These soldiers died to secure the future for generations to come. And this is how they are payed back. Sure, it’s wonderful to have a memorial commemorating the American troops, but these people are treating it like an amusement park. I’m not even fully American, and this crap p*sses me off.
Comments here are weak. Not for one instant do I think our soldiers who sacrificed would be offended by women and children playing in the water at the Memorial. What a pisshead this man was for trying to guilt guests in our country. Looks like a safe and ideal place for a little kid on his/her first trip to America to cool off and feel safe. This is really quite normal for people who live in DC, lots of people do it, even ordinary White families, no need to focus on their ethnicity. Perhaps if the nation's capital provided residents with better services, perhaps even public swimming pools like other cities have in abundance, then maybe they wouldn't be going swimming in the foundation. This is a place of remembrance, and I'm not condoning it, because there are other city fountains people could go swimming in, instead.

I'm not American and it upsets me seeing this. People need to be respectful. That's disgusting behaviour. I remember when I went to 9/11 memorial in NYC and seeing some tourists leaning and touching random victims name posing and trying to get the best picture of the waterfalls while laughing and smiling in the pictures. I felt disgusted. In any time I felt the need to take a selfie or picture posing and smiling in a place that exists because of a tragedy. I think some places could start giving fines to those that don't respect the place. And these same people are the ones that complain later when there is discrimination. If you're in a foreign country either living or visiting, respect the country and the culture! If they allow you to be there, that's the minimum you should do and be grateful.
