horse with large movement, has a slight tendency to 'shorten his neckline', thus making it look like he's been trained with rollkur. Please quit trying to make people look like shit.
The shoulder degree or slope dictates the leg motion. Developers would had made his movements mechanical if over used.
Русские вы тут? Мне очень понравились движения коня
I'm all for Canada 🇨🇦 🐴
Canada has two travelling reserves and everyone else has one so I think they are planning for lame horses
@@DressageHub oh no 😢
@@DressageHub thanks
@@DressageHub I don't quite understand why ?
@@DressageHub it is what it is
The head should be more free.
The horse is terribly sunken in the back, and I find it a little rolled up. And his legs are very tangled. My opinion.
I would like to see a more defined piaffe than the horse simply prancing in place. Otherwise, Kontestro was calm and relaxed. His movement is showy, but I can tell it is not forced … which I commend. An overall good ride.
Nobody else 🌍
