  • This clip is about Nick paddling his surf ski. I am using my GoPro sideways. It was the last bit of a 27.3 km (17 miles) trip around Rangitoto island. It was very windy and we paddled against the tide both ways.
    It was the first time we did the circumnavigation of Rangitoto counterclockwise.

    How stable is the bluefin?

      Stability is very personal so it really depends. Most people would find it very stable, me included. I raced on that one on a big downwind day and never capsized despite an elbow injury during the race: ruclips.net/video/UVDgWzmRNn4/видео.htmlsi=7PHDcYqF6-8k10Gi
      I also know a decent sea kayaker who got a Bluefin lately and he fell in 3 times on a calm sea. Maybe it is the lack of knee support or was his previous sea kayak extremely stable? On the upside he could remount it easily.

    How dangerous is the water if you fell in?

    • @kayakintro
      @kayakintro  4 месяца назад

      @@ntl9974 It is still cold so there is a danger of hypothermia if you can’t get back in. We both wear a PFD and I had a spare inflatable (canister) PFD in case things were going really wrong.
