With the Lok Sabha polls just around the corner, many in Tamil Nadu seem to perceive this as an ideological fight between Dravidianism and Hindutva.
The Dravidian ideology is based on Periyar EV Ramasamy’s teachings of social justice, equality and Tamil nationalism. Periyar, who is widely known as ‘Thanthai’ Periyar, is considered the father of the Dravidian movement. The Hindutva ideology, which is in stark contrast to the principles that Dravidianism stands by, is based on Sarvarkar’s idea of Hindu nationalism, wherein, he discredited Christians and Muslims of not being true Indians unless they renounce their faiths, which he claimed are not Indic.

BJP has a fundamental problem in its pre assumption. It thinks India as a single geo political block which is the same as that of the North. This is why it imposes Hindi language to be mandatory in all of India. It influences narcissistic hindutva ideology. I mean, in almost everything, typical Northern arrogance and prejudices always find their way in BJP politics.

I have worked in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu for over 2 years. Tamil people are very intelligent. They will definitely not fall for politics based on religion.I really admire the Tamil people.
Tamilians are proud of their culture. They won't just vote on basis of caste and religion. Hindus, Muslims and Christians of TN speak the same Tamil language and share similar cultural identity.

Dravidian ideology did not arise as an opposition to Hindutva. It arose as a social justice movement which later on took additional goals such as opposition of Hindi imposition and the attempts at homogenizing Indian society with the culture of Delhi as the template. The INC gave up these things in the 70s although you can still see some older politicians from the Hindi belt still holding on to those old ideas.
The same homogenizing tendencies exist in Hindutva as well. The Jana Sangh's slogan of Hindi Hindu Hindustan is still remembered in TN. There is no scope for the BJP at least for another decade in TN.
We will never entertain hatred ...so won't welcome divisional parties like bjp..

Sorry for asking a very dumb question but it sparked a debate in my head so please listen to it, I watched a Bassem Youssef interview and he said something regarding why casting a vote doesn’t really matter, and it casts an illusion of being able to help yourself by chosing a candidate. "He said what is the point of giving vote to someone who at the end of the day will just work for special groups that will pay them much more than I will ever pay him." On the other hand I do understand that voting is a privilege and we shouldn't ignore this right that our forefather's struggle has reaped so I should vote. But now the thing is what difference will it make?
Someone will come like us because we are clean , simple as citizen we have simple life clear thoughts , lovely people so when someone come we have acknowledge him /her then our vote would be worth it .
