That team was so talented
People forget how good Jermaine O’Neal Was cuz he had allot of injuries. His Prime was only 6 Seasons out of a long 20 year career.
For r
Og
@@seanmcbrearty1365 well he sat on the bench for 4 years after coming out of high school
The Pistons and their fans ruined it. I hate the Pistons. I hate Isaiah Thomas and whole history of that dirty franchise and city.
Respect to Reggie Miller
Reggie Miller was a great player, with a awesome shooting skills.
Took Jordan's Bulls to Game Seven!
Yes, and he eliminated my Knicks and talked trash, had beef with damn jordan, etc 👍🏼
Reggie could have won a chip if it weren't for that malice in the palace.
Commissioner David Stern sat there with his wife, surviving heart attack and stroke in closed loop.
The NBA was way too easy on Detroit but brought the hammer against Indy.
@@paulthomasmiller1842 well if you're looking at results then maybe but based solely on the actions of each individual player I'd disagree. There's no way Ben Wallace could have predicted getting in a fight would have caused a brawl. But Stephen Jackson was continuing to instigate and chose to fight fans. Idk if Jermaine O'Neal deserved as much as he got. Artest and Jackson no doubt had it coming. It's a shame though, that game was done. Just sit the starters and run out the clock!
@@gen4john660 Detroit's security guards did NOTHING to protect the players.
Stern came down like that because of Bird's involvement with the pacers
Even though they had beef, O’Neil still had Arrtest back in Detroit lol
Facts. The best Pacer Team we had. Especially once we picked up S. Jackson
And stephen jackson was a dumb loser
Back when defense won games. Should've sicked Ben Wallace on them sooner.
Exactly
😂😂😂 Ben was Finna fawk Ron up
Yep Ben was best low post defender NOT Jermaine... Wasn't even close Reggie
Yes they had a squad but they weren't getting past the pistons who went to the finals back to back to the finals
@@TerryByrdJr I agree that Ben would win that fight but you're kidding yourself if you think it would be a walk in the park, I would legit pay good money to see that shit.
HOW CAN ANYONE HATE REGGIE MILLER??? WELL OFCORSE THIS QUESTION EXCLUDES ALL NY KNICKS FANS!!!…..💯💯💯
Jermaine O'NEAL was the coolest, nicest Celebrity I have ever met and I have met a lot of them waiting tables.
I agree. Those pacers were a team of great chemistry and supreme confidence. They had a great system. Great coaching. Miss those days of intensity.
Great chemistry? He just got done saying they kept arguing about who's team it was😆
That ‘04-‘05 squad was going to be special that year.
Jermaine O'Neal and Ron artest beefing inside the locker room had to be funny
Well being that I’m Ron brother. I can say that it wasn’t.
@@TheArtestEffect are you for real world peace brother? I bet you got stories lol
How would it be funny? In what way?
@@TheArtestEffecthow’s Ron’s son your nephew doing? And is Ron a 5 percenter?
Reggie basically said y'all chill out play defense I'll score it
😥 sad...you didn't fail Reggie they did. You're the greatest Pacer that ever played the game in history. That team could have easily gave Reggie a championship just like Gary Payton, Steve Smith, and Mitch Richmond as he was closing his career. The team from 03 to 05 was probably one of the top 5 teams in the league at the time. The 05 season was the season that never was. We started 11-2 with Reggie sitting in the bench healing from hand surgery. Imagine what would have happened when he returned? Smh..this man goes ona list of the greatest players that ever played with no ring all because of immature team mates.
I like how Reggie took accountability as the senior player. Shows how mature he is and that he doesn’t make excuses for himself
@GoGetYourShinebox Reggie is not responsible for grown ass men. He got Jermaine right when he came but Ron was just doing mental therapy for his issues. He was a ticking time bomb and all over the place if he wasn't playing basketball. Dude was trying to start a record label after throwing the season previous. Stephen Jackson wanted to be on some thug shit and Jermaine was tired of both of them. People forget Jermaine came in the league when Kobe did. He had become a mature veteran. He took not helping Reggie or himself getting a championship the worse. It took him years to forgive Ron. He was able to change way later in his career and get one with Kobe. White Jermaine had to look on. Reggie tried to get them to co exist but they all wanted to be leaders. Prior to 03-04 everyone on the team knew it was now Jermaines team and Reggie Miller knighted him. Ron and Stephen Jackson was the only two dummies who didn't wanna hear that. Plus the Pacers also fired Isiah Thomas which was karma based. Had Isiah been there that Mele wouldn't have happened. Most maybe Ron ticked everything else would have been under control.
Jermaine O'Neal was absolutely not a better post defender than Ben Wallace
This is why Reggie Miller is so beloved in the state of Indiana. Reggie loved Indiana and did everything he could to win for this state.
