Perhaps not all of them but too many of them. None of them knows that this is a memorial to my brothers and sisters that paid the ultimate price. You show great disrespect to this monument with your ludicrous comment.
JustAnotherGuy What's more disrespectful is the Americans burning of the American Flag. More than the memorial the flag represents more of the soldiers who laid down their lives. So he's basically talking nonsense if one may say.
I'm Portuguese. Last time i visited the USA i witnessed the same disrespectful behavior 🤬🤬🤬 So i took upon myself, even though I'm not American, to kick everything single person from there... In Portugal we have similar places in memory of our soldiers, including the unknown soldier monument. We became furious everytime a dumb tourist disrespects any of them. So on that day, and both over the respect of my fellow soldiers that fell in Battle, i took upon myself de duty to remove and clean the place. I served, sacrificed for freedom and life, for my country and others. So no one, but NO ONE as I'm present will ever disrespect such places, and i do not care which country the monument is. Because in the end, independently of our nationality, were are soldiers, brothers in arms
I absolutely agree with this guy that it is disrespectful to swim there but it makes me angry how often he says that these people aren’t American. It really shouldn’t matter if they are from the US or not...

People just do shit without thinking about what they're doing.
Last year I went on a trip with my class to DC and when we went to the WW2 memorial a lot of my class were playing in the water, even some of my close friends. I was really outraged that they would do that I felt sad for those who served and died for our nation just to be mocked as if they were in a water park. I hope more people speak up like this man.

why the hell would there be? the only reason you'd need that is if a bunch of outgroups who don't give a shit about your culture are flooded into your country
@Seth 101 There should always be security. People are shit everywhere even in our own society. Not uncommon for local graffiti taggers to hit the WW2 monument, the staff is just usually quick about cleaning it up.
I'm not American and it upsets me seeing this. People need to be respectful. That's disgusting behaviour. I remember when I went to 9/11 memorial in NYC and seeing some tourists leaning and touching random victims name posing and trying to get the best picture of the waterfalls while laughing and smiling in the pictures. I felt disgusted. In any time I felt the need to take a selfie or picture posing and smiling in a place that exists because of a tragedy. I think some places could start giving fines to those that don't respect the place. And these same people are the ones that complain later when there is discrimination. If you're in a foreign country either living or visiting, respect the country and the culture! If they allow you to be there, that's the minimum you should do and be grateful.
ultimatetrex1999 No, it does matter that they arent american because this shows complete ignorance and disregard for american history and culture, which shouldnt be accepted and reinforced especially if we are kind enough to let them live in such a beautiful part of the world
Zach, These people obviously don’t know that, and no it doesn’t matter what ethnicity you’re from. Disrespect is disrespect. I’m not defending the foreigners disrespecting the memorial, but black, white, asian, etc. it shouldn’t matter, two people of different races should be punished the same for the same unlawful act.
Paul Monter them not knowing is precisely my point. they should know better, and take the time to educate themselves. land and natural resources arent the things that make the USA beautiful, if you want those things come up and live in Canada with me. what makes the USA beautiful, and other europeanized countries, is the quality of life. no where is it even close to matched in the counties where many of these people are from
I can understand ignorance but the fact that No one even had the decency to apologies after they were told why they can’t swim in there makes me lose my faith in humanity
The thing is, you shouldn't have to install a sign that says do not swim. It should be common sense. You're at a memorial for soldiers that died, you should know not to swim in the fountain. Yes, people saw others doing it and thought it was okay, but that's not much of an excuse.
I know, right? It's almost as if, when it was built, they'd expect people to know better. That area has cemetaries, memorials every few steps (Lincoln, Andrew, Washington, WWII, Vietnam, WWI) and these people think that this memorial is okay to swim in? It's a memorial. I hope those people feel ashamed. If I ever get back there and I see that I'll just call the park service and have them deal with it because I don't think I could handle it as well as this guy did. Even after they were told it was wrong they wanted to shame the person that told them it was wrong. Disgusting.
Lola Carmen around 1/3 of these people these people are not aware of American history or American Culture as we know it they mostly see American history from their side of Oppression so they have no idea what good things these people did , and most likely didn't know how important memorials are to us and it's actually common and legal for them to swim and play in public fountains in their home countries. True they did not do it with bad intentions as they were swimming around ,however they should have taken immediate action to correct their behavior once notified that what they were doing was disrespectful here at a memorial. The 2/3 s took who advantage of the first of the one-third and followed thier example thinking they wouldn't get in trouble while knowing it was disrespectful. So although it would seem that a sign is not necessary at a memorial, it could potentially avoid situations like this......( Plus Americans live in a country where they are required by law to put a caution contents may be hot print on hot coffee cups.... What's the problem with putting a do not swim sign there I mean I am American and I'm all for that sign.)
I like how he was calm about it and not read me that people forcing them to get out of the pool he was actually reasonable and telling them it was disrespectful

