Night shift nurse here, i work in trauma. During those stressful moments, I remember that I am one person and I have two arms and two legs. I cannot do more than I physically do and freaking out will not make things go faster or help me grow more limbs.
LOVE THIS.
Wow I’m a new nurse staring next month and I really love this. I’ll absolutely take this with me. Thank you bunches!
I pass my NCLEX exam thanks too Mrs ELISABETH
Took my NCLEX -RN test last week and passed with 150 questions on my first try!! Huge Thanks to Mis ELISABETH HELEN, she is a game changer 😊✨
I have sat for NCLEX Exam for the 9th time now and still failed , i guess licence isn't meant for people like me🤦♂️💔😥
The hill I will die on is that you shouldn’t have to pay to park at college or the hospital…and I am a university employee with a chronic illness so I have to do both 😂
THANK YOU. It still drives me nuts.
When I’m stressed out, I take three deep breaths and drink some water. Works for me every time 😊
I see Kiara having her own Nursing conference tour sometime soon. That would be so cool.
*adds to bucketlist*
I've worked a variety of shifts & my fave is 12 hour nights. I like to just do all 3 in a row and be done. Plus, the night shift differential makes it worth it!
I also like working 3 in a row, makes it so much easier!
This was such a good explanation and so refreshing to just hear majority positives for both! Please share more nursing thoughts or experiences 😊
To me the whole shift system the US has is so interresting. I worked in a hospital as an intern for a year and in Germany it's so completely different. In my hospital we had morning shift from 6am-2pm, late shift from 1pm-9pm, then there was also a late-late shift from like 5pm-1am to support during evening care, preparing all the meds for the patients for the next and help the night-shift nurse for a few hours and then ofc night shift from 8pm to 6/6-30am. Also every nurse that worked full time had to do a few nights each month, except for 2 mothers that worked limited hours and only worked nights by their choice. There was a frequent change between morning and late shift, which was exhausting somtimes, especially when it was late to morning switch. Also just working 4 shifts in a row sounds like a dream! Even as an intern I worked up to 12 days in a row...
Thanks Kiara for giving us the insight of the difference in day and night shifts! 🎉
You are the prettiest nurse ever what the heck Kiara
Congrats on everything you’ve accomplished thus far 🎉 I’m still in school but I admire your hard work and dedication to your field 😊 you’re doing great hun!
Getting your upload notifications always makes me so happy!! I hope you’re having a great week!!
Getting your comments make me so happy! Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
I'm a PA and switch between day and night shifts and I agree that switch is rough! been doing it for 6 years now and while it's easier, that 3am/4am slump on nights still hits hard
I somehow feel very comforted by this. Night shift crew unite ❤️
Well done on getting through those day shift days.
The meals looked great.
I try to take a deep breath and count to 10, then decide how I am going to tackle the problem.
Always surprises me how well that works!
I just got back to Northern Ireland yesterday after a trip to Seattle and Portland! The hot days nearly killed me lol and I walked 30 mins to go to Salt and Straw in the heat. Their flavours are so different but the one I had was delish and it’s a really cute neighbourhood.
Aww I’m so glad you came to visit! Sorry it was so crazy hot here…it’s usually not that bad 😂 glad you got the salt and straw experience though, I go there way too much ;)
I love your vlogs! I’m doing my prerequisites for nursing & hoping to get into nursing school soon. Keep the nursing vlogs coming❤️
Hello! I’m from Canada and I find it interesting that you got hired for a straight nights line. it’s might vary across Canada but where I am all nurses we work the day day night night rotation you can swap your shifts to try to get all nights or all days but for the most part we all do days and nights equally. Anyways love the vids 💜
I honestly wish more hospitals in my state did that but I haven’t really heart of that happening…I think so other hospitals in the US do offer that schedule which is nice!
Wearing my 3m old son as he naps in his carrier + watching your newest video = bliss! ♥️
Aww that makes me so happy! ❤️
Love this, such an inspiration
Thanks for watching! have a good weekend!

