As a Portuguese diver and sommelier I'm really happy to see you diving and tasting Portugal.
Saúde!
We are big fans of Portugal. Going to the Azores this summer.
@@BlueWorldTV You will love it. I'm going there in April. In the summer I'm going to Mariana for cave cert with Edd.
Thank you very much for all the content. Me, my wife and daughter are great fans and we are veeeery happy with all the episodes in PT.
The difference in taste (if there really is one) is unlikely to be from sea water getting through the "amorphous glass." More likely it's due to the effect of filtered sunlight illuminating the wine for several hours a day.
That is an interesting point. Depending on the depth the rays of light begin to disappear. Curious if certain wave lengths effect wine more than others 🧐
I had not thought of that.
@@souswes "Curious if certain wave lengths effect wine more than others."
That would be an excellent hypothesis on which to do experiments.
I love how you kept the location a secret! He is most definitely not storing 8,000 bottles of wine at the end of the dock lol. Very creative 👏🏻
That's really fascinating!
This video was timed perfectly! As I may have mentioned before my son and I have been diving since 2016 and we are getting more experiences all along the way. My son just turned 21 years old yesterday, so we took him out for drinks and cheer last evening. Anyways we are taking him to Las Vegas for spring break and fully intent to partake. It is a great feeling to have adult children.
Darn right. Also...they will leave the house soon so we can go back to being irresponsible!!!
I'm always amazed by people's ingenuity. That's fascinating that he even thought of it. Love your videos. Oh my gosh kids getting so big. And Christine never ages
LOL Liam is 2 inches taller than me now!
Thanks Sal for being such a great fan of the show!
I have never dove but I don’t miss a video put out by you! Thanks for sharing the underwater world with us topside folks!
Same here.. snorkeled but have never been able to dive due to an ear issue.
We dive so you don't have to!! :-)
Love it. My Dive Buddy is a big wine buff. Looks like we will be going to have to learn to speak Portuguese and go diving there. ❤❤❤
6:09 that is certainly one of searching for alitta virens
I had been a fan of Jonathan’s Blue World. Your videos surpassed all expectations. This wine from the bottom of the ocean is one of a kind experimentation that actually benefits the land and the sea. We appreciate your efforts filming this. More videos please 🙏. Love you Blue World!!!❤😊❤
Thanks!!
Very excited to try some of their wine if I ever make it over to Portugal! Lots of love from a longtime fan up in Canada :)
Thanks!!!
I love your videos dude!! Your videos are so amazing and well documented!!
Thanks!!
Great content, thank you for visiting and sharing! I follow this project from the beginning and I feel happy to see that Joaquim Parrinha his following his passion and achieving the goals that he dream of. Cheers!
Thank you very much!
Yall gotta post on Twitter a bit more, just shared this there cause friend of friend was asking. 😊
Love this vid!!! All the fish, again, & something new too!!! I always like to see people working with nature instead of against it xxx
Our boy Jonathan is lit 🔥
Watching this really brings home the damage trawlers would do to the sea bed and habitats.
Portugal looks amazing! I'd love to go someday. Awesome video, Jonathan and Fam! 🙌🏼❤
It's nice!!
Hi Heather!
😀woww.. it's really look like I'm watching a series in which friends go for mysterious diving and solving puzzles, after that celebrating their skills .
😍😍😍😍just loved it.
Hey man i love your videos!
I watched so many of them few years back but i stopped for some reason.
But i came back to watch as awesome videos as they were before!
Much love dude!
Welcome back!!
Oh my, as a fellow wine lover this is something I would love to try!! Not to mention just how gorgeous all of the shots in this video are, it's amazing and I love it thank you for posting this for us!!
At 9:38 we can see how a happy and satisfied individual looks like. I love the red eyes!
Perhaps the wine was TOO good.
Awesome, you should go to hawaii or Antarctica again
Thats pretty neat, and if done responsibly can be great for the local ecosystem!!