@@adamage1766 Listen, you fucking liberal fruitcake. Claiming ignorance gives you no right to disrespect the dead like that. Quit being a pussy and let your parents know that they failed you.
I agree a memorial should be respected and not swam in. But i have to say this does look like a regular fountain for the public though so you can understand why people swim in it. In london we have massive fountains and people do jump in when its hot. I dont think the foreigners were intentionally disrespecting the memorial. The council should erect a 'no swimming' sign clearly for everyone to see.
ninjaturtlemaster24 boi it doesnt look like a fountain its lowkey in the middle of a memorial if any of them had common sense they woulve look around and seen that it wasn't a fountain, but hey common sense is not common
Actually it has a walkway leading up to it, giving the impression it is a very important monument, and it has pictures and writing everywhere commemorating the fallen American soldiers of WW2, it's not like a walk through a mall or a park, the monument is just that large
Jonathan Kavanagh But its still a fountain at the end of the day. How 'clear' it is a memorial is up for debate. If people werent allowed to swim in it and was considered disrespectful the council really should have put up a sign by now. The fact that they havent shows they dont think its that big of a deal. In hyde park london, there is a massive fountain, almost same size as this one, for princess diana. Its clear its a memorial with a massive sign. But many people still swim in it, europeans and british alike. So it shows its not just 'foreigners' doing this. Western people jump into fountains too even with full knowledge its a memorial. But that aside...yes i do personally think a memorial should be respected and if people dont want me to swim in one, i wont. But just pointing out facts
Imagine being so stupid you disrespect those men and women that saved you're life and saved the world from going into war. Shame on them, god bless you for standing up for the fallen Heroes.

As a non american and a lover of all cultures i respect what this man is trying to do here. Rude or not, you have to show some respect for symbolic memorials like this even if you're a foreigner and specially if it's made by your own country. Can you imagine the outrage if someone starts playing ball in auswitchz or jumping over the pyramids?
Don’t listen to Griffin, he’s probably one of those people who hasn’t worked a day in his life, or is just pretending to be American and saying shit to make America look bad. But yeah, common sense.

this saddens me on how they do this, these are dead people, most of them probably in there 20s when they died, and these people find it as a pleasure to swim in it
As a foreigner, I know that this is a memorial place, it should be treated as a memorial place too. This is actually disrespectful for the soldiers, First of all, why would you swim in ther? FOR WHAT REASON? Wow really disappointed. I’m not trying to be racist or anything but this is actually disrespectful
I remember back in 5 grade when we had a field trip to DC, this was a beautiful place, I’ve never seen people inside swimming and stuff, I saw people just take pictures and stuff, I’m really disappointed
How do you know its disrespectful for the soilders that fought and died?, aint that what they fought for, so people can have the freedom to do what ever they want as long as its good. I see no trash on the floors or people painting or doing anything bad all i see is people haveing a great day.
I don't know about signage there, but if signage is lacking, it's easy to mistake this memorial for a regular fountain for decoration. Not that I approve of swimming in a city fountain either, but it is after alle less offensive and disrespectful.
John Williams - Veterans who actually served for service instead of for attention (like this douche in the video) probably wouldn't be overly offended. They aren't burning flags or picketing. They are simply enjoying the fountain. That's what freedom is about. Before you whine about the memorial part of it, YES, I would LOVE for people to enjoy a memorial for ME like this. CELEBRATE the lives of those who fought for us, not try to RESTRICT like those we fought against.
Lady: "Do you speak English" Spanish people: "Yes" Lady: "This is a memorial for soldiers. You're not supposed to swim here" Spanish guy: "No habla englais" 🤣🤣🤣
uncle ted L That's how it works in Arizona. You tell someone they did something wrong, and suddenly they can only speak Spanish. Funniest part is there are usually bilingual signs too, so you just point to those. Heck, they would probably start speaking Japanese.
As A US NAVY VETERAN AND PROUD OF IT. Say what you will but don't think for one moment that children playing and laughing in a fountain is not what we served for little children is the very core of why men serve. And if you say your a vet and you haven't realized that anyone you served with that did not make it would love to spend one day there watching and listening to those children frolicking to just hear their laughter you my Brother should talk too your local VA maybe have a mental Evaluation done
@Gannon Peebles are you A veteran? Or just some ass with an opinion of what you believe to be true. Do you personally know veterans whom you received their opinion? Because I had this conversation at the VA hospital were I volunteer as a driver and overwhelmingly real veterans say let the children play if you really cared about this monument you would have visited it and wouldn't be so daft as to think people can swim in 2 foot of water. And I'll apologize now my Last evaluation DOC said I am way to critical of stupid people like yourself. Because every Veteran knows there is no honor derived from the killing of another human being and the soul cries out when told their a hero or welcome home. So did I miss anything dimwit?

