@@nwandoesimai7699 Hello, there's zero noise from upstairs. There are no kids in the building and there's a bit of soundproof so I never really hear anything.
You have a very decent basement. The owner of the house definitely put a lot of thought and consideration into making it liveable. Most basements don't look like that. And also, your decor is so warm, cozy and lovely.
In Modern Living Room Everyone Using "SoundProof Curtains" That Stops Outside Noise by 80% (25 Db) Tested. Check Here: livesoundproof.com/best-soundproof-curtains/
Basement apartments are often hit and miss. You luckily got a recently renovated apartment with upgrades in appliances. Most rentals are not this nicely equipped. I believe the reason your kitchen window is so large is that it is the emergency exit if there is a fire or your main entrance is blocked for some reason. Otherwise most windows are usually the same size as your bedroom window. Landlords who live in the building are generally more caring about the apartment they rent out and keep on top of repairs - generally. Your have a lovely apartment.
Great insights, you're absolutely correct. Everything was brand new when I moved in and the landlords definitely set the place up with love. Thanks for watching!
I too live in a basement apartment where the landlord put a lot of thought into the decor and it is a comfortable as some pricy condos. You have made it your home and it is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing. My thoughts for those who are considering basements: - Ensure there is a return air vent in the apartment, else avoid. - Never rent where a house is at the bottom of a hill or slope due to potential flooding. - Always have a working carbon monoxide detector in your apartment as you'll be in close proximity of the furnace. - Ensure there is an accessible window in the apartment for safety reasons. - Remember you have no control over the heating and cooling. So the space maybe hotter or cooler than desired.
Such cute basement. The Landlord is very thoughtful and considerate of the people to live in the space. I love how cozy and warm it is. Cutest basement I have ever seen here😍

I live downtown Toronto as well. I stumbled across this and watched every second! I lived in a basement apartment at yonge and bloor and loved it. It was just a little too cold in the winter.... but was really affordable for the amount of space! Keep up the great work! You’re really going to help a lot of people with these types of videos :)
I live in a basement apartment too! East York. I love where I live. The key to living well in a basement apartment is making it cozy, finding a place with big windows/lots of windows, bright WARM lighting and a CO alarm.
This is amazing.... It actually helped put visuals to what a basement apartment looks like. Thanks to you and your husband for welcoming us into your home. (but you didn't offer us water and kolanut oooo, lol) Safety Tip: (If you can) The Fire Extinguisher is best placed above the kitchen utensils, probably suspended on the wall (away from obstructions). This is according to safety code for locating FEs.
The place looks great. So well-appointed. Can't believe you can just film without special lighting - a testament to the white paint bouncing all those pot lights around. I lived in some pretty dingy Toronto basements BITD, so I truly appreciate your home. Thanks for sharing it with us.

This is so beautiful, wow 👏 😍 💖 well done for this. Demystifying the basement living and minimalism. Wanted to join the train but my spending habit won't let me be great at minimalism
Love the video... the basement is clean and beautiful. Wondering if the landlord have a separate entrance for the laundry room... I didn't see another door.
Just a piece of trivia: Quartz countertops are nice looking, but they're cheaper for a reason: they can't stand heat nor acidic substances, so you can't (shouldn't) really use it to put any object (pans, jars or food containers) that's come out of the oven/stove recently and you should also be very careful with food preparation, because some foods that release acidic substances can stain the countertop if not cleaned immediately. Granite is much more resistant in that sense, thus also more expensive.
I totally agree. While Quartz is being heavily advertised right now and looks really pretty, I prefer Granite to Quartz. I only like Quartz for the looks. Lol
Nice Feyi...I have been living in basements since I got here...my current one is huge ! Got painted before I came in and it's pretty decent even though it's an old house but I love the space ! I know spaces can make you buy unnecessary stuff but am careful !