You guys are just awesome !!!!
Aw, thanks!
Man... Its really sad these videos get a quarter of the views they used to... I have been watching since i was a little kid and have always noticed the gradual improvement in the production value in every episode. What makes me sad is with how little views these videos are getting now, i can only wonder how long it will be before the cost to make the videos become's too high and the return from the videos aren't enough.
I guess it might just be that the day's of people watching show's like this on places like animal planet or national geographic are over. Or maybe they aren't, and something else is causing stuff like this to get less attention.
Enough with the sad stuff though, im glad you guys are still providing content for us. keep up the good work!
Wonderful 🔄⭕🔄 Blue
Now planning film shots for my wildlife documentaries
You're a great guy!
Aw shucks, thanks!
Hey Jonathan i've been watching your channel since i was like 6 and me and my family Loves your channel we love watching them and you've been a Big part of my childhood seeing all these intresting stuff that u explore and see is always so exciting :D
That is awesome! Thanks for watching and being a long term fan!!
Great!
I’m surprised that the wine wouldn’t be watery!
I've been a fan since I was 8 I'm 15 now and came back it's still a amazing world.
I doubt the sea goes through the glass... BUT... maybe the pressure and different pattern of light is what makes the taste different.
At least it’s free wine for the fishes!
This Easter I am coming to Portugal and you are giving me ideas….Jonathan: I see that you’re enjoying my country so much!
We have enjoyed diving in Portugal very much, and the wine and the food and the people. I have been twice, and we are heading back over to the Azores this summer.
Great episode. So did you notice any difference in taste?
Hello from Pisa 🚩 Tuscany 🇮🇹 Italy
Hello!!!!! TUSCANY!!! Now that's wine country!
@@BlueWorldTV wine, hills and art 🌞🌞🌊🌊🌊
I've watched that show when I was little as well. With their other show Kratts Creatures, and I've watched their recent show Wild Kratts. Imagine if you could use creature power suits. Then it would be using that over scuba gear and a dive suit in going underwater.
Hi, i am wondering what type of regulator you are using?
I am wondering where u can get those. Cant find anything on the internet..

Hey Jonathan! I just found your account and I’ve been obsessed ever since!! How do you feel about people with asthma diving?? I’ve researched it and it’s not recommended but what about shallow diving?
talk to a doctor who is also a diver.
Thank y’all so much!
It totally depends on how bad the asthma is. You need to talk to a doctor, but like someone said here....find a doctor that knows something about diving.
@@BlueWorldTV thank you!! I appreciate you and everyone responding!
Come to Bay Area California.
I will be at school on epic and see the vids btw I love them
Your the best I want to like you 😊
My understanding is that wine ages in the bottle due to the slow influence of air through the cork. I wonder if wines aged underwater like this actually age.
I’m doing the same thing with my son in Chile, but after 4 years of research and experiments, we find out that the wine must be very high in tannins, the deep must be 30 mt. (100 ft.) and the wine must remain underwater for one year. In my country we have the world finest wines, and the Humboldt current help the wines with a consistent temperature in our ocean year round.
That's deep!! Don't you worry about the cork getting pushed in?
@@BlueWorldTV In the first tests, the organic sealing failed us (30% of the bottles leaked). Now we use synthetic sealing wax, which is much more resistant. Also as extra security we put a small balloon, we seal it with tape (the one used by electricians) then we wrap it with hemp thread. With this system we had 100% success.
By the way, were we dive there are yellow sponges more than 2 meters in length, and last weekend when we sink one cage (a big metal cage painted with a special paint that is harmless to the marine life) we encounter a lot of jellyfish (Chrysaora plocamia) 3 meters in length. Next weekend we are sinking 240 bottles of red wine (50% Petit Verdot y un 50% de Petite Sirah) the wine is sunk in small plastic boxes of 24 bottles each, in 3 consecutive dives (we have very little bottom time). The dive spot is 30 minutes of shore by boat.