He gave out the clear reason why it didn't work when he said it's neither of yalls team, it's not even my team. That doesn't work. It has to be someones, and Reggie should have simply made it his team. That's what that team needed. Leadership. A clear alpha and leader.
Gotta agree with you that’s when you need a guy to take the Kobe mental and tell other guys to listen tf up
That BIG brawl with the crowd brought them together lol
Reggie Miller doesn't get enough credit he was a phenomenal basketball player and he deserves to have a a championship. We've been great to see him play with Chicago he definitely would have won multiple championships
Trying to teach knuckleheads is like trying to herd cats.
A fool’s errand.
As a Pacers fan from Indianapolis in the 90's, this team from my Senior year in High school 2004, will always be a High "What-If" for me!
They needed a leader like Drill Instructor Sergeant Jordan.
Growing up as a Bulls fan i never liked Reggie but now as an adult looking back I wish he would have gotten at least one. Seems like a really kind genuine down to earth guy.
That's what they get for getting rid of Isaiah Thomas for Rick Carlisle they tried to get Rick Carlisle a championship and it backfired
The season artest did that bullshit was the year that him and O’Neal were probably going to be in their primes together and that would of lasted just till 07 and they were looking good in the first 7 games that 04 season, they beat the fuck out of Detroit
Jermaine was there to throw blows with Ron during the Malice at the Palace tho 😂😂
This pacers team was top 2 in the the east for least 4 straight years Shaq and Kobe was scared of them back then
THEY SURE WERE GETTING ALONG WHEN THEY BEAT UP THE FANS IN THE PALICE🤣🤣
I will always have deep and profound love for Uncle Reggie as a person and athlete. He is one of the best.
Music makes me feel I’m watching some sort of murder mystery
That is so sad. They have no one to blame but themselves.
They had a squad!! I remember Ron pulled Paul Pierce's shorts down lol n Pierce was balling. My Celtics vs pacers were always exciting to watch artest was one of my fave players too great era.
As a pistons fan I was always worried about the the pacers during that time.
I agree with Reggie. I really wanted to see him get a chip. Yet I respect the fact that he stayed a Pacer until he retired, which makes him a champ in my book.
I can still recall the crowds chanted: "One more year! One more year! One more..."
referring to jermaine o’neal as the best low post defender while ben wallace was in the league is craaaazy
Reggie deserved a championship!!
I used to be in Vegas. Got into a conversation with O’Neal about this once. He said the same thing. But said that after the “Malice in the Palace” it was all blown up no matter what.
Indiana's Lesson was Chicago's blessing
This team with Steven Jackson had so much talent wow...
Reggie was like the player-coach of the Pacers that time. I really do feel for him. He wanted to win a 'chip yet at the same time he wanted Ron & Jermaine to co-exist together but both of them just act like kids, especially Ron.
It’s crazy cause Jermaine slide those lil fat guys for Artest at Malace at the palace
Artest cost you a Championship Reggie
What year was!!
@@richardmccall7479 It was in 2004.
Don't do that Artest won DPOTY in Indiana he made an All Star game in Indiana he was balling in Indiana
Now if you referring to the brawl that's not his fault cause idc what job I got you throw beer on me then you must wanna fight. Them fans was way out of line and got what they deserved
@@assalt18 if you remember correctly it was the foul on Ben ignited the brawl.
@@tonybrown6496 that's certainly not what ignited the brawl. The referees lack of control is what ignited it
Reggie made sure to add “anymore” after my team 😂
They had a hell of a team that could have won a championship and got close ..
Wow! I had never heard about this rift between Ron Artest and Jermaine O'Neal.
It’s a shame the Pacers never got a championship for Reggie he deserved one !! I’m not sure they will ever win one ! As a diehard Pacer fan it’s sad !! 😔
Reggie Miller took a tall cup of cold beer over his head for Artest 😅
Could have been one of the most successful teams of all time but for so long the pacers have been plagued with team issues.
Reggie was like "fool I'm the offense, just play D"
That 04-05 pacers squad was primed for a championship sad that the palace incident had to happen
Reggie must have forgotten Garnett, Duncan, Dirk, Weber, Wallace were all better than O'Neil
What's crazy is O'Neal wasn't even that big and was a monster with the low pist defense.
I REMEMBER THAT TEAM WAS SOLID
Ben Wallace never got enough credit for being the biggest punk in the Palace. He was far and away more responsible for what happened than any one else .
Gone are the days when players actually play defence.
The Malice at the Palace destroyed them. They were the best team in the east and a legitimate title contender until that fateful night. Gone in a flash
Reggie out here talking about how those pacers squads could have beat Kobe and Shaq plzzzzz
Jealousy destroys teams and friendships.
If coach put me in, we would have won state!