danielangel vega Dude, take a second (or as long as you need ) to chill. Okay, lets be open minded here. Yes, he might be a guy who just b******* around and just talk but no action. But who knows, he might be like a war vet or related to a war vet who feels like by bathing in the fountain is like disrespecting the dead soldiers. Lets take another sample here. Imagine like there is a rat (I'm not comparing those person to rats, its like parallel argument, don't get hyper about this cuz this is is just concept) who comes and eats your plants you worked so hard for. Also, you got family to take care of. If you let the rats eat the plants, you're practically killing yourself and your family. But you just saved the rat population. If you kill the rats, you are just there to protect your family from death. But then you are considered inhumane because you kill the rats. So you have a bloody moral dilemma. Which would you choose? Now coming back to the real topic, the guy is weighing that respect for the dead soldiers is more important than allowing someone to take a bath at the fountain. He might think like "Please don't swim in the pool, its part of the memorial made to remember those dead soldiers. I hope you can please go somewhere else that is made for what you wanna do. You wanna swim? Please find some swimming pool nearby. Need help? Sure." Now from what I could assume here, you prioritise that freedom of doing things anywhere , anytime is important over respecting the dead soldiers. Or maybe by bathing is not showing disrespect whatsoever. Ok. I think you're more to the second ones. You see no clash between bathing and respecting soldiers in this case. But this guy do. So do I actually. So lets be more open minded here and don't fall to stereotyping or generalisation. We are all different. You see here we have very, very, and I do say very, different points of view. Now I didn't say he is a true patriot. He is in some sense is a patriot. I more on trying to say he is patriot, but not in a perfect way at all, but there is a little hint of patriotism. Now it might be unpatriotic in your sense, I find it a bit patriotic. Is it the true patriotism, I don't think so. Does it sound fake? Quite a lot. But does it sound patriotic without considering its fake or real? It is, though not in the great way, to me. Might not be for you but it is to me. We all live as we would like to live so yeah, my sense of patriotism might be very weird to you, but I do suggest all of us to be open-minded. Be open, not cursing because we are of different opinion, because that is what a new type of discrimination are, discriminating against ones who has different views from us. Any radicals (I dunno where I'm going with this but bear with me) too doesn't have sense of open-mindedness. Being open doesn't hurt (unless your agenda might die from being open to all views). Also, yeah it does look like a stupid fountain, but the symbolic meaning it is there is to honor the soldiers. I don't know in what way it can respect the dead soldiers, but short story, its to honor the soldiers. You might wanna clarify the emoji though. What do you try to imply? Because my phone can't read it, sorry bout that.
The fountain thing wasn’t okay, but the other people sitting on the literal benches is just fine. They are sitting where they are allowed. That is just fine and not disrespectful. The only disrespectful people were the ones in the fountain. However, just because he is a veteran doesn’t give him the right to try and kick them out. I hate that attitude. He should go and find the local authorities and tell them something
OpticalGhost i agree with u. Most people were sitting down, they weren't even in the water, and he's going round, demanding they go away. I agree they should'nt have been swimming though.
Spottus yes, however you are allowed to sit on them. They are benches in memory of the soldiers. It’s just like when you go through parks and see benches in memory of certain people. You are allowed to sit on them. The only disrespectful thing was swimming in the fountain
I mean, that's true, but he was probably offended by everyone brushing him off and not listening. Though it's true he should've took it to authorities.
Any person from any country should find this disrespectful. This memorial is for the men who died in one of the worst wars in our history, and there just screwing around acting like its just a brick of granite and nothing more. It also violates laws what there doing.

I'm Portuguese.
Last time i visited the USA i witnessed the same disrespectful behavior 🤬🤬🤬
So i took upon myself, even though I'm not American, to kick everything single person from there...

