    Thank you so much! This was the best tutorial video I have ever watched! It was all about the teaching and not the boring talk which I can never watch when they spend 3/4 of the video listening to their own voice! 🙏🏽

    I like that the project is only limited by imagination. Any shape can be created fast and inexpensively.

    They aren't cheap at the stores either. At least this way, if u r crafty, u can enjoy making a custom piece for ur tank & possibly even sell one or two. I guess this would be for those people who really enjoy making things w/ their hands & having the satisfaction of seeing the end result is a "one of a kind". I wouldn't mind making a huge one for my 50 gal., since they cost like $60 at the store.

    Are your resin suitable for casting? I'm really wanting to make a novelty insert for a good friends fish aquarium. But the design has lots of holes and is a roughly spherical shape. I was thinking I would need to create a mold for it in order to have a void in the middle for the fish to swim in and out of. Can you please recommend a type of molding material to use with your resin?

      Our Mold Star series is very popular for resin casting: www.smooth-on.com/product-line/mold-star/

    On your site the Smooth Cast is listed as a colorant and put into a mixture poured into molds. However can it be painted onto any epoxy or material?

    • @smoothon
      @smoothon  5 лет назад

      You would be better off using an epoxy designed for coating such as Tarbender or Epsilon.

    The first layer of styrofoam, on the inside of the DIY rock, does that ever get dissolved with acetone, or does that simply remain within the rock & covered?

      @roko8936 4 года назад +1

      It would get dissolved as well.

    So smooth-cast 321 is animal safe? I breed snakes and need to cast some deli cup holders for water bowls, but I need to make 60+ so I need something fast curing and not super super expensive

    this technique provides opportunities to create my own pieces - so Im not limited to whats available in the store. If I want a special theme in the tank, and items are not available then why not just make them?

    Is it porous, and will it provide plenty of surface area for the natural bacterias to populate and grow on it?

    Whats the point? Its not porous at all.

    • @Lymedin2010
      @Lymedin2010 8 лет назад

      +Brown Potato It does not have to be porous & I rather it not be actually. Porous just means detritus trap & nitrate factory to me. Have you ever seen all the stuff that grows in an overflow & on the PVC pipes, where it is not porous at all? Those are all filter feeders that grow in the dark & filter feed your water.