Maybe Take Trimet and Portland Street car as alternative to the Automobile so that you won’t be worrying too much about parking structures.
Can I just say kiara that your music is so unique to every other youtuber I’ve watched and I always look forward to it :)

Same to you!
When Kiara and Keegan post a video on the same day, it brings joy to us.
You know it's gonna be a good day when this happens!!
Yes!! It's the bestie telepathy!
I agree with you
I just signed up for the Factor5 meals! Always been curious about them so thanks for the extra push (and the extra discount)!
Yay! Excited to hear what you think! I’m still dreaming about my butter chicken and the other one I showed in this video!
Kiara, you really should think about becoming a doctor. You have such an amazing bed side manner just in general that it seems it would be such a natural progression for you in your career and imagine what a blessing you would be to not only your patients but to their families. Thanks for sharing a glimpse into your life!
I don't know how to keep myself calm during a stressful period. I just lose my appetite, can't sleep and get irritated and angry easily & quickly. But I think time heals everything so the more time gets by the less stressful I become.
Your 48 hours as a new nurse is pretty nice, Kiara!
Thanks!
I am a big list person and very logical about things but I can also be a big overthinker so when I am stressed I let myself have a moment and then try and be logical about what I need to/what I can do and make myself a list to get myself feeling more organised
THIS. I totally relate...that's why I feel like writing down my list on paper actually helps me sort it out 😂
My office changed my work hours from the morning to a 2-10 pm. I love my job but I´m a morning person, the time I have the most energy is in the morning so going to work early wasn´t a problem for me. Now is hard not to take my 5 pm nap or not to drink coffe after 6 so I can be able to sleep. I´m still getting used to this new routine. I enjoyed this video, hope yo are having a great week
wow that is quite the switch and I can see how that would be a challenge....it is amazing what we can rally through but it can be very rough at the same time!
I do a month of days then a month of nights!! They both have pros/cons it’s so hard but normal sleep for me always wins over nightshift lol
amazing vidoe i enjoy take care yourself sty safe pretty stunning queen looks awesome
Thank you! You too!
Hi kiara good morning happy Saturday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Thank you for the support!!
nice keep going sis❤
will do 💕
As a danish nurse student I find so wild that you work 12 hour shifts and don't rotate regularly between them. In Denmark we work 8 hour shift (7 - 15, 15 - 23 and 23 - 7) and we regularly rotate between shifts. And we don't draw blood. We got Medical Laboratory Technologists for that. The only time we draw blood is if as patient is really bad and we need a artery puncture (Arterial blood test)
Also In night shift on a small hospital on the medical floor we 3 nurses and 3 nurse assistants for 30 patients😅
It’s normal that 1 nurse is responsible for 5 - 10 patients by herself on day shift 🫣
I wish we did shift rotations!! Luckily on my floor we don’t really draw blood from a poke, all our kids on treatment have some sort of central line so it’s so easy to get good blood return from them! So fun to hear the nursing differences in all the countries!
can you explain what your actual schedule is? does it change each week?
Found your channel by accident. Subscribing. ❤
I love ❤️ the way you edit ✍🏾 your video I love 💗 watching your video I’m your biggest fan you make amazing 🤩 video you make awesome 🤩 😎 👏🏾 video
Aww thank you thank you!! Take me a long time, but I’m glad you like it 💓
Hey Kiara ❤
Hey hey!
Hi love, absolutely love your channel. I hope you see this, did you complete your associates or you bachelors in nursing ???
Thank you! I have my bachelors!
Hi Kiara I’m so curious are all your scrubs from Figs? Also your compression socks and under scrubs, like your long sleeves? Also does your hospital have their own scrub color for nurses but you guys are allowed to wear any scrub color you want?
All my scrub pants and compression socks are! But the long sleeves tops are a mix of lululemon and figs! We can wear whatever color we want so it’s fun to mix it up in peds world!
