Underwater mines really scare me idk why they just look unsettling EDIT: i now know why, its called submechanophobia but i only get it from naval mines idk why
Oh my gosh, same for me! I don't even live near water but I hate them with a passion. Was curious though that's why I looked it up again...yup, still scared and heavily grossed out by them.
You should have said that 1/3rds of all the sea mines produced between 1907 and ~1960 (not sure when the production stopped), were produced on a small island of Nargo, Estonia, or also know as Naissaar in Estonian, meaning the island of women. You can visit and explore the bunkers there even now days, and there are some 5000 mine shells there still left to see.
The British mined many of their own sea lanes, but mostly at depths which would not affect ships. They caught a few subs trying to come close to ports. It didn't occur to the Germans that the British would mine their own waters, when the Royal Navy ruled the waves. :-)
nice video, but a little tip for your editing, feather your masks and for your animations, make the keyframes with an ease ease velocity, if you're using ae. you can simply press ctrl+a to selcet all layers, press "u" to show all keyframes, press crtl+a once again, to select all keyframes, and then press F9 :)
72,000 mines to sink 6 u-boats or 12,000 mines each. That's worse than the kill-per-bullet count from Vietnam. And these were mines, which I'm pretty sure are fairly expensive.
For a few reasons, but mostly for search capabilities. Also because thanks to the RUclips algorithm, not all of our fans saw the original doc. We’ve got each part coming out this week so that if people want to learn about a specific part when searching without watching an 18 min video, they can 🙂👍🏻
@Nicolas Miret It has nothing to do with communism. I don't even live in China. There are many books on the past Chinese inventions that changed the world.
Glad I could be of service! The finding Nemo mines are old MK5 moored mines. The little nubs coming off of them were filled with chemicals. When one was broken by a ship or sub, the chemicals would mix, creating an electrical charge - setting off the mine.
I’m watching movie “MacArthur” (1977) right now, and 20 mins in there was a sea mine scene… I was wondering how accurate is the depiction of Japanese military using sea mines in WW2.
I fr looked up "underwater balloons from finding nemo" at 4:26 am cuz I got curious
