No one way is going to work for everyone. Thanks for sharing some 'different' ideas about how to approach forehand shots. ;-)

My son is 4.5 and has been throwing minis since he was about 2 and even started throwing normal sized discs recently. He swears by his own 3 finger grip and it's hilarious he's always trying to teach people to throw with the 3 finger grip! 😂

Thanks, but I have to correct you: I have no sense of humor.

As someone who has extremely small hands and NO forehand whatsoever, this gives me something to practice this weekend.

Seems like a band aid solution which FPO Madison Walker also has found helpful.

1 finger flinger here! Not conventional, but works for me.

So it's like a forehand fan grip - useful for controlled approach shots. Is it the "optimal" or "best" grip? Maybe not, but you don't use only one grip for every shot type anyways - so it can be just another tool in the bag.

I like the analogy! Fan grip of forehand. Yeah!

    Interesting.
When I first saw someone throw with one finger, I thought, “He would probably throw better with two.” But no. He threw harder with one than most people do with two. I think Anthony Barella throws with one finger, and we know how hard he throws.
So a controllable short flick for people with really no flick? Or more accuracy with three fingers for some people? I guess it is something to experiment with if you can’t throw and/or control a two finger.
By the way, seeing that clip of you playing in 2010 was cool. Is the desire to emulate you the reason today’s Finnish players seem to throw so many good sidearm approaches? 😎

Yeah, the sidearm grips seem to be a field of witchcraft. There really is no right answers!

Just FYI, AB uses the forehand "powergrip". Which can probably look like just one finger at times :)

My bad. I'm not sure why I though it was AB. It's Andrew Marwede. He has a pretty awesome forehand himself.