Hey Kiara
Hey hey! Hope you're having a good day!
I stopped You Need To Calm Down to watch this. I also ran to RUclips as soon as I got the upload notification.
I respect this sacrifice so much!
I always liked working the 3-11pm shift because I had one meal to deal with and showers were usually all done. Plus it was just quieter and easier.
That would seriously be my dream shift!
That is the map of Portland and there you have highway 26 that goes to banks and vernonia and the other route goes to Pendleton and the other route that goes to Salem I-5 SB And I-5 Northbound to Vancouver Longview Olympia Tacoma Seattle WA and Vancouver BC. And I-5 north becomes BC highway 99A which takes you to the Trans Canada Highway from Vancouver BC to Halifax NS. Through British Columbia Alberta Saskatchewan Manitoba Ontario Quebec New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
I prefer 1st shift. 7am to 4 pm how is everyone treating at work? Do you have grumpy patients?
I wish this was an option at my hospital...it sounds ideal! And most of my patients are amazing or going through someone really tough so an occasional child outburst doesn't bother me :)
I do night shift and afternoons in Victoria Australia . Night shift has ruined my sleep pattern lol. I work in aged care
It is definitely hard to keep up with sleep when you’re flipping constantly!
Where do you buy your long sleeve shirts and scrub pants?
My scrub pants are all figs and the tops are a mix of figs or lululemon that I already had from before I started nursing 😂
Can you please explain how many years it take you to complete nursing school and pediatric oncology too🙏🏻
It took me 15 months to get my nursing degree in an accelerated program…did my prerequisites mostly with my previous 4 year degree in human physiology, and then I was hired into peds oncology and started working with a total of about 6 months of orientation!
“at baseline” tell me ur a nurse without telling me ur a nurse 😂
My vocab is morphing 😆
3 in a row on days is COMPLETELY different than 3 in a row on nights. I’ve heard this a lot.
I would agree but also 3 in a row on nights you completly check out from the world where on days you kinda mingle with normal society still so to me it feels better 😂
How do you post music without getting copyright?
I get all my music from thematic, check them out :)
Do you work a 12 hour shift? Or shorter?
Yep 12.5 hour shifts!
Did you meet Keegan or Katie Mack first?
I actually met Keegan first! We've been friends since I was like 15
Hi
Hi!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😘😘
How much money a new nurse make?
Some viewers will criticize my comment * they hate your moving videos) : Since you will be at this hospital for the next three years, is it possible for you to live much closer to the hospital so you could walk for 15 minutes to get to the hospital? So sweet, taking a break and your video popped up!
Hahah those haters need to chill. I actually live a 10 min drive away which is basically as close as you can get to the hospital. I've thought about living in another spot that's walkable, but I'm also so happy in my apartment now and hope my next move will be into a house :)
It was hot as F on that 100 degree day. No way….. My heat limit is 80. 85 is my personal boundary lol. 100 to 105 (which is what our last hot day was in pdx)…No way. I’m hiding out in air conditioning.
I really pushed myslef to hang out with friends that day cuz I usually hate the heat with a burning passion!
Can you please send me the info for your white dress attire in this video? Can you DM me the info/ link so I can order the dress. Thank you in advance. 🙏🤗❤️😊
I actually bought it a few years ago from aritzia so sadly they don’t sell it anymore 💔
Why don't you wear scrubs at work?
Always great thumbnails. Do you know ahead what your thumbnail will look like before you make a video?
This one I had an idea, but more of the time I create it based on what photos I have :)
Did you end up liking the meals? 👀
I actually really did! They taste way better than a typical frozen meal, more fresh and flavorful!
As silly as it is, take deep breaths!!
Yes!! Just an important one!
Do you have to wear glasses I mean all those homework and exams may have destroyed your beautiful blue eyes 😭 and I really want to cry for your perky eyes 😭