Man this is interesting. I didn’t really follow the story when it happened, too much going on in my life to care about at the time, but there is something pretty big about this. My dad was a criminal when he was younger with a lot of fight in him. He turned to Jesus when he was in his late 20’s before I was born and his life turned around but he was still a fighter and still is. We all know someone who is a fighter through and through and there is something truly special about those people but it can be turned to tremendous evil or tremendous good. If you don’t have much fight in you then sometimes the impact you make in a situation is just less. A fighter tends to make an impact. All that said, I’m looking at this crazy world and all the drama and sort of realizing that a lot of men just don’t know what is truly worth fighting for but they still fight. Fighters need something good to fight for in this life if you are hearing me, and it matters what fight you stir up in people. If you don’t get what I’m saying don’t worry about it, you probably aren’t a fighter. What I’m sort of getting at is I have more hope for people that cause problems and do stupid crap because they NEED a fight. I’m a fighter too and I’m starting to get it.
They came together that night in Detroit
A House divided cannot stand.
He's right, but even with all that they mightve still gotten one of it not for the Malice
I totally agree with Reggie on that. He could've still won a ring in 08 when the Celtics approached him to play.
Indiana Pacers best player! Miller was dedicated and loyal to his Team.
Metta was a beast. He was so good that Mamba brought him to La. Metta arrived on the west coast and went get that Chip. LAKERSFORLIFE!!!!
I remember that team. Ron artes is the one that messed that team up, not Jermaine O'Neal
U c how at the end he sighed and said " we had a helluva team"...he meant that
Should have invested in a shrink for Artest as soon as he was drafted....then you could have at least 4 rings...
These be the conversations that be so full of s***. What most people don't understand about sports is you were the greatest guy until you went to the next level. It is hard to explain to people why they have to sit in the backseat for someone else when they've been the man their whole life.
Defense Wins Championships 👊🏽
Thats one of the low points of being a veteran on a young squad
He was the one who told Ron to foul Ben back after last year. That’s why I don’t understand how Ben got mad when the year before he was doing so much dirty stuff to that team
Crabs in a barrel Mentality that's what reggie miller couldn't understand
I never knew there was a time back then when the Pacers werent Reggie's team. None of those young pups shoukd have thought that they can out-pace Reggie in the respect dept.
that time Pacers was the scariest team in the league potential was off the charts
With the amount of fame and money young players in the NBA get because of their scoring or highlights, it's almost impossible to get them thinking about defense or getting less PPG but win a few more games.
Facts... I think they win that year if that fight doesn't happen with Detroit and who knows what that means going forward
They had a squad man
Reggie, you NEVER failed us!
No championships. Too many bricklayers. Same as the Knicks during that time.
I’ll never forget that year… the pacers had all the right pieces & Reggie had even turned down an opportunity with the Lakers around 2000…
What could’ve been…
This Pacers team pissed me off because they had so much talent.Reggie could have had at least one if Artest and O'Neal put their differences aside and were team first.
They should have definitely won at least one chip but The Malice in the Palace ended all that sh!t.
Couldn’t come together for a “SHIP” but for a “SEASON SUSPENSION “ it was a guaranteed GO smh!!!!
I didn't know that they had beef. The way JO had Ron's back during the malice in the palace I thought that they were cool.
One of the most underrated duo ever!!! Damn what could of been
I met Jermaine in AAU nationals down in Winston Salem NC in the summer of 95’. Me and a teammate, and he and a teammate of his were about to bust a domino’s delivery drivers ass lol. Idk if he’ll remember that, but I did. Cool ass dude.
If he would have made that lay up that T’ Prince blocked 😅 seriously doubt he’d be reminiscing with remorse
I guess he forgot Jordan was on the Bulls 😂😂😂😂
Got bad when you expected Reggie Miller to be the mediator between Jermaine and Artest. For what it’s worth Reggie was never that type of leader and it should have never been expected from him. The Pacers put the most talented, aggravating people around him but more than likely expected him to pull it all together. They couldn’t win a championship before that because of the Chicago Bulls, it was never Reggie’s fault nor should have it been his job to be a hall monitor.
Team was otw to win it all before malace in the palace. That was our year. We were stacked!
Absolutely. And I watched every game those years. Reggie you dont have to explain none of that to me I already know. Young fools and they are realizing this and they have to live with it as well. How about Tinsley being so talented and his lack of immaturity sure didnt help either.
That 05 team was the team best suited to beat San Antonio in the Finals. Sad the way they forced Reggie to go out.
Never beating the Spurs lol.
No match for Duncan. Period
He figured it out with 24
DEFINITELY AND I'M FROM DETROIT STILL WANTED TO SEE REGGIE GET AT LEAST ONE!💯
It's crazy how these dudes THINK the teams belong to them! It's the OWNERS TEAM !
His sister was also great . 2 x NCAA champion, Olympicgold medalist and a hall of famer . Just she was the older sister and was 15 to 20 years too early before WNBA was around . Arguably better then her brother Reggie when comes to skill .
The only thing that stood in their way to winning a Championship was Kobe.
I domt
Think ether one of them was better defender than ben thats my optionion