Telling everyone to not swim in a memorial pool is the right thing to do
Last year I went on a trip with my class to DC and when we went to the WW2 memorial a lot of my class were playing in the water, even some of my close friends. I was really outraged that they would do that I felt sad for those who served and died for our nation just to be mocked as if they were in a water park. I hope more people speak up like this man.
Both of my grandfathers fought in WWII and I helped build that memorial. Pissed off doesn’t even come close.
M Printz my great-grandpa was in the Air Force and died in WWII, my grandpa and dad are veterans of the Air Force, my brother-in-law is drafted in the Air Force right now, and my cousin is in Texas training (he was drafted 8 hours after his youngest daughter was born)

It’s also very disrespectful that there isn’t any type of security around this Memorial to make sure no one does anything like this.
Ahmed Nahshal I was about to say, the lack of security is almost paranormal.
why the hell would there be? the only reason you'd need that is if a bunch of outgroups who don't give a shit about your culture are flooded into your country
There should be no need for security.
@Seth 101 There should always be security. People are shit everywhere even in our own society. Not uncommon for local graffiti taggers to hit the WW2 monument, the staff is just usually quick about cleaning it up.
Rex yeah, it's called tourism.
This breaks my heart I am grateful for all the people who faught and still fight for are army and country today!
When I went to visit there, no one swam in the fountain. It was complete silence and yet beautiful. Then again....it was in the middle of December

No, it does matter that they arent american because this shows complete ignorance and disregard for american history and culture, which shouldnt be accepted and reinforced especially if we are kind enough to let them live in such a beautiful part of the world
Zach, These people obviously don’t know that, and no it doesn’t matter what ethnicity you’re from. Disrespect is disrespect. I’m not defending the foreigners disrespecting the memorial, but black, white, asian, etc. it shouldn’t matter, two people of different races should be punished the same for the same unlawful act.
Paul Monter
them not knowing is precisely my point. they should know better, and take the time to educate themselves. land and natural resources arent the things that make the USA beautiful, if you want those things come up and live in Canada with me. what makes the USA beautiful, and other europeanized countries, is the quality of life. no where is it even close to matched in the counties where many of these people are from

Disgusting.
You shouldn't even be swimming in a fountain in the first place
Lola Carmen it's completely disrespectful but just saying they wouldn't be veterans if they died
Josh Josh omg I just caught that. Thanks, I'll change it!

Actually it has a walkway leading up to it, giving the impression it is a very important monument, and it has pictures and writing everywhere commemorating the fallen American soldiers of WW2, it's not like a walk through a mall or a park, the monument is just that large
drphil thechildphilestor
but... it is a fountain

Jose Avila the only trash I see, is in the water, it’s a fucking memorial place, not a fun zone to be playing around.
I don't know about signage there, but if signage is lacking, it's easy to mistake this memorial for a regular fountain for decoration. Not that I approve of swimming in a city fountain either, but it is after alle less offensive and disrespectful.
I'd like to see a WW2 veterans genuine reaction to this.
John Williams - Veterans who actually served for service instead of for attention (like this douche in the video) probably wouldn't be overly offended. They aren't burning flags or picketing.
Need help? Sure."
Now from what I could assume here, you prioritise that freedom of doing things anywhere , anytime is important over respecting the dead soldiers.
[ ? ] Good explanation, But I seriously doubt he will understand even after all you wrote.
First thing this guy notices is that they aren’t white. True American exceptionalism.
If soldier was still here to look at this he would say “GET, OF, THE, WATER!”
I think everyone should just be more respectful we Americans do it too.
OpticalGhost He’s yelling at the parents of the kids
Spottus yes, however you are allowed to sit on them. They are benches in memory of the soldiers. It’s just like when you go through parks and see benches in memory of certain people. You are allowed to sit on them. The only disrespectful thing was swimming in the fountain
I mean, that's true, but he was probably offended by everyone brushing him off and not listening. Though it's true he should've took it to authorities.
Im not even American, but I still think this is very disrespectful 😐😑
Mexicano 146 yeah
This is disrespectful
Any person from any country should find this disrespectful. This memorial is for the men who died in one of the worst wars in our history, and there just screwing around acting like its just a brick of granite and nothing more.
It also violates laws what there doing.
Bet you blacks would love living under Nazi rule wouldn't you? And this country was not ever owned by the blacks it was owned by the red people originally.
PS. Work on your literacy skills, I suggest you go to the kids section of the library and work your way up from there.
Venom Mcpherson somebody didn’t pay attention in class when the Doolittle raiders came up.