...I upload some videos in my youtube channel (SANTOS ATEOS)
I’m….I’m….sure it was….was… _hic_ …tasty….
Disney Junior, Disney Channel and Disney XD and nickelodeon.❤
Yes, I hear Disney is big on Wine!!
Do you intend to dive somewhere in Indonesia like Raja Ampat?
I have been there twice on assignments. We had some Raja Ampat stuff in a Blue World episode. May go back in the next couple of years.
My mom (im using my dad's phone) wants me to scuba dive down there and steal some #defentlynot
Next episode should be drinking wine underwater !
🤣 Sounds good to me!!!
Did the wine taste any different from wine that’s processed regularly?
I didn't get to compare the two.
I wonder if water pressure/tempurature have any effect on the difference in aging.
This is the question. I would argue that if the water can't get through the glass or the cork...how can it have any effect? And yet some people can detect a difference!
@@BlueWorldTV Maybe the difference is in the mind 🤔 😂
From where this wine came
Can I scuba dive with you in florida
Wild! I wonder how they prevent theft? It also brings up some interesting questions; this is one person that's using the ocean for a commercial enterprise, but what if larger companies decided to start doing this? It's a large ocean, just a lot of things to consider about it.
It is an experiment. I’m certain they don’t plan on mass producing wine to age in the sea.
If I remember correctly their first batch was actually stolen. I remember reading about this a year or so ago
Really?
@@BlueWorldTV I looked it up to be certain. It was actually a brewery in Argentina. 1,000 L of beer being aged underwater were stolen. Apologies for confusion
Johnathan Bird, ever heard of Kris and Martin, The Kratt Brothers?
im sorry but i dont think he looks at comments
Yes of course I know the Kratts!
I most certainly look at comments.
Not only do I look at (and respond to) comments every day, I am quite familiar with all our regular commenters. Matthew is one of our regulars and I always enjoy his feedback.
@@BlueWorldTV ok sorry
Come to California.
Johnathan Bird, can you please tell me which of the scuba divers, on the first dive, is Christine, Elise, Liam, and the other guest diver? How come your family aren't with yon the second dive?
On the second dive, we went back to Portugal to go cave diving (episodes coming soon!) and so it was me and Todd, who is my cave diving buddy (the wife and kids don't cave dive). We convinced Joaquim to show us the "wine cellar". So the reason we had to borrow dive gear is because we only had our sidemount cave diving gear with us.
@@BlueWorldTV Well can you tell me who's who on both scuba dives, please?
What’s the biggest wreck you’ve been to?
I'm not actually sure.
Hawaii
Then do know the Kratt Brother's, Chris and Martin, three shows that were on PBS, kids?
I don't know the Kratt brothers, but I've been aware of their shows since my kids were little and they were making Zaboomafoo.
I got cut by barnacles and will never dive without gloves again
How is the wine? What does it tast like?
Tastes like regular wine!
😂🤣😂
Hi, Jonathan, I just turn 21 today.
Happy birthday!
I thought this was from a ship wreck so it s just wine dumped in the ocean 🤨
Now there’s nothing in common yeah or maybe yeah I don’t know
Wow, very interesting!! 🤙💦
You shuld have met robaldo
age some pizza or mc donalds maybe chinese food
I hope you didnt drink it underwater too haha
No, the salt messes with the flavors. 🤣
hello
Hi
Disclaimer: Do not watch this episode if you’re under the age of 21.
You can watch it, but no underage drinking!
a wise man once said to never drink achohol 🤮🤮😠😡
this is not a hate comment
that sea wine is a scam. its regular wine. the "movement of the ocean" does nothing
Lol perfect example of selling a gimmick
Great Vid.. but this is a gimmick.. its all about the temperature.
You could be right.
@@BlueWorldTV ty!! huge fan
Not new et al. Companies age wine in the ocean for at least a decade.
