- This is a detailed tutorial on how to make a mosaic using river rocks. I walk you through everything from collecting the rocks, gathering the necessary materials, to the installation.
Nicole, this is a wonderful tutorial.
Thank you so much!
LOVE this! My husband never lets me do anything fun like this.
Haha! I sometimes wait until my husband leaves town so that he returns to it already having been done! Luckily he doesn't mind. 😂
What a beautiful project. I'll be walking around my house looking for a good spot. Probably a backsplash for my stove!
Great idea! Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions along the way!
I love mosaic work, my mother has several master degrees in art. Anyway, I’d like to do mosaic Seaglass, and depending on the color of the room, that’s how I decided to color pattern my work..I do these on table top. my table top are usually a night stand by the bed… etc…Anyway, I never thought about using River rocks and your work for mosaic with the river rocks are gorgeous. Question in your front yard do you have a mosaic type walkway to the entrance of your door? that’s one of my big goals once I buy another home for myself… anyway once again awesome work… big gigantic hugs 🤗,Michelle
Our walkways are just slate, but I have done mosaic walkways in the past. Maybe someday in my eventual retirement... and your table tops sound gorgeous!
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
I often get stuck on a word (raised with too many languages in my head). When grouting, your fingers won't get charred (haha!). The skin will get ground down. Hence, wear gloves. Also, the adhesive is a thin-set mortar.
Thank you for this; it's a project I've wanted to do in my own home. I think I must've missed what kind of adhesive you used? Could you share it again, please? Thank you!
So sorry about that. It's a thin-set mortar. Let me know if you have any other questions throughout your own process!
Great tutorial - thanks!
Can you use the same technique using larger river rock...about twice the size of the ones you're using?
Yes! I've done that before. My challenge was ensuring the rocks adhered to the surface (the wall), so I had to use more adhesive than I anticipated. But yes.
Fyi, RUclips put a "mature content" warning on this video. I can only imagine it's because you used the word "caulk" and their AI heard a different word? Lol anyway, very helpful video. Thank you.
Haha! That's hilarious.
